Oppo N1 will have a Snapdragon 800 to go with its swappable camera system (Update: not the N1)

Oppo N1 flashes its Snapdragon 800 as exec leaks logic board pic

Oppo’s N1 smartphone has been sitting on our watch list ever since we first got wind of its strange N-Lens camera add-ons, which will apparently offer a choice of zooms up to 15x. Now we can flesh out another key spec: the Chinese handset will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor, which should more than cope with its equally unusual dual touch inputs and possibly help it to rival other imaging-centric Androids like the Galaxy S4 Zoom and Sony’s upcoming Honami. The HSPA+ Snapdragon processor (MSM8274) was shown on a photo of the N1’s internals that was “leaked” by an Oppo marketing staffer on Sina Weibo — and unless we’re horribly, horribly mistaken, the photo also seems to show a microSD slot to store all those optically stabilized, 16-megapixel images. Barring other significant pseudo-leaks, you can expect the next big N1 update on September 23rd.

Update: Oops! Oppo just reached out to us to say that the N1 doesn’t actually use the Snapdragon 800. Looking back at the original Sina Weibo post, the leakster only said “large screen, flagship” and not “N1,” so perhaps this is actually the rumoured Find 7 instead?

Oppo teases plug-in mobile camera lenses with stabilization and up to 15X zoom

Oppo teases mobile addon camera with stabilization, up to 15X zoom

The extent of Oppo’s mobile photography efforts is quickly becoming clear: the company just used Sina Weibo to tease a new series of plug-in camera lenses for its smartphones. The initial range will use 16-megapixel Sony CMOS sensors with optical image stabilization, and they will also have a degree of support for NFC, SD cards and WiFi. Buyers will only have to choose between a thin lens with 10X zoom and a thicker, 15X variant. While Oppo isn’t yet ready to disclose launch details for the add-ons, we won’t be surprised if we hear more about them at the company’s N1 smartphone event on September 23rd.

Oppo N1 Launches On September 23rd

Oppo N1 Launches On September 23rd

A few weeks ago we picked up on rumors that Oppo, a mobile phone manufacturer based in China, was launching a new “N-lens” smartphone that would give the likes of HTC One and Lumia 1020 a run for their money. It was rumored that this Oppo smartphone would challenge the camera quality of both of these devices. We’ve come to know since then that this smartphone is going to be called Oppo N1 and that it will be released next month. Today Oppo has confirmed that the N1 launch takes place on September 23rd.

The leaked specs of Oppo N1 suggest that it will have a 5.5 inch full 1080p HD display. Under the hood it is expected to have a NVIDIA Tegra 4 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The Oppo N1 is also said to have buttons on the back, much like the LG G2. For pricing and availability information we’ll have to wait until next month. It remains to be seen if this smartphone will be offered outside of China. Usually Chinese manufacturers don’t release their smartphones outside of some major Asian markets. Will the Oppo N1 meet the same fate? We’ll find that out for sure at the event on September 23rd. [Image via GSMInsider]

Oppo N1 Rear Touch Panel Confirmed

Oppo N1 Rear Touch Panel ConfirmedChinese manufacturer Oppo is said to be working on a new smartphone which is called the Oppo N1, and while there were initial whispers of a rear touch panel making its way to the handset, here we are with further confirmation. This particular touch panel that will be located on the upcoming flagship Oppo N1’s back does remind us of the volume keys that have been evicted from the sides and sent right to the bottom of the LG G2 where a major makeover is concerned, and Oppo themselves have already posted up an image to illustrate the position of the touch panel – where it would placed in the upper part of the back cover, which would mean it is right below the camera of the Oppo N1.

What do you think that Oppo will call this particular technology? We do know that China will be on the receiving end of a rather massive marketing campaign in order to promote the upcoming Oppo N1, including teasing it with images of an exposed back of a woman (that ought to draw more than its fair share of attention) as well as a toilet paper roll. Provocative at times, weird during others, it remains to be seen whether the high expectations surrounding the Oppo N1 will be able to be justified or not.

Oppo reveals more about N1’s backside touch as pics leak out

    Image

Buttons and trackpads on the back of mobile devices? It’s becoming a trend. Oppo has revealed that users will be able to scroll, double click and long press with the backside touch feature of the forthcoming Oppo N1. Apparently it’ll be possible to swipe through pages (or change songs), activate and control the camera or bind the actions to other apps as you see fit. At the same time, the N1’s chassis has been snapped in this rather beautifully composed rumorgram shot, so you can see exactly what you’ll be reaching around when this unit gets an official announcement in September.

Oppo teases N1 smartphone launch in September, promises backside touch

Oppo teases N1 smartphone with September launch, backside touch

Oppo may have already confirmed the existence of its N-Lens series devices, but it’s offering us a few more details through official teasers for the line’s inaugural smartphone, the N1. While the posts show little of the handset in question, they point to both a September launch and backside touch input. It’s also clear that the N1 is important to Oppo — a timeline (pictured after the break) positions the phone as a spiritual successor to last year’s Find 5 flagship. With the unveiling just weeks away, we won’t have to wait long to get the full story.

    Oppo N1 Gets September Launch

Oppo N1 Gets September LaunchIt was just earlier this morning when we talked about the Oppo R819 that claimed to be the “thinnest and lightest smartphone” in the world, and this time around we have word that the Oppo N1, yet another handset from the Chinese manufacturer, is all set to be launched next month. This particular device does seem to shape up to be part of the Oppo N-Lens Series which was leaked some weeks ago, where it is deemed to throw down with the likes of the Nokia Lumia 1020 and HTC One when it comes to camera quality. The Oppo N1 will be the 2013 flagship model and it will definitely ship with the Oppo N-Lens which will deliver additional features to the smartphone’s camera so that it can have a shot at being the best in the field in that particular department.

The Oppo N1 will be powered by the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, where the display will be Full HD to be on par with the best out there, apart from a very real possibility of a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor running proceedings from underneath the hood. Do you think that this bad boy will be able to carve a name for itself in the highly competitive high end smartphone market?

    OPPO R819 Measures A Mere 7.33mm Thin

OPPO R819 Measures A Mere 7.33mm ThinRecords are meant to be broken – do you believe that particular mantra? If you have answered in the affirmative, then you would be more than pleased to read about the latest smartphone from lesser known smartphone manufacturer OPPO, who has just rolled out the OPPO R819 – where it has been touted by OPPO themselves to be one of the “thinnest and lightest smartphones in the world.” That is a pretty huge claim to live up to, where it tips the scales at a mere 110 grams, all the while packing in a sharp display, long-lasting battery life, and a wide aperture camera, all of it crammed into an extremely svelte 7.3mm frame.

The OPPO R819 will boast of a 4.7” IPS display with OGS technology, delivering amazing viewing angles as well as more than enough space for content. It will come encased in a slim frame of subtle curves and stylish metallic accents, where it is a snap to hold and tote around thanks to the ergonomics of the R819. Not only that, other hardware specifications include Wi-Fi and DLNA connectivity, dual SIM card support, an f/2.0 aperture 8-megapixel Sony Exmor BSI back facing camera, a front-facing camera with an 88 degree viewing angle, and a choice between the original Android ROM or OPPO’s Color ROM. The 16GB of internal memory and 1GB RAM rounds off the list of features, while pricing and availability details remain to be seen.

Oppo R819 arrives with 4.7-inch display, 8MP camera, Jelly Bean

You may not be too familiar with Oppo, and they may not be as popular as some of the big guns like Samsung or HTC, but they’re definitely putting up a fight against the big guys, as the Chinese phone maker announced the R819, which comes with a 4.7-inch 720p display, an 8-megapixel camera on […]
