Galaxy Note III Rumored To Have 8-Core CPU And GPU

Galaxy Note III Rumored To Have 8 Core CPU And GPU

Since last week rumors of the Samsung Galaxy Note III have been coming in. It is said to be the first Samsung Galaxy device which will ship with a plastic OLED display. Today some additional speculation has come up regarding this very device. It is claimed that Note III will become Samsung’s most wanted device as it’ll tout impressive performance, a 5.99 inch Super AMOLED Full HD display (1080p), a 13 megapixel camera and the latest version of Android topped with TouchWiz (Samsung’s “skin” for Android and other platforms).

Today’s rumor is specifically about the hardware package of this device. If the details are indeed true, the Galaxy Note III would pack some serious power under the hood. Samsung’s Exynos 5 octacore processor with 3GB RAM and Mali 450 octacore graphics processor (GPU) has been rumored for the Galaxy Note III (note that the definition of GPU “cores” vary greatly depending on the vendor). Details on the build quality are a bit vague right now as Samsung is reportedly wondering whether or not flexible OLED displays will be ready around the time this device is supposed to be released — most likely, the phone won’t be flexible. The size is expected to be similar to Galaxy Mega 5.8 (read our hands on with the 6.3″ version of the Galaxy Mega) and it is expected that the design might be similar to the Galaxy S4. Despite the fact that these details would make Galaxy Note III out to be a phenomenal device in terms of performance, since all of this is based on rumors, its better not to get ahead of ourselves at this point in time.

Sony “Honami” 20MP flagship Xperia leaks

Sony is working on another smartphone that looks to pack some serious camera technology. Codenamed “Honami,” the new phone is said to pack in a Sony-built 1/1.6″ Exmor RS stacked 20MP sensor with a Cybershot G glass lens. Essentially, the sensor will be larger than any of its competitors, except for the Nokia 808 Pureview.

Overall, the phone is said to be a massive improvement over the Xperia Z, which we have still yet to see in the US. Honami will come packing with a lot of the same features in many of Sony’s Cybershot cameras, so we’re guessing one of the main focal points of the new phone will be its 20MP camera, and it’s easy to see why.

However, as for internal specs, we’re looking at some powerful hardware on board. It’s rumored to be packing a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, with the standard 2GB of RAM, as well as a huge 2700mAh battery. The device is also said to be surfaced with a 5-inch 1080p display to compete with the Samsung GALAXY S 4 and HTC One.

As for further features of the camera component on Honami, it’s said to come with an completely new image-processing algorithm, as well as a redesigned camera UI, which will be based off of Sony’s Cybershot line. As for the LED flash on the Honami, it’s said to be ten times brighter than a typical LED flash on a today’s smartphones.

iOS 7 Could See Major Changes Made To Mail And Calendar Apps [Rumor]

iOS 7 Could See Major Changes Made To Mail And Calendar Apps [Rumor]

Longer screen, better contrast, but the color hue is yellow-ish on my unit.

We’ve been hearing a fair bit about iOS 7 these days, with the rumors suggesting an overhaul of the operating system, at least as far as its user interface is concerned. Previously the reports have come from 9to5 Mac, but now it looks like they are being backed up by the folks at Bloomberg who are suggesting that iOS 7 will be getting an overhaul, although they also claim that the release of the operating system could be delayed due to the significant changes that are being made. Microsoft Registers Xbox Fusion Domain Names, Possible Name For Next-Gen Xbox?

Microsoft Registers Xbox Fusion Domain Names, Possible Name For Next Gen Xbox?We know that come 21st of May, there is a good chance that Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox will be unveiled. At the moment many people are referring to the console as the Xbox 720 which seems like a logical progression from the Xbox 360, although it was not too long ago that speculation pointed towards the next-gen Xbox being called the Xbox Infinity. While that may or may not a possibility, it seems that Microsoft has registered a couple of new domains recently (spotted by Fusible) with the name “Xbox Fusion”, giving rise to the speculation that the console might be called the Xbox Fusion instead.

Of course this Fusion name could be related to anything, it could be the name for a new service Microsoft plans to debut with the next-gen Xbox, although one domain investor seems to be pretty certain that this could be the name of the next-gen Xbox. Either way take what you will from this, but what do you guys think of the Xbox Fusion name? Or do you prefer the previous suggestions such as Xbox Infinity or Xbox 720?

ASUS MeMo Pad To Be Updated? [Rumor]

ASUS MeMo Pad To Be Updated? [Rumor]ASUS’ MeMo Pad was recently updated to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but could that be all the updates that ASUS has in mind? According to the folks at TechBlog.gr, they have learnt that ASUS could be interested in upgrading the MeMo Pad, which could also be known as the MeMo Pad Smart 10 (ME302KL), and basically turn it into a cheaper version of the Transformer Pad Infinity, just minus the keyboard dock.

Based on intel that TechBlog.gr have managed to obtain, some of the specs of this alleged updated MeMo Pad includes a 10.1” Full HD 1920×1080 display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno 320 GPU, 1GB of RAM, optional 4G LTE connectivity option, a 13MP camera, a front 1.2MP camera, 16GB of internal storage with the option to expand via microSD, and a 5,050mAh battery. They were unable to ascertain as to which version of Android it will be running on, but it is probably a safe bet to say it will be one of the Jelly Bean versions, Android 4.1 at the very least.

No word on when ASUS will be debuting this updated MeMo Pad, but take it with a grain of salt for now and check back with us at a later date for the details if there are any to be had.

iOS 7 Could Feature Deeper Integration In Vehicles With Apple Maps [Rumor]

iOS 7 Could Feature Deeper Integration In Vehicles With Apple Maps [Rumor]Yesterday we reported that a couple of details about iOS 7 were leaked ahead of its possible announcement at WWDC 2013. Basically those details involved the user interface of the software, and today the folks at 9to5 Mac have managed to get more information about the upcoming update, and unsurprisingly it seems that according to their sources, iOS 7 is expected to offer more integration with vehicles through the use of Siri. We said that this is unsurprising because Siri has already seen some integration with vehicles through the Eyes Free feature.

However what’s more interesting is that the integration is expected to go beyond Siri and could even see integration with Apple Maps on the dashboard of cars! Considering that Apple Maps was thought of as highly inaccurate during its launch, we’re seriously hoping that Apple has managed to get their stuff together if they hope that Apple Maps integration in vehicles is to be met with enthusiasm instead of groans. In any case take this with a grain of salt for now, but with WWDC coming up in the next month, we expect more details to be revealed then. In the meantime what do you guys think? Anyone interested in seeing Apple Maps integration in their vehicles?

Sony Allegedly Has A Quadcore Smartphone With 20 Megapixel Camera In The Works

Sony Allegedly Has A Quadcore Smartphone With 20 Megapixel Camera In The Works

Rumor has it that Sony is working on two smartphones which it is expected to release some time this year. Back at the Mobile World Congress in February, the company was expected to announce a 6.44 inch full HD display “phablet” which carried the codename Togari, but we haven’t heard much about that device since then. Rumor has it that as part of its “One Sony” branding campaign, the company will be releasing a smartphone that features Sony’s top technologies. The announcement is expected at IFA Trade Show, which takes place in September.

This device reportedly carries the Honami codename and touts a 5 inch dull HD display. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, which is a 2.3Ghz quadcore processor that enters mass production in May, will power this device with at least 2GB of RAM. The device itself is said to be dust and water resistant, much like Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z, and is said to have a non-removable battery that ranges between 2,700 and 3,000 mAh. One of the major features of this smartphone is said to be its camera, a 20 megapixel shooter on the back with a Cybershot CMOS sensor and Carl Zeiss lens.

Nokia Reportedly Interested In Lytro-type Camera For Future Smartphones

Nokia Reportedly Interested In Lytro type Camera For Future SmartphonesFor those who have not heard about the Lytro camera, it’s basically a camera that allows users to shoot their photos first, and choose which points to focus later on. It is pretty handy as it allows photographers to capture the moment without having to worry about having the correct focus. Interestingly a report on Bloomberg has suggested that Nokia could be interested in a similar technology and could be looking to invest in a Californian startup company which creates Lytro-style camera technology which could be slim enough to fit into mobile phones.

Considering that Nokia has been known in the past to create phones where the emphasis has been placed on the camera, the idea of Nokia pursuing such technology would not be a stretch of the imagination. The company in question is called Pelican Imaging which produces a sensor array similar to the Lytro in which the focal point in a photo can be applied after the photo has been taken. What makes it “better” is the fact that through its technology and algorithmic processing, it can do away with the extra lens required by Lytro’s field technique, ultimately allowing it to be squeezed into a mobile phone.

While this is an interesting feature, we’re not sure if it would make or break a consumer’s decision to purchase a phone, although it would probably end up appealing to photography enthusiasts who want the best camera they can get out of their phone.

iOS 7 Allegedly Gets Detailed Ahead Of WWDC

iOS 7 Allegedly Gets Detailed Ahead Of WWDCWith WWDC coming soon, we guess there are some things which we can more or less assume will be announced, namely Apple’s next major update to their iOS operating system iOS 7. iOS 7 is probably the most highly anticipated iOS update especially since Apple’s industrial designer, Jony Ive, will be the one at the helm of the team since he took over Scott Forstall’s place back in 2012. We’ve been hearing rumors about iOS 7 and thanks to the folks at 9to5 Mac, they have managed to obtain some intel about some of the changes that will be made to the operating system. (more…)

iPhone Rumored To Be Arriving On Boost Mobile’s Network

iPhone Rumored To Be Arriving On Boost Mobiles NetworkOne of the drawbacks to prepaid carriers is that their phone offerings usually leave something to be desired. Well the good news is that if you were planning on switching to a prepaid carrier, such as Boost Mobile which is powered by Sprint’s network, you might be interested to learn that apparently the carrier could be adding Apple’s iPhone to their lineup come Q3. This intel is courtesy of the folks @evleaks who have been pretty accurate in their leaks and speculations in the past, so it could be true for all we know. There is no word on which iPhone will be making its way onto Boost Mobile – could it be the iPhone 5, or maybe the iPhone 4S which will be more affordable, or maybe even the rumored iPhone 5S. In any case take this with a grain of salt for now, but for subscribers of Boost Mobile’s network, we guess this could be something to look forward to.
