Redrock Micro Hybrid Cinema Rigs turn DSLRs into filmmakers

Yep, you heard right — the DSLR is totally the new camcorder. With the reality being that most mid- and high-end DSLRs from here on out will tout at least 720p movie modes, Redrock Micro is looking to make the most of a most opportune situation. The DSLR 2.0 line of its Hybrid Cinema Rigs enables the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EOS Rebel T1i, Nikon D90, and Panasonic Lumix HG1 to become filmmaking machines (at least on some level), and as we’ve seen, DSLR filmmaking is no laughing matter. The company sells all sorts of racks, rails and shoulder mounts, with solutions starting for as little as $195. Look, you’ve been putting off making that dust-collecting screenplay into a masterpiece of cinema for ages — what legitimate excuse do you really have now?

Creative TravelSound i85 adds external speaker, FM tuner to iPod nano

There’s really no easy way to say it — Creative‘s TravelSound i85 is bordering on unsightly, so devout fashionistas should probably look elsewhere. For those who always put design second and utility first, this here device adds a portable speaker and FM tuning abilities to Apple’s fourth-generation iPod nano (the tall, thin one, for those unaware) and even includes a built-in rechargeable battery for pumping out up to 15 hours of house jams. Aside from operating as a gaudy wrist adornment, it can also double as a stand (horizontally or vertically), though there’s no Dock Connector pass-through (just a miniUSB plug). Worth $99.99? That’s between you and the monster underneath your bed.

R2E cable adds eSATA transfer abilities to RED camera

With NAB just about to get started in Las Vegas, CoolCameraGear is getting out ahead of the crowd with a newfangled adapter sure to please those who find themselves offloading gobs of RED footage. The R2E LEMO to eSATA cable essentially takes the burden away from your FireWire 800, FireWire 400 or USB 2.0 bus by enabling bits and bytes to flow over eSATA. RED camera users simply plug in their RED-Drive or RED-RAM using the original power adapter, then plug the LEMO end of the R2E cable into the drive and the other end into a standard eSATA port. Boom. Just like that, RED owners have instant access to eSATA transfers. For those unaware, eSATA support on camcorder is still a rarity, though the benefits are obvious for pros shuffling through multiple takes. Interested consumers can check this one out when the CoolCameraGear website goes live on April 20th for $230.

XCM’s $84.99 Cross Fire Adapter for Xbox 360 ships today

We can’t say for sure why you’d want to use a PlayStation 3 controller with your Xbox 360, but if you somehow prefer the Batwing over something that’s actually comfortable to hold, there’s this. XCM — who just recently debuted its Rumble Joystick and KO Adapter for PlayStation 3 — is today shipping its Cross Fire Adapter for Xbox 360. As we insinuated earlier, this device enables users to connect a PS3 controller, original Xbox controller (Duke!) or wired Xbox 360 controller to one’s Xbox 360 console so you don’t have to mod your controller to enjoy the spoils of Turbo Fire. Get your order in right now over at Extreme-Mods for $84.99.

Rock Band double bass pedal brings out the Joey Jordison in you

True metal-heads have already modded their Rock Band / Guitar Hero kits to accommodate that DW 5000, but for those who lack any DIY genes whatsoever, there’s this. Accessory maker PDP is gearing up to ship its universal Rock Band replacement kick pedal, which conveniently ships with a “double bass adapter that allows for two pedals to be used at the same time.” Time to get to work on your coordination skills, ’cause you’ll definitely want to lay down $24.99 on this when it ships on June 1st.

[Thanks, Omar]

XCM introduces Rumble Joystick and KO Adapter for PlayStation 3

Hot on the heels of XCM‘s Dominator joystick comes an even more irresistible iteration, making those that took the plunge in January inevitably jealous. The newfangled Rumble Joystick for PlayStation 3 isn’t terribly different from the original… save for the fact that this one shakes, rattles and rolls, of course. Described as the world’s first PS3 joystick to rumble natively, this bugger also packs four memory buttons for programming all sorts of sick, twisted macros alongside independent Rapid Fire and Turbo buttons. Moving on, we’ve got the all new XO Adapter for PS3, which adds support for macros, Rapid Fire and Turbo to any vanilla Dual Shock or SIXAXIS controller. There’s no mention of pricing for either, but we suspect that’ll change in the near future (like, real soon, given that they’ll be shipping in under a month).

Kensington outs new handful of netbook accessories

It was just a matter of time, really. We’ve seen desktop accessories, laptop accessories and now netbook accessories. Kensington has today launched five new products aimed specifically at the blossoming market, and while the tiny wired ($14.99) and wireless ($24.99) mice aren’t anything spectacular, the Power Adapter for Netbooks ($49.99) clearly shows a pinch of ingenuity. The unit is compatible with a whole slew of netbooks (not surprising given just how similar they all are), and includes a built-in USB port to give you that extra charging socket that you’ve been secretly longing for. There’s also a new security lock ($24.99) and reversible sleeve ($14.99), which ought to join those other pieces we mentioned on store shelves later this month.

Multi-shape Cobra PSP stand wraps you up, won’t let you go

Oh, Brando — how your works continue to amaze us. As if the outfit’s litany of bizarre USB-powered peripherals weren’t enough to keep you smiling through tough times, there’s… this. The PSP 2K/3K Multi-shape Cobra Stand Bundle Kit is pretty much the best PSP stand of all time, enabling users to wrap their handheld around their forearm, waist, left leg or cranium. The bundled even includes a traditional vacuum hook stand for those who dress in plastic, and the whole package will only set you back 23 bones. ESPIRIT Rowing shirt sold separately.

[Thanks, Tony]

LCD Bluetooth Vibrating Bracelet is a watch short of awesome

Brando tried here, it really did, but the crucial omission of a watch just kills the deal for us. Still, for those nowhere near ready to give up their Sea-Dweller, the LCD Bluetooth Vibrating Bracelet makes for a perfect complement. Essentially, this here piece of jewelry pairs up with your BT-enabled cellphone in order to display caller ID information and vibrate whenever someone rings in. If you’re tied up at the moment, you can simply hit a button on the bracelet that will reject the call and potentially kill friendships. At $49.90, though, we’d hope the whole “stainless steel” claim is true — wouldn’t want any yellowing going on at this price point, now would we?

[Thanks, Louie]
