Nokia X Sees 1 Million Pre-Orders In China

Nokia X Sees 1 Million Pre Orders In ChinaBack in February during MWC 2014, Nokia took the wraps off a trio of Android handsets called the Nokia X, Nokia X+, and the Nokia XL. All three devices weren’t high-end by any means, but were considered to be low-mid ranged, but that’s not a bad thing since this would essentially allow Nokia to compete with the likes of Samsung who has a slew of low-end handsets as well.

Interestingly enough despite the hype and anticipation, Nokia revealed that the Nokia X handset would not be seeing a release in key markets like the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. Instead it would be launching in countries such as Malaysia and China, just to name a few. (more…)

Nokia Says It’s Disappointed With Indian Court Ruling That Rejected Asset Transfer To Microsoft

Nokia’s transfer of its Indian manufacturing unit and other assets in the country to Microsoft is facing a legal hurdle that could force the Finnish phone maker to take some extreme steps including potential shutdown of the plant. If the Indian manufacturing plant is not transferred to Microsoft, it could mean less money for Nokia from the Microsoft deal. After India’s Supreme Court on… Read More

Nokia Lumia 930 Is The Nokia Martini [Rumor]

It wasn’t too long ago that we caught wind that Nokia might have a new Windows Phone handset in the works called the Nokia Martini. This was revealed not too long after MWC 2014 where the Finnish company unveiled new Asha handsets and their Nokia X lineup of Android phones, so safe to say many were expecting Windows Phone handsets to be announced further down the line.

That being said, @evleakshas recently tweeted that the Nokia Martini is actually the codename for the Nokia Lumia 930, which based on earlier rumors and speculation, would basically be the international variant of the Nokia Lumia Icon. (more…)

Nokia Power Keyboard Now Available On AT&T And Verizon

Nokia Power Keyboard Now Available On AT&T And VerizonThe Nokia Lumia 2520 which was released in October last year happened to be Nokia’s maiden attempt at a Windows RT tablet. The Nokia Lumia 2520 arrived with some pretty mean hardware specifications back in the day, where one could notice plenty of sleek design elements which were found on its range of Windows Phone powered Lumia handsets. Considering how the Nokia Lumia 2520 was touted to be a productivity tablet, the lack of a keyboard accessory due to delays might have hindered its success.

Microsoft Nokia Deal Cleared In China, Might Proceed Without Nokia IndiaNot everyone is a fan of Microsoft’s impending acquisition of Nokia. Last we heard, Korea would be joining China and India in opposing the deal, but according to a recent report from the Business Standard, it has been suggested that whatever dispute Microsoft and Nokia had with the Chinese authorities and companies has since been settled.

In fact the deal is expected to be closed in 20 days, but the report goes on to claim that the deal might close without Nokia India, at least for now. For those who haven’t been following the news, the deal was met with resistance by the Indian government who claims that Nokia owes them a huge sum of money in unpaid taxes. (more…)

    Nokia Patents Swiss Roll-Like Battery

Nokia Patents Swiss Roll Like BatteryFor a phone to be truly flexible, what it needs is more than just a display than can be bent. We’ve seen LG and Samsung attempt to create phones with slightly more obvious curves, but they are only curved to a certain extent. What companies need next is other companies that can be bent, like batteries, for example.

Well it seems that Nokia might have thought of something similar in the past, thanks to a recently discovered patent in which Nokia describes a battery design in which it can be rolled up, much like a Swiss roll. (more…)

Delta Airlines Upgrading Nokias To Lumia 1520

Delta Airlines Upgrading Nokias To Lumia 1520It seems that Delta Airlines has decided it is time for the old to go, and the new (relatively speaking, of course) to arrive. We are referring to the airline making the move to upgrade their bunch of Nokia Lumia 820 smartphones to that of the newer Nokia Lumia 1520 devices. At point of publishing, existing flight attendants make use of the Nokia Lumia 820 in order to take down in-flight food orders, although the bigger sized Lumia 1520 would come in handy as there is more visual area to look at, in addition to allowing the flight attendants to begin selling seat upgrades on the flight itself.

Nokia Patent Hints At Interactive Bezels

Nokia Patent Hints At Interactive BezelsBezels are a necessary part of screens, although in some cases they actually detract from the overall design as they can be too thick. Over the years we’ve seen bezels shrink to the point where it’s almost invisible, but at the same time what this means is that manufacturers are looking on the ability to use bezels as a means of interaction.

Apple has tried to be smart about this by introducing a technology into their newer iPads where it will allow the user to grip the screen by the edge but not have it interact with tablet. This will save users from accidentally presses due to the bezels being thin. However Nokia has something else in mind, thanks to a recent patent which hints at interactive bezels. (more…)
