Call of Duty: Ghosts Prestige Edition will include a 1080p action camera

Call of Duty Ghosts Prestige Edition will include 1080p tactical cam

Activision and Infinity Ward have bundled expensive gadgets with the last few Call of Duty special editions, and they’re keeping up this recent tradition with Call of Duty: Ghosts. Buy the Prestige Edition of the game on November 5th and you’ll get a 1080p, water-resistant “tactical camera” with a 4GB memory card. While it’s not clear which company makes the wearable cam, Activision claimed during its Ghosts multiplayer unveiling that the device should hold up against counterparts sold in stores. The Prestige Edition is appropriately expensive at $199, although you’re getting a lot for your money — besides the camera and game, the box also includes a carrying case, a Season Pass for downloads and a paracord strap. If you’ve ever wished you could record your adventures beyond your game console, this is certainly the bundle for you.

PS3 gets pay-per-view streaming with Live Events Viewer app

DNP Watch pay per view events on your PS3 with the Live Event Viewer app

PlayStation is expanding its streaming footprint one piledriver at a time with the new Live Events Viewer. Announced at E3 and available today, the app will let you buy and watch pay-per-view events — starting with this Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam — directly from your PS3 without the need for a cable subscription. Sony is promising that new programming will be available on a weekly basis and that there will be free content in addition to PPVs, too. All that’s available right now are UFC and WWE specials, but according to the US PlayStation Blog, concerts, races and “other entertainment events” are en route. You could also get your scripted and unscripted fisticuffs fix on the Xbox 360, but you need an active Xbox Live Gold subscription to use them.

Sony PS3 12GB Model Could Arrive Stateside

Sony PS3 12GB Model Could Arrive StatesideIt was in September last year when we first heard of Sony rolling out a PS3 model that carried a far more affordable price tag, as the internals have been changed, sporting 12GB of flash memory instead of a massive hard drive. That particular model was marketed exclusively in Europe and Hong Kong only, and there were no indications of it arriving in the US. Of course, that omission was no big deal, really, since 12GB of storage space is not going to do much for folks who happen to have spent the past few years building a relatively large games library.

It seems that Sony thinks the US is now ready for the Sony PS3 12GB model, despite what Sony Computer Entertainment America VP of marketing, handhelds and home consoles, John Koller, shared last time, “The smaller Flash drive isn’t coming to North America, and a lot of that reason is the digital consumer. We really want to make sure, out of the box, that there is an option for them to be able to download that content. That is really critical for us, very very important.” What you see above is a leaked image of an alleged 12GB PlayStation 3 found in a Kmart stockroom Stateside, with a “do not sell until” date that points to August 18th.

Angry Birds Star Wars coming to most game consoles on October 29th (video)

Angry Birds Star Wars coming to most consoles on October 29th

Angry Birds Star Wars has invaded virtually every major mobile and desktop platform; as of October 29th, it will have a footprint on nearly every modern game console, too. The sci-fi bird flinging title will ship to the US that day for the 3DS, Wii, Wii U, PS3, PS Vita and Xbox 360, with international customers getting their turn on November 1st. Regardless of the platform, there’s a few rewards for patient gamers — the console editions will carry a raft of competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, as well as 20 exclusive levels. We’re slightly surprised that there aren’t PS4 and Xbox One ports just to complete the picture, but the launch is still good news for those who’d rather play ABSW on the big screen than give its sequel a try.
