New specs have appeared giving us a look inside the Nokia X Android model, suggesting it’ll be a very low-spec budget phone. Conspiracy theorists might even suggest Nokia’s making a rubbish Android phone on purpose, to make its WP models look better in comparison.
So we’re pretty sure you guys have heard about the upcoming Nokia Normandy by now. For those who haven’t, it is an Android device made by Nokia that will supposedly make its debut at MWC 2014. Now based on what we have heard so far, the Normandy might not necessarily be the most powerful Android phone at the moment, with a dual-core 1GHz processor and a 4-inch display, but according to a series of tweets by the ever reliable @evleaks, it has been revealed that the Normandy might have undergone some hardware improvements ahead of its launch at MWC 2014. The Nokia Lumia 1320 is a mid-range phablet that has already been released over in emerging markets – especially the two most populous countries in the world, China and India, but this does not mean that there will be no more units left available for the rest of the world. No sir, in fact, we do know that the folks over at Amazon have begun to sell the Nokia Lumia 1320 in the US with an asking price of $425 a pop. This will be an unlocked unit of the international model for the Lumia 1320, which means there will not be integrated support for US LTE bands.

It’s interesting that despite Microsoft’s impending acquisition of Nokia that there are rumors floating about that Nokia could still go ahead and launch their Android handset. We have been hearing the rumors about the Nokia Normandy, which has also been referred to as Nokia X, and how it is possible that Nokia might make the handset official at MWC 2014 which is taking place in February. As if to confirm that the device will actually go on sale, a Vietnamese website called The Gioididong has put the handset up on its website as a listing, although it cannot be bought yet, and has also seemingly “confirmed” some of the rumored specs we have been hearing about all this while. Another day, another leak. Having said that, the Nokia Lumia 1520 looks all set to be on the receiving end of a mini version of itself – something that we are all getting used to. After all, there is the iPad mini, the Galaxy S3 mini, and all other kinds of mini variants of a flagship device, where most of them will feature some economy in terms of the features within. The same can be said of the Nokia Lumia 1520 as well with photos of the Nokia Lumia 1520 mini having leaked out.

Ah, the Nokia Lumia Icon – this particular smartphone sure has generated a fair amount of interest over the past few weeks, and as we see more and more leaks arriving, you can only say one thing about the handset – that it is well on its way to a rollout in the near future. The Nokia Lumia Icon is also known by another name, the Nokia Lumia 929, and as mentioned earlier, has had its fair share of leaks in the past. Apparently, a dummy unit of the Nokia Lumia Icon has already made its way to a Fry’s store over in San Marcos, California. To make matters more confusing to the uninitiated, the Nokia Lumia Icon there was listed as the Lumia 928 rather than the Lumia 929.

Nokia Lumia 1520V Leaked Yet Again
Posted in: Today's ChiliWe have read about how Sony intends to prevent leaks of their upcoming handsets through a particularly easy method – by blocking benchmark apps from running on their prototype devices. It sounds like a no-brainer, doesn’t it? However, that move would not stop a potential leakster from shooting a photo of an upcoming device and sharing it with the rest of the world over the Internet. This is the case with the Nokia Lumia 1520V, where more live images of the device has hit the news.

Next month, the Mobile World Congress 2014 kicks off in Barcelona. Nokia has already sent out invitations for its press conference which takes place in Barcelona on February 24th. The invite itself doesn’t hint at any imminent product launch, though rumor has it that a few Lumia smartphones and even the much rumored “Normandy” Android phone will be unveiled at the conference. The company made no mention of upcoming products in its recent quarterly earnings report, in which it revealed that 8.2 million Lumia smartphones were sold in the last quarter.

Nokia placed a big bet on Windows Phone when it axed Symbian and agreed to develop smartphones that would only run on Microsoft’s mobile platform. It was able to make the arrangement work, closing out with over 92 percent of the entire global Windows Phone market. Its Lumia lineup has been very successful, particularly in emerging markets where the Lumia 520 has singlehandedly lead the Windows Phone charge. The once iconic manufacturer agreed last year to sell its device business to Microsoft, making 2013 the last year in which Nokia would function as a full-fledged handset manufacturer. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been able to go out on top, Nokia has reported its Q4 2013 fiscal earnings, posting a $270 million loss and conceding that smartphone and feature phone sales dipped in the last quarter.
