Nikon Unveils Coolpix P600, Coolpix S9700, Coolpix P530, Coolpix P340

Nikon Unveils Coolpix P600, Coolpix S9700, Coolpix P530, Coolpix P340It seems that ahead of CP+ which is taking place next week, Nikon has decided to unveil a host of new cameras. This isn’t too surprising given that Nikon’s announcements during CP+ will probably be overshadowed by announcements made by other manufacturers, so this is one way of getting the leg up on the competition. That being said, Nikon, in addition to the Coolpix AW120 rugged camera that we just covered, has announced four additional new Coolpix cameras in the form of the Coolpix P600, Coolpix P530, Coolpix PS9700, and the Coolpix P340. Nikon Sends Invites For 11th February Event

Nikon Sends Invites For 11th February EventIf you’re looking forward to new camera announcements from Nikon, you might not have to wait too long. It seems that the Japanese camera manufacturer has recently started to send out invites to an event that they will be holding on the 11th of February 2014, which is next Tuesday. Given that CP+ will be kicking off on the 13th of February, we’re guessing that this announcement will be a pre-CP+ announcement which Nikon is probably hoping will not be drowned out by the excitement of the show in which we expect many manufacturers to unveil new camera-related products as well.

It is unclear as to what exactly Nikon might have in store for us come 11th of February, but if the rumors are to be believed, chances are the company could be looking to announce the Nikon D4S. The camera’s specs have yet to be confirmed, but it was early on in January that Nikon confirmed the existence of the device, and given that the Nikon D4 was designed to be a tool used by professionals, we reckon it will be the same for the Nikon D4S as well. Based on the model number, we expect it to be an upgraded variant of the Nikon D4 but check back with us during the 11th of February anyway for all the details.

Nikon Reportedly Replacing Some D600 Cameras With D610 Units

d610Back in 2013, Nikon announced a new DSLR camera in the form of the Nikon D610. The camera was not exactly a huge upgrade over the Nikon D600 which was announced back in 2012, but one of the main things that it did was to solve the issue of dust particles landing on the sensor of the camera which we can only imagine is quite annoying when trying to take a photo, or having photos ruined because of a speck of dust. Now it does seem a little bit unfair that Nikon D600 owners still have to stick to their cameras, unless of course they’re willing to spend more money and get the D610, but it looks like Nikon could be replacing some D600 units with D610 for either free or for a small fee.

This is according to the folks at Nikon Rumors who have been receiving reports from Europe and the US where Nikon  has been replacing their D600 cameras with D610 units when they send them in for repair or cleaning, and in some instances, customers were charged a small fee if they wanted to upgrade from the D600 to the D610. We’re not sure how Nikon determines if a customer is eligible for an upgrade to the D610. It could depend on how many times you have come in for a sensor cleaning, or it could be dependent on how new your D600 unit was. In any case this seems like a departure from Nikon’s standard operating procedure in which they basically replace the shutter mechanism for D600 units.

Nikon NIKKOR Lenses Production Hits 85 Million Mark

Nikon NIKKOR Lenses Production Hits 85 Million MarkHere is some interesting news from the folks over at Nikon Corporation, where they are more than happy to announce that the total production of NIKKOR lenses for Nikon interchangeable lens cameras have touched the 85 million mark as of January 2014 onward. It was all the way back in 1959 when the Nikon F was released alongside the first NIKKOR lenses for Nikon SLR cameras, where among them include the NIKKOR-S Auto 5cm f/2. The NIKKOR tradition has since continued a fair number of years ever since that first lens was released.

    The Best of CES 2014

    The Best of CES 2014

CES ain’t quite what it used to be. Pretty much all the big guys have pulled out in favor of doing their own events. The phones are OK and the 4K TVs pretty, but a dime a dozen. But there are still some hidden treasures that are amazing. Here’s all the stuff from CES that made us squeal with glee.
