We have to say, we’re pretty pumped about Eye-Fi’s new Direct Mode, and that’s not just because it’s free — CEO Jef Holove showed us how his wireless SD cards can fire snapshots from a point-and-shoot camera straight to a Samsung Galaxy Tab, and it looks like a breeze. Once the free update launches later this year, you’ll just need to download the Eye-Fi app, and select your Eye-Fi X2 card from a list to permanently pair them — much like Bluetooth or a WiFi access point — and then whenever you shoot within range, the pics will automatically spirit themselves to your Android, and can send them to Picasa or Eye-Fi View from there with an additional tap. If you come all this way to the Consumer Electronics Show, why introduce just a single product? You wouldn’t, as evidenced by Maxell’s smorgasbord here in Las Vegas. Kicking things off is the outfit’s new Acoustabar soundbar lineup, which boast integrated subwoofers and hardwood enclosures. The 32-inch Eht model includes ten speaker drivers, while the SD320 delivers 430 watts of audio through five drivers. Moreover, that guy touts a built-in iPod dock, and it allows for connectivity with any TV, DVD player and game console. The 32-inch SD-400 simply steps up to 520 watts of audio.

Once you’re done dreaming of ways to enhance your own home cinema, the outfit has one to consider for the kids. The KDP-1 projector includes an inbuilt DVD player and provides a plug-and-play experience that’ll shoot up an image as large as 45-inches. You’ll also get built-in speakers, a microphone input for karaoke and an undisclosed native resolution. We’ll confess that not knowing the latter scares us a bit, but those who couldn’t care less can find it nowish for $129.99. As you’d expect, Maxell’s also dishing out a slew of new storage products. It’ll be pushing out 1.8- and 2.5-inch SSDs (64GB, 256GB and 512GB models) in late 2011, SDXC cards and readers sooner than that, a number of USB 3.0 flash drives / HDDs and a non-networked. Trust us — no one on the Engadget staff wants to know what their blood pressure is right about now. For those trapped in the hurricane that is CES, there’s probably no better product to have laying around than this… but only if you’re looking to confirm your suspicions about being in a high-stress career. Withings, the company best known for its connected scales, has just revealed the planet’s first iPhone-connected blood pressure monitor, with an aim to make measuring vitals as easy as pie for iOS users. The idea is fairly simple: just plug the arm band into your iPad, iPod touch or iPhone, dial up the gratis app and start the process. All of the data is logged on the user’s secure online space, and there’s even a secure sharing feature that’ll beam your abnormally high rates right to your frightened physician. It’ll go on sale tomorrow around the globe, with the asking price set at $129 / €129.

It just wouldn’t be CES without a gaggle of new products from iHome, now would it? Kicking things off in this year’s line of audio-related gadgetry from the company is the iDM12 (shown above), a rechargeable portable Bluetooth speaker that’s described as something like a mini-soundbar. It’ll stream tunes from any Bluetooth-equipped phone or PMP, but naturally, it’s being aimed at iPad, iPhone and iPod owners. Moving right along, there’s the iDM15 rechargeable portable BT speakers. Here, you’ll find two diminutive speakers that can stream in a similar fashion as the iDM12, but with the addition of speakerphone support. Lastly, the iDM70 ‘Sound Sleeve’ is both a protective shell and a speaker setup for your iPad; it relies on rechargeable NXT flat speakers to improve the audio experience, but mum’s the word on price. You’ll find these guys, as well as the iD9, iD28 and iD85, on sale “later this year.”

It’s highly improbable that you actually need yet another option when looking for a watch band to house your iPod nano 6G, but if that first-run version you sprung for is already in tatters, HEX has a little something worth considering. The company has just started shipping its HEX Watch Band in the US of A, with $29.95 netting you a soft, flexible band that requires no complicated plug-and-play action whatsoever. Just pop your nano into the face, strap it on your arm, and roll. It’s designed to be remarkably rugged (as seen in a torture video just past the break), and the headphone socket is arranged in a way that nicely runs the cable up your arm towards your cranium. The only problem? Choosing which of the nine hues fits your personality best.
