LG G3 For Verizon Press Render Leaked

LG G3 For Verizon Press Render LeakedCome 27th of May, LG is expected to announce their next flagship smartphone, the LG G3. LG has not really been coy about the handset, and it was recently that they uploaded a teaser video to tease us about its impending announcement. However in the meantime, @evleaks has managed to get a leaked render of the upcoming handset.

As you can see in the image above, the LG G3 is expected to make its way onto Verizon’s network, at least based on what we can see from the carrier logos plastered across the handset. As it stands we’re not sure which carriers the LG G3 will be making its way on, but we can only assume that it should at least make its way onto all the four major carriers – AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

As a quick recap for those who might have missed the news, the LG G3 is said to pack a 5.5-inch display with a QHD display, giving phones like the HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 a run for its money (at least until the Galaxy S5 Prime). It also appears to sport some kind of brushed metallic look, lending a more premium feel to the device, especially for those who might not appreciate plastic as much.

Availability has not yet been mentioned either, but presumably LG will have more details to share with everyone else come 27th May, so do check back with us then for the details. In the meantime, who else is excited for the LG G3?

LG G3 Design “Makes You Forget” Its 5.5” Size: LG Teaser Video

LG Korea has posted a new LG G3 teaser a few hours ago, which points out that LG intends to come out with a large display form-factor that won’t feel like a regular “phablet”. Looking back at the 5.2” LG G2 and at the various leaks that have been coming out, it’s believable. As I pointed out in my own review of the G2, it did feel very much like a 4.9”-5.0” Smartphone when using it on a daily basis.

So far, the leaked G3 photos hint at a clean design with a thin bezel and what looks like a reduced display frame space at the top and the bottom. What’s out there supports the overall idea that it will most likely be the 5.5” Smartphone with a perceived smaller size.

Based on the G3 leaked specifications that we previously published, the LG G3’s dimensions are 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9mm. Compare that to another famous 5.5” phone like the Galaxy Note 3 which is 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm big. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm.

Note 3 (in mm)151.279.28.3
G3146.274.68.9
S514272.58.1

From those numbers, it looks like it has chosen to reduce the phone’s width and height, but made it 0.6mm thicker to provide nearly the same internal volume as the Galaxy Note 3. This may be a good choice because we’ve seen in the past that phones that are super-thin like the Motorola RAZR leave a space between the phone and the palm of the hand that could be exploited to augment the interval volume of the phone, while making it more “comfortable” to hold at the same time.

As we’re nearing the LG G3 launch date, more details are coming out, and between the 4K Display, the new “metal” industrial design and what seems to be a smaller footprint form-factor, LG is getting ready up for a great launch. In less than two years, the LG Mobile team has consistently pushed the envelope and made one of the most remarkable comeback in Smartphone history. Spotted in the UK, the LG G3 has already gone through the FCC, so brace for the U.S version.

LG G3 Screenshots Hint At New UI, ‘Concierge Service’

LG G3 Screenshots Hint At New UI, Concierge Service

LG is yet to unveil its 2014 flagship smartphone. The LG G3 is expected to be far better than its predecessor. We exclusively confirmed first that it is going to have a 2K display, the company corroborated the report a little later. Now what about the things you’ll actually seen on that display everyday? Purported LG G3 homescreen screenshots have leaked online which hint at a fresh new user interface as well as a new “concierge” service.

The screenshots show a much cleaner and flatter user interface, a revamped notification drawer with circular icons and a revamped weather widget. Digitaltrends, which claims to have received these screenshots from a “trusted industry source,” says that the screens originally had a 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution, yet another confirmation of the fact that the G3 is going to have a 2K display. LG will be the first major manufacturer to adopt this display technology.

Underneath the weather and time widget you can see that the G3 advises the user to take an umbrella as rain is expected. Sources claim that its a part of LG’s new “concierge” service which will debut with the G3, though apparently the name of this service hasn’t been finalized as yet. It will essentially be LG’s own take on Google Now but the scribe hears concierge will “go beyond Google’s system.”

Essentially the service’s focus would be to learn the user’s habits in order to deliver better suggestions. The service wouldn’t be groundbreaking in any aspect but it would certainly be a welcome addition on LG’s next flagship. Rumor has it that the LG G3 is scheduled for release this July.

LG G3 Mini Headed For AT&T (Rumor)

LG G3 Mini Headed For AT&T (Rumor)The upcoming flagship LG G3 device has yet to be officially released, but it does seem as though there is a mini version of the LG G3 already. Rumors of the LG G3 mini have begun to make its rounds, where a device that carries the model number LG D725 has been seen in a leaked document, carrying the codename “B2 mini”. Considering how the LG G3 is widely tipped by many to be called the B2, the B2 mini would naturally lead one to conclude that this is the LG G3 mini.

In the leaked document, the the LG D725 happens to be the AT&T variant of the device, which means we could be looking at the LG G3 mini making its way to AT&T in due time. Some of the hardware specifications that were mentioned in the document would include a 720p display of unknown resolution, Android 4.4.2 KitKat as the operating system of choice, an 8-megapixel shooter located at the back.

Of course, do take this particular rumor with a pinch of salt since it is not that difficult to forge documents, although it would not be surprising to see the LG G3 mini materialize considering how major smartphone manufacturers are moving in the mini direction for their flagship models.

LG Confirms First Mobile Processor Enters Production In The Near Future

LG Confirms First Mobile Processor Enters Production In The Near Future

There have been countless rumors about LG developing its very own system-on-a-chip. Recent rumors suggested that it may be called Odin. Apparently its based on a big.LITTLE configuration with four 2.2GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.7GHz Cortex-A7 cores. Without commenting on the specifics, a published report out of Korea today includes confirmation from an LG Electronics spokesperson that the company is indeed going to start producing its first mobile processors “soon.”

Gold LG G3 Reportedly Coming This Summer

With flagships from HTC and Samsung out of the way we now looks towards LG. The company has been relatively quiet during the first few months of 2014. So far it hasn’t said much about its next flagship which will presumably be called the LG G3. Last week we exclusively reported that it is going to have a 2K display, LG later confirmed the report. It is now being said that the next flagship will be launched “in a golden hue” this summer. A purported picture of its retail packaging has also appeared online.

LG G3 Japanese Market Variant Presumably Leaked Online

LG G3 Japanese Market Variant Presumably Leaked Online

With HTC and Samsung already having released their 2014 flagships, all eyes are now on LG to make its move. Latest rumors suggest that the LG G3 might be released in July, but the company hasn’t officially confirmed anything as yet. Today press shots of a mysterious high-end LG smartphone appeared online, presumably it is the Japanese market variant of LG’s 2014 flagship.

The press shots were leaked online by infamous Twitter leaker @evleaks, who has been right about these things at numerous occasions in the past. As per the tweet accompanying press shots, this smartphone is called the LG isai and it is destined for KDDI in Japan. Apart from the moniker and carrier, nothing else has been revealed about the LG isai just yet. It is not known what this smartphone is packing under the hood.

Impressively the LG isai has ultra slim bezels, presumably to better accommodate the 5.5 inch 2K display. We exclusively reported earlier this week that LG’s next flagship is going to have a 2K display. Plus the fact that it has a volume rocker on the back, underneath the camera, makes it easier for us to believe that this is indeed a high-end LG smartphone.

Though we must be cautious with presumptions at this point since LG hasn’t confirmed anything as yet. For all we know this might be a smartphone that’s only destined for the Japanese market, and that it may bear no resemblance to the much awaited LG G3. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information.

LG G3 Rumored For June Announcement, July Release

LG G3 Rumored For June Announcement, July ReleaseAre you looking forward to the LG G3? After all it was only recently that thanks to a leaked photo and confirmation from LG, it has been revealed that the phone will sport a 2560×1440 2K display. This would pretty much make LG the first mainstream smartphone vendor to offer such a device in the market, assuming of course Samsung does not beat them to the punch.

So now that the display of the phone has been confirmed, we know that the device is very real, but when will it launch? Well according to ZDNet Korea, their sources have suggested that the phone could see a launch in the later part of June which could also see the release of the handset in the early part of July.

This seems to go against earlier rumors that pointed at an August release, but apparently this was pushed forward thanks to Samsung’s early release of the Galaxy S5, not to mention LG would have to compete against Apple’s rumored dual iPhones in September, so a release in July would give them time to gain more market share and sell more phones.

In terms of specs, the leaked photo also seemed to confirm that the handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, mainly thanks to the use of the Adreno 330 GPU. It is also unclear as to how big the phone’s display will be, but the photo showed off a density of 640 DPI which is apparently wrong, but previous rumors have suggested anywhere between 5.2-inches to 5.5-inches.

In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information, so do check back with us at a later date for more details!

LG G3 Photo Confirms 2560×1440 Resolution [Exclusive]

LG G3 Photo Confirms 2560x1440 Resolution [Exclusive]We’re not yet in that crazy pre-launch rumor phase with the upcoming LG G3 phone, but things may start to heat up now: we have obtained a photo from a source that has proven reliable in the past, and we are 99.99% sure that this is indeed a photo of the LG G2 successor.

Given that the GPU is a Qualcomm Adreno 330, I would assume that the main processor aka SoC is the Snapdragon 801 since there’s no reason to use a Snapdragon 800 at this point in time. They are both pin-compatible and the 801 is designed to be a drop-in replacement.

The most interesting information that Snapdragon 801 is giving us is the timeframe. Because Snapdragon 805 should be available for Q3/Q4 handsets, the G3 should come out before Sep/Oct. The June 2014 G3 launch rumor seems believable.

Note: Antutu is apparently not displaying the proper DPI information. A previous version of this post referenced 640 dpi, but it wouldn’t quite match a 5.2″ – 5.5″ display, which is the most probable size for the G3.

The most pertinent information here is the 2560×1440 screen, which is totally insane by today’s smartphone standards. We have reached out to LG, and they have confirmed that their next product will indeed have a 2560×1440 display (2K). However, that’s all the information that the company is willing to comment about at this point.

If you thought that the 6.1″ 2560×1600, 498DPI IGZO display from Sharp was impressive, LG is productizing this first, which is not a complete surprise since LG showed a prototype to the world last year.

The bezel seems a hair thicker than it is on the LG G2, but without a complete picture and the actual screen size (which is possibly between 5.2” and 5.5”), it’s difficult to reach any conclusion.

Previous rumors called the LG G3 LS990 and did mention the 2560×1440 resolution along with the Snapdragon 801 chip, both of which would be confirmed by this photo, and that seems to put the Mediatek octo-core rumor at odds. Since LG and Qualcomm have been working very closely, and since LG seems to put most of its software efforts in improving the apps, I doubt that the Mediatek rumor is true – we’ll see.

The internal storage of 32GB would make sense, but isn’t confirmed yet. The LG user interface is also said to have been modified in favor of a “flat” design, but this photo doesn’t help us confirm that either. If you are curious, the LG G3 interface is supposed to look like this.
