Look out, world — Lenovo‘s on a serious tear, and it doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon. In the company’s latest earnings report, it proudly announced its first-ever double digital market share of 10.2 percent. As if that milestone wasn’t enough to make upper management grin, the outfit also nailed down just under $55 million in net income (a pre-tax income of $75 million) on sales of $5.1 billion. This quarter also marks the third in a row that it has been the fastest growing of the top five PC makers, and the fifth consecutive quarter that it outgrew the industry. Specifically, the outfit’s PC shipments increased some 48.1 percent year-over-year, and consolidated sales for its fiscal Q1 saw an insane 49.6 percent uptick from last year. As of now, things are looking mighty rosy for Lenovo, and it just seems logical for the company to revive the Skylight in celebration. Who’s with us?

Good news for all electric heads out there: “intense interest” in the Chevy Volt has led General Motors to expand its launch markets to now include Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Texas. They join California, Michigan and Washington DC, although only Austin in Texas and New York City will have the honor of retail Volts before 2010 is through; the rest of the new markets will get their fill in 2011. Though Chevy still hasn’t set down a final date and price for its electric car, late 2010 availability seems to mesh well with a November 1 rumor we heard earlier. Beyond this year, 10,000 units are planned to be built in 2011, with 30,000 more coming up in 2012. So it’s gonna be a pretty exclusive club however you look at it, now can we get a cheesy music video going for this car or what? Oh wait…

It’s certainly not the first time we’ve heard of an automobile shipping sans a paper-based user guide, but unlike those other guys who toss you a CD-R with a couple of PDFs on there, Hyundai is seriously upping the ante with its 2011 Equus. Revealed today over at the New York Auto Show, the company announced that the aforementioned vehicle would ship with an Equus Multimedia Tablet, enabling users to easily and quickly pull up a slew of information and diagrams about their new whip. The outfit’s US president John Krafcik didn’t specifically mention the brand or model of the tablet that’d be included, but the image shown to the crowd (and to you, above) certainly reeks of iPad. What’s even more interesting is that the tablet will be used as more than just an owner’s guide, but as an interface for handling “customer / dealer interactions like scheduling service appointments.” We suspect we’ll hear more about what kind of device will be included as the vehicle’s ship date nears, but if we were the betting kind, we’d say that a massive, undercover deal with Fusion Garage will put a JooJoo into each and every Equus owner’s hands. Kidding.

Ford’s been keeping itself busy on the navigation front, and while you may have noticed that 2010 just began a few weeks ago (on the Gregorian calendar, anyway), 2011 model year vehicles are already on the minds of those in Dearborn. 2011 models with voice-activated navigation systems will be getting an update that brings along HOV logic, helping users who travel with a buddy to get from point A to point B more hastily if carpool lanes are nearby. Of course, only 2,500 miles of those blanket America, so a few other updates might be intriguing to those of you who are sane enough to live outside of the rat race. Branded POI icons, higher density street labeling and HD Radio will come standard on voice-controlled NAV systems, and potentially most interesting is the notion that “integration with SYNC Traffic, Directions and Information (TDI) app — enabling new features like the ability to download destinations sent from a home or work computer from Mapquest” — will hit later on in the year. Since it was one of the first to launch 24/7 HD broadcasting with Discovery HD Theater, it only makes sense Discovery is blazing the 3D path, helped along by Sony and IMAX. The bad news? This three way venture won’t be coming home until 2011, well after ESPN kicks off part time broadcasting and, in our opinion, leaving a wide window if a certain Dallas-based billionare wants to launch his own channel — we’re thinking “3DNet” could be a good name. C’mon Mark, you know you want to. Check the PR after the break for details, although there’s no word on which documentaries we’ll be seeing looped day after day (and, if our experience with HD Theater is any indication, will still be amazed by even the 50th time.)
