This month a couple of big changes in the way Samsung operates are set to have direct influences on how the Samsung Galaxy S 5 will be delivered. Just this November an analyst day event showed off the next big thing for Samsung’s line of smartphones in a sensor that’ll be placed in at least […]
It hasn’t been long at all since LG launched its high-end smartphone called the Nexus 5. We have already reviewed the Nexus 5 smartphone if you want more details on how the device performs. Sega has announced that one of its most beloved classic games from the earlier days of gaming is making a comeback. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has landed on Android and iOS devices for the first time. We spend a lot of time tinkering away on our smartphones, when in reality perhaps our smartphones should be working for us. We’ve seen attempts by developers to create smarter apps, such as IFTTT for the iPhone, and Chameleon launcher for Android devices, and now looking to help users create a more seamless user experience, the Cover lock screen app has been launched in open beta. The app has been around for a while now, but previously it was limited to a closed beta where not everyone could download the app just yet.
However for those who are interested in creating a smarter smartphone for themselves, the app is available as a public beta via the Google Play store. For those unfamiliar with Cover, it’s basically a lock screen app that tries to provide you with the best apps at the right time all from the lock screen itself. For example it will be able to detect when you are in the car and prepare apps such as Google Maps, TomTom, and etc. However when it detects that you might be at work or school, productivity apps such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, and etc. would be available.
As it stands the app is a free for download, so if you’re wondering what the fuss is all about, hit up the Google Play store for the details.

When it comes to sports, they say it doesn’t matter if you win or lose, just how you play the game. And if hockey’s your thing, with the FWD Powershot sensor on the end of your stick you’ll know for sure if you played the game better than everyone else out there on the ice.

One of the finer points in Motorola breaking their camera software free from the basic Android build is their ability to update it swiftly, as they’ve done this week with the Moto G. The CyanogenMod team recently released a new app called Screencast that lets Android users record the display of the device with audio. You can then retrieve the saved video from your device and play it on anything you want. Though wouldn’t it be nice to be able to mirror your Android device’s display in real time to an Apple TV? That’s where the new Mirror app comes in, it has been released today in beta version and CyanogenMod’s well known developer Koushik Dutta invites people to give the app a shot and report if they find any bugs.
The Mirror app actually offers the best of both worlds, not only does it let users mirror the screen to an Apple TV, but it also lets them create a video recording of their device. Those of you who are willing to try out the app need to keep in mind that your device must be rooted on Android 4.4.2, there’s no need to install a custom ROM though. Then, you must join the ClockworkMod community as well as the beta program prior to downloading the app from the Google Play Store. As always, these apps and communities are absolutely free, you won’t have to pay anything to gain access. You’ll obviously need to have an Apple TV, if you don’t have Cupertino’s set-top box, you might as well wait for Chromecast to receive Android mirroring support.

Razer Comms Now Works With Android
Posted in: Today's ChiliRazer is a company that has more or less established itself as one of the premier names when it comes to all things gaming, especially peripherals. Still, this does not mean that they are found to be absolutely wanting when it comes to the software department, which is why the announcement of Razer Comms is such a big deal. What makes Razer Comms so special? It happens to be the first VoIP solution in the world that enables gamers to make VoIP calls and messages from in-game to Android phones and tablets, as well as vice versa.
Of course, in order for those who are gaming and want to make a VoIP call to Android-powered smartphones will first need to have the Razer Comms PC client installed. Forget about Alt-Tab, that particular keystroke combo can now be relegated to history when you are gaming, since you are now able to make calls to your friends in-game. Not only that, you can also reply to text messages or reject calls from your Android smartphones within the PC client itself, which more or less translates to doing away with the need to check your smartphones occasionally just in case there is something urgent for you to attend to. While right now, the Razer Comms is compatible with Android phones and tablets only, we do know that Razer is working on an iOS version of Razer Comms that is scheduled for an early 2014 release tentatively.
