Eye-Fi Mobi allows photographers to wirelessly send images to iOS and Android

Eye-Fi, provider of SD cards that allow users to wirelessly transfer images, did some research and discovered two things: the first is that people want to wirelessly transfer photos from their camera to their mobile device, and the second is that they would more often use their camera if they could do this. Such data compelled Eye-Fi to create the Mobi card, which it has just announced.

EYE-FI_Logo_oversized_web

Eye-Fi says the Mobi card replaces a digital camera’s standard SD card, and that after inserting it two more “simple steps” are required before users can wirelessly transfer images from their camera to their iOS or Android mobile device. It doesn’t specify what those steps are, although we’re guessing one of them is downloading the Eye-Fi app from your respective app store and installing it, and the other is virtually identifying your device so the camera knows where to send things.

The Eye-Fi Mobi is aimed at being simple to use, with that being hailed as one of its best features. Users are not required to create an account or to have a computer, and cloud usage isn’t needed. Once the app is downloaded and the card is paired with the app, images can be transferred to your mobile device of choice. Likewise, there is no limit on the number of mobile devices you can pair with the Mobi card, meaning your smartphone and tablet and any others you have can all receive images.

Obviously, the full quality of images and videos that are stored on the Eye-Fi Mobi are transferred to the mobile device, something that is done automatically, no fiddling necessary. The Mobi will hit shelves soon, but is already available online in 8GB and 16GB capacities for $49.99 and $79.99, respectively.

Eye-Fi’s CEO Matt DiMaria said: “Unfortunately, smartphones fall short for life’s many moments that require zooming, high-speed shooting, low light and other features that make digital cameras superior. Mobi is our simplest card yet, designed to provide photo lovers a no-compromises solution: the great quality pictures and videos of a digital camera and instant access on the smartphone to enjoy and share.”

Camera

According to the various leaks and sources, the Olympus E-P5 will be offered to consumers in three varieties: black, white, and silver. The cameras will feature 17mm, 45mm, and 75mm offerings, and a shutter speed as fast as 1/8000th of a second. In addition, the specs are pointing at some improved features over the previous E-M5 digital camera.

Image stabilization is said to be new and improved, offering 5-axis stabilization with an IS-Auto mode, which allows for improved stabilization over the E-M5, as well as better auto focus and all-around clearer photographs. Under the hood, users will find a TruePic VI engine for image processing, as well as the E-M5′s 16-megapixel image sensor.

There is said to be focus peaking and a 5-frames-per-second shooting burst mode for rapid image capture. The display, which you can see in the gallery below, is on a hinge and can be tilted. And a feature that is beloved by many, the E-P5 is also said to offer integrated Wi-Fi for easy image transfer, possibly as well as remote display viewing and remote control of the device. Samsung NX2000 launched

When it comes to digital cameras, not many of us would think of Samsung being right up there with the best, although you can say that the South Korean giant has certainly made its fair share of strides in recent memory. Well, Samsung has just decided to expand their award-winning NX family by announcing the launch of the Samsung NX2000, where this stylish and slim compact system camera (CSC) will merge outstanding, professional results with revolutionary Samsung SMART Camera technology. It does not matter if you want to shoot photos or videos, the Samsung NX2000 will be able to do both with ease.

Just what kind of hardware as well as built-in software that the Samsung NX2000 carries with it right out of the box? For starters, the Samsung NX2000 will boast of a large 20.3MP ASP-C CMOS Sensor which was produced entirely by Samsung in-house, where it is capable of delivering extremely sharp and highly detailed images, even in low light conditions images. The presence of its DRIMe IV engine will further help reduce noise, improve speed and enable superior color reproduction.

Heck, you can use the Samsung NX2000 for 8fps fast continuous shooting, letting you capture shots which you might normally miss because the hardware that you carry lack the relevant amount of technical ability. It does not matter whether it is you, the photographer, or the subject who is quickly on the move, the 1/4000th second top shutter speed makes capturing clear, blur free images an achievable task, and the assistance of the wide ISO range (100 to 25600) will help to deliver images which are beautifully balanced, never mind what kind of lighting conditions you are shooting in.

Apart from that, you get the enjyo 3D Still and Movie Recording capabilities, Full HD video recording capability, enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity and the Samsung SMART CAMERA app which is available on both Android and iOS platforms that helps you enjoy a streamlined manner of linking smart devices. You can pick up the Samsung NX2000 will be available in white, black and pink shades if you are interested.

Samsung NX2000 SMART Camera packs NFC and WiFi

Samsung‘s latest smart camera has broken cover, the NX2000, pairing a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor with a sizable touchscreen and integrated WiFi, NFC, and remote app support. Replacing last year’s NX1000, the Samsung SMART Camera NX2000 can fire off stills at up to 8fps or record Full HD 1080p video, as well as swap lenses with Samsung’s range of twelve options, including a 3D capture lens.

NX2000 White 5

On the camera side of things, there’s Samsung’s DRIMe IV engine for processing noise reduction and colors, with a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000th of a second and ISO 100-25600. There’s also a smart mode, for macro and panoramic shots, as well as more gimmicky photography like “best face” and “beauty face” which automatically processes those in-frame to smooth out skin and remove blemishes.

For video, there’s 2D capture in 30fps or 24fps and 3D capture – with the right lens – at 30fps. The NX2000 outputs in MPEG4 AVC/H.264 format with AAC audio, saving to microSDXC card.

NX2000 White 4

On the “smart” side, meanwhile, there’s a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen to control the camera, and integration with social networks for directly squirting off your images over a WiFi connection. WiFi Direct is supported, over WiFi b/g/n, and an onboard email client can be used for more old-fashioned sending of shots. Pair the NX2000 with Samsung’s SMART CAMERA App – a simple matter of tapping it with an NFC-enabled phone – and you can use the software as a remote viewfinder, as well as take advantage of its data connection.

Samsung will offer the NX2000 in three color variants – white, black, and pink – priced at $649.99.

Fujifilm FinePix JZ700 Digital Camera

Fujifilm FinePix JZ700 Digital CameraIt was not too long ago when we saw new digital camera releases from Japanese manufacturer Fujifilm, and this time around, we come face to face with the Fujifilm FinePix JZ700 digital camera which will be the latest addition to their JZ long zoom compact camera range. The FinePix JZ700 has been touted to be the ideal all-round-stylish camera, targeting those who look forward to fast response times.

For starters, the Fujifilm FinePix JZ700 comes with a 8x Fujinon lens in a stylish body that delivers a focal length of 24mm wide-angle to 192mm telephoto, accompanied by Optical Image Stabilization in order to compensate for camera shake and subject blurring whenever you capture a shot. There will also no longer be a CCD sensor under the hood as with previous JZ models, as that has been replaced by a powerful CMOS sensor. You can also record Full 1080p HD movies at 30fps when the situation calls for it, and the 2.7” 230K-dot LCD display would let you preview images without missing a beat.
