Just like smartphones, camcorders, too, do end up in situations where you wished that you were able to put over a plastic bag during wet situations so that your camcorder does not end up as another drowned casualty by the river or at the swimming pool. Waterproof smartphones have started to pop up in aesthetically pleasing formats recently, and here we are with JVC having worked on a trio of rugged, weather-proof Everio models that will allow you to capture your precious memories regardless of the weather condition, all the while boasting of an internal, long-life battery of up to 4.5 hours on a single charge.
The three JVC Everio camcorders in question would be the GZ-R70, GZ-R30 and GZ-R10, where they all would boast of JVC’s Quad-Proof structure, namely water resistance to a depth of 5 meters/16.4 feet, the ability to withstand a drop from 1.5 meters/4.9 feet, as well as dust-proof and freeze-proof down to –10˚C/14˚F. Despite such impressive credentials, they all arrive packaged in a familiar camcorder form factor that should not make it strange or difficult to operate. Apart from that, they also float just in case you happen to have lost your grip while recording, now how about that?
This new range of camcorders also offer a combination of performance capabilities and innovative features for those who want to take their videos to go beyond what a smartphone or other camcorders are able to deliver. Apart from their weather- and shock-proof attributes, JVC’s new Everio camcorders will also boast of a 40x optical zoom, 2.5 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, audio which can zooms with the picture, as well as compatibility with third-party editing software, where among them include iMovie and Final Cut Pro X.
The Everio GZ-R70 will retail for $499.95 a pop, as it arrives with 32GB of internal memory, while the $449.95 Everio GZ-R30 has 8GB of internal memory, with the $399.95 GZ-R10 arriving with just a memory card slot (the other two has memory card slots as well). Any takers?

[CES 2014] JVC today unveiled a new lineup of Everio camcorders that are immune to the elements. These rugged camcorders are water, dust, shock and freeze-proof, making them perfect companions to document your extreme adventures. Both models, GZ-R70 and GZR-10, feature JVC’s quad-proof structure which makes them water resistant up to 5m and able to withstand drops from as high as 1.5m. The camcorders will capture full 1080p HD video in temperatures as low as –10˚C/14˚F.
On a single charge, JVC claims that these two Everio models can provide 4.5 hours of battery life. Apart from that they feature 40x optical zoom, a 2.5 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, audio that zooms along with the picture, and compatibility with popular editing softwares such as Final Cut Pro X and iMovie. The company’s FALCONBRID engine facilitates efficient processing of audio and video to deliver optimum images and sound. Coupled with its K2 technology, the camcorders are capable of effectively restoring sound during playback so that elements like gusts of wind or traffic noise don’t spoil the soundtrack. JVC GZ-R70 with 32GB internal memory and a built-in LED light will be available in April 2014 for $499.95. The JVC GZ-R10 will be available in black, blue and red colors in March 2014 for $399.95.

The folks at JVC have revealed an imposingly simple looking line of televisions this week intent on making the world understand that they’re clear on consumer wishes for an absolute lack of bezel. The hero in this line is an LED-LCD TV with a 47-inch display ringing in at 1080p with Edge-lit technology. This machine is also internet ready with streaming services aplenty.
The JVC BlackSapphire SL works with JVC I.C.E., that’s Internet Connected Experience, coming in with Netflix, SlingPlayer, Vudy, and Pandora right out of the box. This massive television works to out-do the slightly less expensive JVC SP (Sapphire) series with passive 3D abilities working with four pairs of glasses that come in the box.
This set is controlled with a “flippable” QWERTY remote control with a dedicated Netflix shortcut button. You’ll be able to connect with three HDMI inputs, USB media port, and a series of composite video inputs. For those users wishing to conserve power and desire only the audio abilities of this machine (however strange that may seem), there’s also a 3.5mm so-called “music port” for use with an Audio Only mode included with the setup.
This television series also comes in a 42-inch iteration, while both versions work with a 120Hz processing engine to back up their adaptive backlight abilities under the hood. The smaller television JVC SL42B-C will ring in at $799 USD while the larger JVC SL47B-C will cost you a cool $899.
Both televisions in this series will be coming in the summer of 2013, and the whole lot will be created with Taiwanese company Amtran. You’ll have a difficult time finding a series of televisions with a look that’s more daunting!
