Metaio Thermal Touch Uses Heat from Your Fingers to Turn Any Surface into a Touchscreen

We’ve seen a couple of prototypes that enable or at least emulate touch-sensitivity on everyday objects. But as wearable technology continues to flourish, we’re going to need a simple and portable solution. Augmented reality company Metaio thinks they may have an answer with Thermal Touch, a technology that emulates touch-sensitivity using “the heat signature left by a person’s finger when touching a surface.”

Right now the hardware needed to pull off the feat is quite bulky. In the demo video below, Metaio used a tablet, a standard camera and a rather large infrared camera. The company hopes that in the future, all of the necessary hardware can be included in a wearable device similar to Google Glass, like so:

Sorry zombies, I guess you’ll be stuck with voice commands. Good luck with that.

Golf Cart Cooling System helps cool you down on the course

golf-cart-cooling-systemLet’s face it – playing golf can be hard work for some of us, and in the summer (or on any other golf course in a tropical environment), you might end up sweating a whole lot faster than expected. The sweltering heat can get to you, and there is every possibility of it affecting your game, so why not make sure that you will be able to travel in relative comfort from one hole to another by equipping your golf cart with the $899.95 Golf Cart Cooling System?

Hey, nobody said that golf is a cheap sport. Since you would like to impress your potential business partner or simply travel in comfort, the Golf Cart Cooling System does sound like a perfect addition to any golf cart. It comprises of an evaporative misting fan system which can be attached to just about any golf cart, helping reduce ambient temperature by as much as 30º F. A couple of fans with built-in nozzles will work to create microdroplets of dry mist which will do its bit to cool both golfers between holes, all without the unwanted result of dampening surfaces or clothes. There are three speeds to choose from, and you can even choose from dry or wet mist thanks to a twist of a dial to suit your cooling preferences. There will be a one-gallon water tank that offers up to seven hours of mist, just in case you were wondering how many rounds of golf it can work for.

Interestingly, they mention that this hoodie requires batteries. That’s probably so you can let out a mighty roar that sounds just like Godzilla’s. Of course, you might want to pick up a Mega Stomp Battle to add the appropriate stomping sound effects too.

You can preorder the Godzilla hoodie now for delivery late this summer. That will be as good a time as any to lay waste to your city. You can get this awesome hoodie from Big Bad Toy Store for just $42.99(USD).

Interestingly, this isn’t the only Godzilla outfit on the way from Rubies Costume Company. They’re also working on a few others you can find on their Facebook page. The inflatable Godzilla costume looks like the best one:

Solar Shower provides free hot water

solar-showerHeating bills can cause quite a big hit in your monthly expenses, depending on which country that you live in, but this does not mean that you should go freeze yourself to death during winter by being a miser, right? After all, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do, and that would include making sure that his family has the bare necessities for survival, including a roof over their head as well as three square meals. The thing is, if you have already made it in life and happen to own a home with a swimming pool, why not add something nice into the equation? Most public pools come with a shower outside for you to wash yourself down before you jump in, as well as help you get acclimatized to the water temperature. Why not go green with the $199.99 Solar Shower?

The Solar Shower is extremely cost effective and a snap to set up, where it will then be able to provide cold, warm or hot showers without causing another dent in your wallet. After all, the heating is done by the sun itself. All that you need to do is to mount the Solar Shower on a wall, make use of the included free-standing base, and you’re good to go. It will hook up to a standard garden hose, which means it should not be too difficult to find a place for it in your garden. The large column fills will take around 2 minutes to fill up with water, and it takes approximately an hour to heat up, depending on weather conditions, to deliver a water temperature of up to 130°F (55°C).

Osmo Will Bring Your Kids Back to the Real World

Osmo for iPadThis is for all you parents out there that need to get your kids from staring at their iPads. The Osmo digital toy for iPad will help do just that, bring them back to the real world.

This new device will come with three games, all of which will make your kids want to play and interact with their friends. The games are Tangram, Words and Newton. In Tangram you match puzzle pieces to complete a shape on the screen. While playing Words you can play against another team to spell out a word that matches the picture on the screen. Newton features a ball that falls down the screen through a maze that you choose to draw on the piece of paper in front of the device, or you can lay anything in front of the iPad and it will add it to the maze. They have a great video on their site that shows each game and how it works.

Osmo consists of a base to prop the iPad up and a mirror device that slips over the iPads camera. You can pre-order Osmo for $49 now, which we highly recommend because the price will go up to $99 soon. If you order now, it should ship to you sometime this summer.

Trascend Unveils JetDrive Lite MacBook Expansion Cards

Trascend Unveils JetDrive Lite MacBook Expansion CardsThe thing about upgrading storage on your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air is that it can get pretty expensive, making you question whether or not you even needed that upgrade in the first place. Well if you do need additional storage but you’re unwilling to pay Apple that much money just to get additional space, you might be interested to learn that Transcend has recently introduced a new JetDrive Lite expansion card that has been designed for the MacBook Air and Pro in mind.

One of the perks of the JetDrive Lite is that it is a low-profile design, which means that unlike inserting memory cards into the MacBook’s SD card slot, it will not stick out, so you don’t have to worry about it getting knocked loose or damaged when you bring your laptop around with you.

According to Transcend, “When inserted into the card slot of a compatible MacBook Pro with Retina display or MacBook Air, the low-profile JetDrive Lite will not stick out like an SD card and can be left in place for on-the-go storage.”

It is also priced somewhat decently at $49 for the 64GB version and $99 for the 128GB version, although we should note that some models won’t be able to use the 128GB card. For example the 13-inch MacBook Air and the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro can use either the 64GB or 128GB models, while the 13-inch MacBook Pro will only be limited to the 64GB option.

The JetDrive Lites have a max sequential read speed of 95 MB/s, while the max write speed is at 60 MB/s, which we reckon should be sufficient for day to day use. Transcend’s JetDrive Lite expansion card is currently available for purchase, so if you’d like to learn more, it up their website for the details.

Amazon UK Lists Bethesda E3 2014 Dummy Games

Amazon UK Lists Bethesda E3 2014 Dummy GamesDoes Bethesda have a new game that we can look forward to at E3 2014? Maybe, maybe not, but it seems that Amazon is expecting Bethesda to show off something. This is thanks to a listing on Amazon UK’s website where they have listed an entire range of “Bethesda E3 2014 Dummy” games for a variety of platforms.

So far we haven’t really heard anything about possible Bethesda-related announcements, so it is unclear if Amazon UK has been tipped off to something that has yet to be officially announced, like perhaps Bethesda gave them the heads up, or if they’re simply speculating that something could be announced, or if the listings were simply just made in error.

Interestingly enough it seems that one of the listings was made for the Nintendo Wii. Yes, you read that right, the Wii, not the Wii U. This seems to suggest that perhaps the listing was indeed made in error, although there is a good chance that this could be something that has yet to be announced. In any case E3 2014 will be kicking off on the 9th of June, so if you’d like to see if Bethesda has anything to share, do check back with us then for the details!

In the meantime what do you guys think it could be, assuming that there is something due for announcement? However for those who were hoping for Fallout 4, you probably won’t want to hold your breath.
