Vevo scores AirPlay video support on iOS

Vevo’s just pushed an updated version of its iOS app into the wild, and it should delight Apple TV owners who like watching their music videos instead of merely listening to them. The fresh upgrade adds full AirPlay support, which means that both video and audio can be streamed to televisions using Apple’s set-top box. Naturally, a grab bag of unspecified bug fixes and optimizations accompany the latest release. Click the source link below to load up your iDevice of choice with the application.

Google Play 'Package File Invalid' error acknowledged in support page, no fix yet

An updated version of the Google Play app began rolling out to handsets a few days ago without much fanfare, but now it’s getting more attention for unpleasant reasons: a glaring bug. Some users wielding the latest version of the marketplace have reported seeing a “Package File Invalid” error when downloading or updating select apps, and now Google has acknowledged the software hiccup in a freshly-created support page. Mountain View says there aren’t any workarounds for the glitch as of now, but it’s “currently investigating a permanent solution.” There’s no ETA for a fix just yet, but Page and Co. promise they’ll update the listing with developments.

Teachers on Pinterest initiative could make lesson planning halfway enjoyable

Oh, education. So necessary, but so grueling. Particularly for oodles of grade-school instructors who are forced to swallow their fresh-out-of-college ambitions and fall into the system if they ever hope to level up in academia. We’ve seen glimmers of hope here and there, with certain schools getting outside of their comfort zones long enough to try new methodologies, and Pinterest’s latest project certainly holds a lot of promise. Teachers on Pinterest is a hub that showcases a variety of lesson plans and teaching tools, and through a partnership with Edutopia, it’s hoping to build out a full-bodied community for instructors. Hit up the source link below for a closer look, and remember: teachers rule.

Kindle for Android app updated with library sorting and reading progress ticker

Amazon’s Android-flavored reading app is offering up a couple more of its own e-reader’s features for those with Google-fied devices. Naturally, the update also comes with the usual stability improvements and bug fixes in tow and can be snatched up at the source link. Yelp iPhone app now lets you post reviews from within, support coming soon to Android

Yelp iPhone app now lets you post reviews from within, support coming soon to Android

Here’s something that may surprise you: yesterday, Yelp users couldn’t actually post reviews from within the company’s iPhone app. Wild, right? Today’s update, however, changes that, bringing it more in line with rival Foursquare. The revised iOS app, which should be hitting the App Store momentarily, will bring the feature to all users across 22 countries, and we’re told that the new button for reviews will appear where the “Tips” button has sat in the past. Interestingly, Yelp intends to still hold some power over what you write — if your “review” is deemed too brief, it could end up as a tip; thankfully, users can always go back later, add a bit more detail and have it ported over to the review side. Just remember: you can totally get sued for posting negative reviews. Womp, womp.

MyTaxi starts one-hour delivery in Germany, may reach US cities next year

DNP Mytaxi makes trials onehour package delivery, battles limited patience abroad

Don’t let the name fool you, Mytaxi wants to drop off more than just people. The app-based service that began as a German take on Uber has now started using its fleet of drivers to offer one-hour courier deliveries in its home country. The Next Web reports that, once this initial trial is over at the end of the year, the 60-minute service could be expanded to cover US cities including Washington, D.C. (where Mytaxi already operates cabs), Denver, Miami and Seattle, at prices similar to existing shipping options. There’s a touch of irony in waiting around for the ambiguous domestic start date but, in the meantime, Google and eBay have you covered.
