In addition to the hinged LCD-harboring S6600 Coolpix that was announced earlier this evening, Nikon has also introduced its new Coolpix L620, a high-power zoom compact with 14x optical zoom and a backside-illuminated 18.1-megapixel CMOS sensor. The camera will be available in two different colors: black and a red wine type of color. As far […]

The Panasonic Lumix GX7 has cropped up in leaks a couple times this month, first in the German magazine Foto and later on Japanese website Digicame. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait long to find out if the leaks were true: Panasonic just launched the camera. This digital single lens mirrorless (DSLM) offering features a […]
A couple of Samsung‘s SMART cameras went up for sale back in February, among them being the WB250F 14.2-megapixel shooter. Fast-forward a few months, and this camera has been bestowed with new functionality thanks to a partnership between Samsung and Evernote, bringing the latter service to the camera for additional sharing capabilities. The software update […]
This week Canon has revealed the newest member of their VIXIA camcorder lineup, this time placing emphasis on the display and its ability to face forward as easily as it does backward. This 1080p-capable camcorder works with a 12-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor up front and a 2.7-inch 230K-dot-resolution display on top able to work anywhere
A DSLR is a hefty investment, and as such not all photographers are inclined to run out and update to the newest technology. WiFi-enabled cameras offer a very convenient feature, however: the ability to use a tablet or smartphone as a remote control and portable view finder. For DSLR owners who want the same feature,
Last week, the Panasonic GX7 leaked in the German magazine Foto, giving us a decent look at the camera, as well as a roster of its specifications, most of which were in line with leaks that had previously surfaced regarding the digital camera. Now the camera has leaked again, this time on the Japanese website Digicame, complete with several new images of the camera.
This latest leak shows the camera from four different angles: the front, top, back, and the back again, this time with the digital view finder raised. It matches the image seen in Foto Magazine, and the specs are likewise the same, again listing 16-megapixels rather than the 18-megapixels that had been reported in earlier leaks.
According to Digicame, the information was provided to them by an individual “who can be trusted.” By all accounts, this is a high-end digital camera, and is being styled after the Four Third L1 camera, giving it a nice retro look. Judging from the pictures, the camera’s body looks fairly slim (sans the lens, obviously), but does have a protruding handhold for gripping.
Says the source of this leak, the Panasonic GX7 features a 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor, as well as a 3-inch view finder with 1.04 million dots and the ability to tilt up to 80-degrees. The electronic view finder, meanwhile, is said to be tiltable up to 90 degrees, which is substantiated by the last picture in the batch. Both this leak and the last claims the EVF has 2.76 million dots.
Videos can be recorded in up to full 1920 x 1080/60p, while the shutter speed goes up to a fast 1/8000, and the ISO up to 25,600. As far as software goes, there’s said to be 22 filters of some sort, as well as panorama and a silent mode for candid image taking. Again we’re hearing that the camera has on-sensor stablization, as well as WiFi and NFC.

Panasonic GX7 digital camera image and specs leak with on-sensor stabilization
Posted in: Today's ChiliPanasonic is gearing up to release a new digital camera – the GX7 – based on the Four Third L1 device. Little has been known about this upcoming device until now, with a leak having surfaced from the German magazine Foto Magazine showing both the front and back of the device, as well as a roster of its specifications.
According to the leaked information, the Panasonic GX7 will feature a 16-megapixel sensor, although some past leaks have indicated it would feature an 18-megapixel offering. As 4/3 Rumors pointed out, this could mean the camera utilizes the larger sensor while having 16 effective megapixels, which isn’t unheard of, though nothing official is known either way.
That aside, the body itself has quite the retro flair and is made from magnesium, being available in either all-black or a silver and black color combination. The LCD is hinged so that it can be tilted, and measures in at 3-inch inches with 1.04 million dots. There’s also an integrated stereo microphone in the camera to go alongside the video recording feature.
Reportedly, the GX7 will have an on-sensor image stabilizer, which will be a first for Panasonic if it proves to be true. There’s also an electronic view finder, which is also tiltable and has 2.76 million dots. The shutter speed is said to go up to 1/8000, and there’s a 5-frames-per-second image burst setting, which drops by a single frame if continuous autofocus is used.
Not much else is known beyond this, except that connectivity will be comprised of both WiFi and NFC, and that there’s focus peaking. The body of the GX7 will be priced at 1,000 Euros, and will be launched in September. Two different kits will be available as well, one with a 14 – 42mm lens and with a 20mm lens.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 unveiled
Posted in: Today's ChiliThere are digital cameras, and then there are digital cameras. It is quite a large topic to cover, and so, there are just too many different branches to cover in a single article. Still, the digital camera market is pretty much broken down into three segments – the compact digital camera, the DSLR, and the Micro Four Thirds market. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 can be said to occupy the first category, although it would be in a pretty niche segment, too, as optically speaking, the DMC-FZ70 is capable of delivering an amazing 20mm wide-angle to 1,200mm (60X) long zoom. Not only that, with F2.8-5.9 lens brightness, it does not matter whether you are shooting video or photos, either one will appear bright even under low light conditions.
Apart from that, the inclusion of optical image stabilization would assure that both long zoom photos and videos will remain sharp and free from blur, while the DMC-FZ70 also delivers amazing Full HD 1080/60i video recording capability, courtesy of Panasonic’s experience as a world leader in professional broadcast video. Panasonic has also thrown in a unique microphone which will do away with ambient noise and wind sound thanks to the stunning clarity of Dolby Digital. In fact, this special microphone can even zoom with the optical zoom in order to zero in on the audio coming from your subject in a more precise manner.
Underneath the hood, you will find a new 16.1-megapixel high sensitivity MOS sensor and Venus engine that delivers high speed response and high picture quality, even in high sensitivity recording. This does ensure it is able to perform high speed burst shooting at 9 fps in full resolution, letting you capture the most fleeting shooting opportunities together thanks to a speedy start-up time of under a second. Unfortunately for the world, pricing and availability details remain to be seen, and we hope that it will be easy on the pockets!
