Staples Offering 2GB SanDisk Cruzer For $45 – No Rebates

This article was written on September 13, 2006 by CyberNet.

2GB SanDisk Cruzer M2

Expires: September 23, 2006

Staples is having a great deal on a SanDisk 2GB Cruzer M2 because it is just $44.99 after the instant savings and coupon have been applied. They normally sell it for $100 so this is quite a savings. PriceGrabber has the lowest price at $50 but there is a $15 mail-in rebate that you have to hassle with…which makes this instant deal even better.

Here are the specs:

  • 2GB
  • USB 2.0
  • Includes U3 smart™ technology – carry your files AND your software on a USB drive
  • New retractable USB port eliminates the need for caps and protects your USB connector
  • With U3 have your wallpaper, preferences, favorites, profiles, and more on any PC, wherever you go

OldManDeath” is the one that sent me this tip and he said that the U3 launcher seemed to have some troubles with the Windows Firewall that was causing his system to hang when the drive was inserted. After a quick conversation with Tech Support (which he said was surprisingly helpful) he decided to remove the U3 launcher because he only wanted the drive for storage.

When I was looking around for a good deal on flash drives I was looking at this model. That was about two months ago and these things were way to expensive because they are smaller than the average flash drive. So if you have been hunting around for a nice drive you better scoop this up before it expires.

Dell Dimension 9150 Desktop With 24 inch LCD For $1199

Right now you can get $440 off of the Dimension 9150 Pentium D Dual Core Computer when you purchase the 24″ monitor with it. This is the computer that I have and it is awesome. Because this computer is dual core it is capable of running 64-bit Windows which is important to have for the future (or even now for that matter). You can get this deal from Dell Small Business.
Use the code VHZWV?H$F79CMQ which expires on January 18 at Midnight CT OR after 750 uses!

Final Cost is $1199 plus $24 for shipping. Since you are ordering from Small Business tax is charged which hurts the deal a little. Make sure to select the free CD-RW & DVD.

The 24″ monitor alone sells for $879.20 which means you are only paying $320 for the desktop!

“Secret” Woot Page Reveals 30GB Zune for $100

This article was written on October 04, 2007 by CyberNet.

If you’ve been itching to get your hands on a low-cost media player there may not be another chance like this this. Woot is currently selling refurbished 30GB Zune’s for a whopping $100 (+ $5 for shipping)! That’s just crazy!

What’s really interesting is the URL that is used to access the deal. You’ll notice that it doesn’t take you to the typical Woot homepage which currently has a different deal going on right now. If you look closely in the sidebar there is a disclaimer:

You know Woot as the site that sells one product per day, cheap. But this isn’t exactly Woot. This is a special super-secret page we set up to get our family and friends off our backs about these things (hi mom!); we’re tired of entering manual orders. Your order here will be processed and shipped like any other order with Woot.

You’re here because you seem like the kind of discriminating, savvy consumer who can be flattered into dropping some cash with us. If you’re tempted to sneak a few of your lowlife pals in the back door, remember: that’s a really nice computer you have there. It’d be a shame if anything happened to it. (Ok, no, we won’t be breaking your computer. And yes, you can sneak your lowlife pals in, but make sure they follow the dress code.)

Yeah, so it appears that this page wasn’t supposed to be made available to the public, but dozens of sites have already written about it. Frankly, we didn’t want any of you to miss out on such a good deal. ;)

And yes, this low price is probably in light of the 2nd generation Zune’s getting announced, but it’s expected that the old Zune’s will also be getting a software facelift. If you’re looking for a media player this has gotta be a deal that’s hard to pass up! Maybe you can start stocking up for the holidays.

Thanks for the tip Mark!

Free CodeWallet Pro for Pocket PC ($25 value)

This article was written on October 05, 2007 by CyberNet.

Free CodeWallet Pro

Download Squad must have their deal huntin’ glasses on today because they snatched up a one-time offer by Handango. For today only (until midnight Central Time) you can get CodeWallet Pro 6 for free on your Pocket PC. You don’t have to sell your soul, sacrifice a goat, or anything along those lines. They do require that you enter in some of your personal information so that they can give it to the mafia, but the bright side is that you don’t have to drop a dime on the app itself.

So what’s CodeWallet Pro all about? It’s actually a nice little program that is used to securely store credit card numbers, passwords, account information, and anything else that could land you in bankruptcy if it’s ever lost. In all seriousness I have installed a trial of this program before on my PocketPC, but I never actually used it. It might come in handy if you’re a business person with dozens of accounts, credit cards, and the like. If you just have a handful of accounts though it will be more work than its worth.

This deal is only for the Pocket PC version which doesn’t include their desktop client. The desktop version is actually kind of nice because it will sync with the one on your Pocket PC, but you’ll have to shell out $25 to get that. I’ve never been a fast typer on the Pocket PC which is why I prefer to do my work on the desktop, but I’m also too cheap to shell out the $25 for the other program. :) Guess you can’t complain when it’s free.

ZoneAlarm ForceField FREE for Today Only

This article was written on August 12, 2008 by CyberNet.

ZoneAlarm ForceField Screenshotsarrow Windows Windows only arrow
Last year we talked about a new product called ZoneAlarm ForceField who’s goal is to protect users from the dangerous attacks on the web that could leave their computer vulnerable. It does this by creating a virtualized environment much like the free alternatives we’ve covered before: BufferZone, LivePC, and Sandboxie.

By running your browser in a virtualized “bubble” anything that you download and install can easily be undone since it is all kept isolated from the rest of your PC. What differentiates this from the freeware alternatives is that this also scans your activity and downloads looking for phishing or spyware attacks.

How do you get it for free? Tipster “ainstushar” pointed us to the page where ZoneAlarm ForceField is freely available for download. You have until August 13th @ 6AM PST to grab your free 1-year license.

ZoneAlarm ForceField is compatible with Windows XP & Vista, but only works with the Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers. Here’s a more extensive list of what it has to offer for those of you interested:

  • Virtualized surfing – Creates a “bubble of security” around your browsing session that works two ways: it protects your PC from Web site threats such as drive-by downloads; and protects your browsing session from threats on your PC
  • Anti-phishing – powerful best-of-breed signature and heuristic methods providing the most comprehensive fraud protection
  • Spyware site blocking – prevents users from accidentally visiting known spyware distribution sites
  • Site rating – provides important security information about any site
  • Dangerous download protection – scans downloads and alerts user of danger
  • Keylogger and screen grabber jamming – prevents spyware already on the PC from seeing what the user does online
  • Temporary file encryption & memory scan – secures local Web files from spyware, protects the session
  • Private browser mode – keeps user’s personal information private and secure
