Canon 75MP DSLR reportedly in testing phases

Canon hasn’t been at the center of rumors lately, but it’s said that the company is working on an extremely impressive camera that’s almost too good to be true. Canon is reportedly testing a new DSLR with a pro-sized body similar to that of the 1D X, but what’s most impressive is that the camera boasts a 75MP sensor.

According to Photography Bay, sources are saying that testing of the new camera is underway right now, and while the camera will be similar to the 1D X, this unnamed DSLR will have a higher frame rate than the 1D X, and it’s rear display will be “shockingly high resolution”.

It’s also said that the camera may be announced later this year, with a 2014 release time window planned. However, it’s important to note that just because Canon is testing a camera, doesn’t mean that it’ll actually make it to the market, but we have no reason to believe that Canon wouldn’t release an extremely-high megapixel camera at some point.

Of course, we’ve heard rumblings in the past about the Canon EOS 1S, which is said to pack a 47MP sensor, so we’re guessing that Canon’s next-generation camera will most likely be just that. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if a 75MP camera eventually was released at some point in the future.

Megapixels aren’t everything, though, as we’ve seen with smartphone cameras, but a 75MP sensor would make for some high-resolution shots. We’re taking this rumor with a grain of salt, but also with a sense that one day we’ll see a camera with that kind of performance hit the market at some point.

Apple iPad 13-inch model tipped for testing alongside larger iPhones

While Apple most-recently went smaller with the iPad, moving down to a 7.9-inch display with the iPad mini, but it seems Apple will be moving in the opposite direction if a recent report is to be believed. It’s said that Apple is testing out 13-inch iPad prototypes, as well as larger displays on iPhones that exceed the current 4 inches.

According to the Wall Street Journal, sources from suppliers in Asia say that Apple has asked for prototypes of screens larger than 4 inches for the iPhone, as well as ramblings of the company wanting to experiment with larger iPads that are around 13 inches in size. This means we could see a third iPad model, offering the Goldilocks effect to potential iPad buyers.

Of course, experimenting with different sizes of displays doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see a larger iPad come into fruition. Apple is known to experiment quite a bit with potential products, but seeing as how larger screens are becoming popular than ever, it would make sense that the Cupertino-based company is looking to get in on that market.

The report on the larger iPhone displays goes right along with rumors last month of low-cost, plastic iPhone models with up to 5.7-inch screens. These are said to be budget-friendly devices that would get even more iPhones in the hands of consumers, since Android has a huge hold on the lower-cost device market currently.

Of course, Apple increased the size of the iPhone’s screen to 4 inches with the introduction of the iPhone 5. That marked the first time that the iPhone has gotten a screen size change, with all past models having 3.5-inch screens. The company has said that the screen size would never get any larger, but it seems that they’re buckling under peer pressure.

Nexus 7 2 Best Buy ad affirms full HD display

We might have already heard quite a few ramblings of the next-generation Nexus 7, but nothing is quite as solid as a leaked retail store circular ad. A leaked Best Buy ad shows off the next-generation Nexus 7, revealing not only its $229 price tag, but also the 1920×1200 full HD display gracing the front of the tablet.

The ad also notes that the $229 price tag will get you 16GB of storage, meaning that the 32GB version will cost just a little bit more, possibly in the $249 or $279 range. Sadly, Best Buy is always pretty vague about advertising products in their weekly ads, so we don’t get treated with any more details than those little tidbits.

However, the Best Buy circular mentions that the tablet will be “available Tuesday.” Seeing as how Google is holding an event on Wednesday this week, the ad could be referring to July 30 as the official launch date of the refreshed Google slate. However, the distribution date for the leaked circular isn’t known, so whatever date “Tuesday” is, is still unknown, but it’s said the circular will begin running on July 28, so we have no reason to not think that the new Nexus 7 will be arriving on July 30.

The refreshed Nexus 7 is also said to be getting an update to Android 4.3, and will come with dual cameras, as well as wireless charging, which we’ve already seen on Google’s latest Nexus 4 handset. The tablet is also said to be sporting a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM paired up. Exact specs aren’t known, obviously, but it seems this new Nexus 7 refresh will be a big one, while keeping the same 7-inch screen and mostly the same body style.

Rumor: Canon Is Testing a 75-Megapixel Pro DSLR

As camera rumors go, this one’s pretty insane: Photography Bay is claiming that a reliable source has told it that Canon is testing "a pro-sized body like the 1D X" which packs a sensor with over 75 megapixels. Which: wow.
