If last year’s Samsung Galaxy Camera looked like Dr. Frankenstein had sewn a point-and-shoot camera onto the back of a Galaxy S3, the new Galaxy NX is the opposite. It takes the Android UI 3G/4G/LTE connectivity of a smartphone, and slaps it onto the back of an interchangeable-lens camera.
We have a few ideas about what Samsung’s going to show off at its London event, but there’s still some mysteries, like that Galaxy NX camera and what it has planned for its Windows-based ATIV range. We’ll be there to fill you in on all the details, but Samsung promises that you’ll also be able to watch along on its YouTube channel. If that sounds like your cup of tea (it’s a London event, so we won’t apologize), bookmark the link below.

Jay-Z’s modestly entitled Magna Carta Holy Grail drops on the similarly nondescript Fourth of July. But despite his clear lowering of expectations for the album, he’s somehow found it within his heart to muster up some publicity by letting Samsung give away a million copies for free three days early. Galaxy owners only need apply.
While we’ve seen the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 officially draped in white and leaked in a golden brown variation, Samsung may have also given it the two-tone treatment. Techtastic recently got some photos from Mr. Blurrycam showing the tablet with a black face that’s complimented by a white bezel and home button. Spec-wise it’s reported to sport the same 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1,200 x 800 pixel touchscreen we’ve handled before, but there’s no denying its penguin tuxedo looks are in a class of their own. We have our doubts as to whether this color combination will actually hit retail (is it merely a developmental prototype?), but don’t let that stop you from grabbing a better look at the source link.

Samsung Galaxy NX mirrorless camera appears in press shots, may launch later this month
Posted in: Today's ChiliSamsung’s mobile chief JK Shin hinted that the company would soon be announcing an Android-powered mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera, and now the Galaxy NX is all but official. In press shots appearing on a Vietnamese gadget site, the device is pictured with a mirrorless mount and a trio of NX lenses. Judging from the body, the camera is likely to be closer in size to a DSLR than Samsung’s existing CSC lineup, with a large touchscreen occupying much of the rear.
Hardware controls are few and far between, and may be limited to a shutter release, video capture button, top-mounted dial and a pop-up flash release, along with the compulsory lens release to the left of the swappable optic. It’s said to include Android 4.2, a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, ISO sensitivity through 25,600 and 1080p video capture. Pricing info is still up in the air, as is an official announce date, which could very well be as soon as Samsung’s June 20th event in London. Hit up the source for a few more shots.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active official: water resistant, LTE-capable, coming to the US and Europe this summer
Posted in: Today's ChiliSamsung’s gone official with the Galaxy S 4 Active — once again, before the company’s incoming UK launch event. With IP67 water and dust protection — it’ll survive three feet of water for up to 30 minutes — as well as a 5-inch (TFT LCD) 1080p display (443 ppi), there’s an unspecified 1.9GHz quad-core processor to do the heavy lifting. Alongside LTE radios and Android 4.2.2, the GS4 Active packs an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, while the front-facer will take up to two-megapixel stillw.
Now, to match those outdoor protective credentials, there’s also a water-resistant headphone socket, Samsung’s ‘glove touch’ screen tech (meaning you’ll be able to handle it with gloves) and a special ‘aqua mode’ setting for the camera to improve all those underwater shots you’re bound to take with a submersible smartphone. (In fact, for meteorologists, there’s even an outdoors-y barometer built in too.) The phone launches in the US (most likely on AT&T) and Europe this summer, in Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare color options. We’re still waiting on pricing, but Samsung promises that we’ll be able to test it in the flesh at the aforementioned London event later this month.

There’s really nothing better than an insanely large image, and NASA created a large one of their own, except this isn’t an panorama of a landscape here on Earth. It’s an image of our nearest galaxy, the Large Magellanic Cloud. Astronomers at NASA and Pennsylvania State University used NASA’s Swift satellite to create the magnificent
And so it begins. With T-Mobile recently closing the deal to acquire MetroPCS, it was only a matter of time before we’d see more commingling. PhoneArena‘s uncovered yesterday that MetroPCS is about start using T-Mobile’s network and GSM handsets. Two phones which are currently available on T-Mobile — the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Exhibit (a Galaxy S III mini clone) and the LG Optimus L9 — are making their way to MetroPCS, complete with GSM / EDGE and AWS-capable UMTS / HSPA+ radios (no LTE). Pricing for these devices is still unknown, but the company’s expected to begin selling plans on T-Mobile’s network as soon a June 12th. In addition, a service called BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) will allow customers to bring their own GSM handsets to MetroPCS (excluding BlackBerry models). It’s unclear if eligible devices have to be unlocked and / or T-Mobile branded but we’ll find out soon enough. So there you have it — the start of a perfect honeymoon.

We know that Samsung’s tablet line is growing quickly when the Galaxy Note 8.0 is shipping, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 exists and an 8-inch Tab 3 may come soon. The company must want to drive the point home, however: it just passed another slate, the GT-P5210, through the FCC’s approval process. The filing carries few details, but it’s enough to confirm a 10-inch screen, a WiFi-only variant and a model name in line with the Galaxy Tab 3 family (the 7-inch unit is the P3210). There aren’t any telltale signs of a rumored Atom processor, though. We’re mostly wondering when the P5210 will launch in earnest. Logic suggests that Samsung’s June 20th event is a good candidate, but the tech giant doesn’t always wait for big occasions to release big devices.
