ASUS PadFone Infinity with Snapdragon 800 could simply be ‘The new PadFone Infinity’

ASUS' Snapdragon 800 refresh of the PadFone Infinity could simply be 'The new PadFone Infinity'

Following the original ASUS PadFone Infinity (A80) with Snapdragon 600 SoC, rumors of a new “PadFone Infinity A86” (or “PadFone T004”) go as far back as July 20th, with benchmark evidence showing a more powerful Snapdragon 800 enabling this mysterious device. While details are still light, several eagle-eyed PadFone fans have started noticing a new name on ASUS’ tech support page: “The new PadFone Infinity.” Assuming this is more of an official name and less of a placeholder, it looks like we’ll be seeing an identical-looking device sporting Qualcomm’s latest piece of silicon; and perhaps a launch is imminent — maybe at IFA next week? But ASUS, it really wouldn’t hurt if you guys can throw in a microSD slot plus a dedicated keyboard dock as well this time. Remember the original PadFone? Good times.

Dual-SIM HTC One Max for China Unicom leaked, may pack a fingerprint reader

DualSIM HTC One Max for China Unicom leaked, may pack a fingerprint reader

Much like HTC itself, leaksters have also been hard at work to help promote this company. Courtesy of ePrice, the latest spy shots feature the upcoming 5.9-inch One Max, and specifically, this is a dual-SIM model destined for China Unicom. Like the One Dual (or better known as 802w, 802t or 802d in China), this much bigger device sports a removable metallic back cover for access to the dual SIM slots, along with what appears to be a microSD slot at the top right corner. There are also a set of docking pins towards the bottom right on the back, so chances are we’ll see official dock accessories for this bad boy.

Sony’s Honami model exposed again, this time at China’s FCC equivalent

Sony's Honami model exposed again, this time at China's FCC equivalent

Thought the leaks of Sony’s Honami, aka the Xperia Z1, might slow down with yesterday’s teaser of a September 4th launch? Not even close. This time, it was China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (TENAA) betraying the newly-passed handset with a display of four perp-like shots. Though there’s no specs listed, and we’ve already seen a lot of leaked blurrygrams, it’s nice to see clear, finished photos of the device — even with a bit of bench dust on it.

HTC to show its soft side with Hello Kitty edition Butterfly s

HTC to launch Hello Kitty edition Butterfly s,

The number of times Hello Kitty’s popped up on Engadget over the years is quite astonishing, and thanks to HTC, the cat leaves yet another paw print here. Earlier today, our Taiwanese brethren received an invitation (embedded after the break) for next Monday’s launch of the Butterfly s Hello Kitty limited edition. Interestingly and perhaps unsurprisingly, the cartoon character is seen wearing a uniform similar to that of EVA Air, a local airline that now operates five Hello Kitty edition planes.

Later on, a Mobile01 forum user followed up with what appears to be a spy shot of said phone’s printed ad, as shown above. Here you can see the feline’s head — with her butterfly hair clip highlighted for obvious reasons — dominating the white back of the 5-inch phone. And with that cute wallpaper, we assume there will be other Hello Kitty features on the software side as well. All will be revealed next week, of course. Meanwhile, we’re secretly hoping HTC’s also planning on a One Max with a glowing arc reactor stuck on the back.

Sony teases likely Xperia Z1 Honami device on video, confirms September 4th arrival

Sony teases likely Xperia Z1 Honami device on video, confirms September 4th arrival

It appears that Sony is about to finally put an end to the rampant Honami smartphone speculation on September 4th. It just released a teaser video showing various oblique angles of the camera-centric handset, rumored to be called the Xperia Z1. Previous reports pointed to a 21-megapixel sensor, 4K shooting capability, a Snapdragon 800 processor, and a 5-inch, 1080p display. The video after the break shows its apparent waterproof talents as well, so a September 4th launch would put an end to the all the leaking.

Sony Honami smartphone gets an official teaser, a few unofficial photos

Sony Honami pops up in official teaser, very unofficial photos

The buzz surrounding Sony’s Honami smartphone is reaching a fever pitch, and Sony itself is finally joining in with a new teaser image for the device. The official shot only confirms the presence of a G-branded camera lens and an LED flash. However, it coincides with a new batch of unofficial photos on Digi-Wo that show the Honami in white at a Sony event. While there’s nothing new in the pictures beyond the color, it’s clear that the Android flagship is nearing its debut. The company isn’t mentioning any launch details itself. However, we won’t be surprised if the new Xperia appears at IFA next week.
