When the Nikon D600 was launched, it was shortly after that photographers started to notice that there were dust and oil spots on its sensor. Naturally this did not sit well with many photographers. After all they paid good money for a product only to find out that it has this issue. Of course getting the sensor cleaned isn’t a problem, but it can be a tedious and expensive process, especially if one has to keep at it multiple times.
Well the good news is that after having a class-action lawsuit filed against them over this issue, Nikon has since issued a statement on its website in which they are basically offering Nikon D600 customers free cleaning, free shutter replacements, and free shipping to get the problem fixed. But wait, the Nikon D600 is kind of old, what if your warranty has expired? (more…)

Nikon D4S Announced
Posted in: Today's ChiliNikon has just announced their latest flagship FX-format digital SLR camera, which is known as the Nikon D4S. This particular shooter (doesn’t the naming convention somewhat remind you of the iPhone, with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, followed by more of the same with the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s?) will be based on the Nikon D4, where the D4S is capable of responding in a far more complete manner to what professional photographers love, delivering revisions to a range of features and functions, where among them include AF performance, image quality, workflow and operation, in addition to movie recording.

At the professional level
Photographers have been urging Canon and Nikon, the two camera making titans, to put their hearts into the still-budding mirrorless camera market for years. It’s gotten to the point that even their competitors, like Fujifilm, want them to get with the times.
When it comes to digital compact cameras, these are dime a dozen out there in the market, although you would find that most folks would want to take the route of the DSLR or a System Camera in order to capture better looking shots. Nikon still sees the Coolpix range of digital compact cameras as part of their bread and butter, and has recently introduced a trio of models under the Nikon Coolpix S-series, where they will all feature a high-power zoom model that is equipped with a range of exposure modes, a Wi-Fi function, location data functions with a built-in world map, and support for movie recording with 5-axis vibration reduction, in addition to a family model which delivers simple operation and features including water- and shockproof capability.
First of all, we have the Nikon Coolpix S9700 which is a super high-power zoom model that will boast of a 30x optical zoom lens, a quartet of exposure modes which will expand shooting possibilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, and location data functions with a built-in world map.
As for the Nikon Coolpix S9600, this stylish, compact model will be able to deliver simple operation and comes equipped with a Pre-focus autofocus mode, Glamour Retouch functions, and supports recording of movies with 5-axis vibration reduction
For those who feel that their little ones could be a liability when it comes to handling a camera, or simply want to be prepared for those unexpected moments, then the Nikon Coolpix S32 would fit the bill perfectly. Touted to be a “worry-free” model, just about anyone is able to enjoy snapping photos using this bad boy as it comes with advanced water- and shockproof capabilities. You can basically use it in depths of up to approximately 10 meters deep, and it can withstand falls from a height of approximately 1.5 m. There is also an Image Lock function so that everyone who uses it would not delete any of the images by accident.
Any takers out there for the cameras above?

Nikon D4 Listed As Discontinued
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe Nikon D4 was announced back in 2012, suggesting that perhaps it might be about time that Nikon announce an upgrade. That update is rumored to be the Nikon D4S which we have been hearing about recently, and if a recent Nikon invite is to be believed, come 11th of February that is when we can expect Nikon to make an announcement related to the Nikon D4S. In any case for those who remain slightly skeptical about this news, here’s further proof that the Nikon D4S cold be in the works and prime for an announcement, as major US retailers have since listed the Nikon D4 as having been discontinued.
These major retailers include websites such as B&H, Adorama, and Amazon, all of whom are pretty big names when it comes to purchasing cameras online, so presumably they know something we don’t otherwise they would not have simply listed the camera as being discontinued. Now the good news is that the rumors are also claiming that the Nikon D4S, despite being a newer and better camera, will be priced the same as the Nikon D4, meaning that we can expect it to be priced at around the $5,999.99 mark for the body-only. In any case hopefully more details will be revealed on the 11th of February, so check back with us then for the details.

There are cameras, and then there are cameras. Nikon continues to raise the bar with their latest digital compact camera known as the Nikon Coolpix AW120. Just what makes the Nikon Coolpix AW120 so special from most of the cameras that are out there in the market? Judging by the external pattern alone on the image above, you get a picture that the Coolpix AW120 is not a fragile device, bearing the rough-and-tumble markings of a soldier’s uniform camouflage. Well, we are pleased to say that the Nikon Coolpix AW120 happens to be waterproof, shock-proof and cold-resistant model, and it does not come up short in terms of capability either, as it boasts of a wide-angle 24mm zoom NIKKOR lens that offers a maximum aperture of f/2.8, making it fast enough for shooting underwater and in dark surroundings.
Apart from that, the Nikon Coolpix AW120 will also be accompanied by five-axis vibration reduction which will effectively suppress the effects of camera shake with movie recording. On the outside, the tough material used to encase the sensitive electronics within delivers worry-free use in hard-core outdoor situations, where it is also waterproof to depths of approximately 18 meters. As for its shockproof capabilities, it can withstand falls from up to approximately two meters, and the cold-proofing has been done in such a way that it can withstand temperatures as low as approximately -10°C.
Not only that, you will find a range of functions which can support an active outdoor life, including a built-in world map, functions for acquiring location data from GPS and GLONASS satellites, and functions that display altitude, water depth, atmospheric pressure, and water pressure in the camera monitor. the integrated Wi-Fi capability also makes it a snap for the avid shutterbug to transfer photos from one smart device to another without having to deal with pesky wired cables, making life a whole lot more convenient. Could the Coolpix AW120 usher in the golden era of the Olympus Mju all over again?
