Panasonic unveiled its slick new LUMIX GH4 DSLM, or Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera a month or so back. The camera promises professional image quality along with the ability to record 4K resolution video at a lower price than comparable DSLR cameras.
Panasonic has now announced that the GH4 camera body will sell for $1699.99(USD). In addition, there will be a professional audio/video interface accessory which provides 2 XLR audio inputs and a broadcast quality 3G-SDI video output terminal with time code capability. That bit of kit will go for another $1999.99. Both devices are available for pre-order now, and will ship in late April.
The GH4 camera has a new 16.05MP Digital Live MOS Sensor and uses the Venus Engine for high speed and high sensitivity recording. The camera has professional grade, 49-area auto focus in both still and video modes. The camera also has Wi-Fi and NFC technology for easy pairing with compatible wireless devices.
The Panasonic Lumix GH4, a digital camera that was first announced at the beginning of February, and has already been priced on a Dutch website for €1,499 a pop, is all set to hit the US, where its pricing details have been revealed as well. The Panasonic Lumix GH4 is a mirrorless camera that is capable of recording 4K video for less than $2,000 – or rather, $1,700 to be exact. Do bear in mind that this will be for the camera body itself only, where underneath the hood you will find a 16MP CMOS Micro Four Thirds sensor, alongside an optional YAGH pro audio/video interface unit that will set those who are interested back by an additional $2,000.

Accessible 4K video shooting is still in its infancy, but it was only a matter of time before it started showing up in consumer cameras. The Panasonic GH line’s history of robust video capability makes it a natural fit for 4K, and the new Lumix GH4 squeezes as much as it can into a familiar frame.
[CES 2014] Not all digital compact cameras are created equal, although at times, I do wonder as to the wisdom of churning out point-and-shoot models considering how the high end smartphone cameras these days are able to deliver pretty decent shots. Well, CES 2014 is the platform for the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS40 to shine, where this particular compact camera will boast of 30x Ultra Zoom capability alongside Wi-Fi and NFC capability, not to mention GPS navigation. Not only that, it comes with a fully flexible manual shooting mode and 60p Full HD video recording capability to boot.
This super slim digital compact camera will feature a LVF (Live View Finder) that boasts of a powerful 30x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 24-720mm) and it will also boast of functions that will help you enjoy a more advanced level of photography including a Control Ring, RAW compatibility and Focus Peaking. Panasonic has also successfully integrated a 24mm ultra wide-angle 30x zoom lens into a slim, flat body and the advanced HYBRID O.I.S.+ (Hybrid Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) that should do its job in eliminating the shaky hands effect whenever you shoot a photo or capture a video. Are there any takers for the Lumix DMC-ZS40? [Press Release]

We’re getting a bunch of new digital cameras this week and Panasonic definitely doesn’t want to be left behind. Panasonic unveils 16MP Lumix GX7 Micro Four Thirds camera, 42.5mm f/1.2 lens
Posted in: Today's ChiliThere’s not much to reveal about Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-GX7 since it leaked (nearly) in full just days ago, but now it’s official. This 16-megapixel Live MOS shooter is Panny’s latest Micro Four Thirds offering aimed squarely at prosumers. This retro-styled camera is a much svelter option than the video-focused GH-3 ($1,500) thanks to its magnesium alloy casing. Along with in-body image stabilization and a swift shutter that tops out at 1/8000th of a second, the ISO tops out at 25,600. If video is your concern, it’ll capture 1080p footage at 60 fps (24 Mbps) in AVCHD.
While the GX7 will burst shoot with autofocus tracking at 4.3 fps, its electronic shutter lets it hit 40 fps if pure speed is what you’re after — while we’re on it, the shutter will also operate in a silent mode. Notably, a vertically-tiltable 16:9 Live View Finder is onboard, packing a resolution of 2.76 million dots and the ability to fire off the autofocus once it detects an eye. Two control dials aid in manual settings along with a rear-facing LCD touchscreen, which tilts up to 80-degrees. If all that wasn’t enough, built-in WiFi and NFC allow for the likes of remote viewfinder apps and sharing media.

The GX7 will hit the US this November in a silver and black colorway priced at $1,100 with a 14-42mm kit lens, and $1,000 for just the body itself. A sleathier all-black variant will also be available, though only in Japan. Aside from the camera, a new Lumix lens with Leica tech will also hit shelves, offering a 45mm 42.5mm focal length with a speedy f/1.2 aperture — the fastest in the lineup to date. Hit the press releases after the break for more details.
Update: We’ve corrected the focal length of the fast prime lens, which is 42.5mm rather than the 45mm we originally reported.

With the Lumix GX7, Panasonic has created a pretty spectacular looking hybrid of all the mirrorless, interchangeable-lens camera technology the company has been developing over the last few years. We can’t wait.
