DJ Hero’s turntable, crossfader peripheral spotted in E3 preview

Admit it, you weren’t satisfied by those initial concept images of DJ Hero’s button-laden turntable. Yeah, us neither, but thanks to a screengrab reportedly from a television promo for Spike / GameTrailer’s E3 2009 coverage, we’ve now got a brief glimpse of what Activision’s peripheral looks like in physical form. In addition to getting somewhat of an idea of its size, we’ve also got the first peak at the crossfader attachment. No clue on if that means we’ll be needing a second turntable, but with any luck we’ll get to find out for ourselves early next month.

Video: GP2X emulation goes down on T-Mobile G1

We never really pegged the HTC-sourced T-Mobile G1 as a hardcore gaming handheld, but obviously it handles the stresses of Ghosts ‘N Goblins and Samurai Showdown admirably. Have a peek at a “pre-alpha” demonstration video just past the break, and feel free to let your hopes and expectations reach new heights.

Microsoft is desperate for gamers to adopt Windows SideShow

Microsoft really, really wants to convince you that in the high stakes world of multiple displays, SideShow is the only way to go. To that end, the company has put together a little white paper meant to sell us on the idea of using their product to for extra screen real estate as you flail about Azeroth (or whatever it is that you do in your free time). And it’s not like we need to be sold on the concept — we love our Mimo as much as the next guy or gal — but as wary as companies have been of this technology, we’re guessing that it’ll take more than some fancy Photoshoppin’ to get hardware vendors on board. But who knows? Hit the read link to discover all of Microsoft’s thoughts on the subject.

Is Microsoft’s ZuneX Really Their Portable Xbox Phone?

These leaked photos of the ZuneX (ZX-1000) may or may not be Microsoft’s handheld device that combines the Zune with the Xbox. But we do have specs. And it may be a phone.

Mimbee.tv’s got a grainy shot from a conference that may or may not be real, a shot of a guy holding a ZuneX in his hand that looks more photoshopped than not, and a list of specs:

• 4-inch display at 640×363 resolution
• Custom Intel LV Atom DualCore 733MHz processor
• Custom Nvidia BLowFish chipset
• 128MB RAM
• 40 hour music, 14 hours of video, 9 hours of gaming and 6 hours of gaming with the wireless on
• 4 analog buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, an analog stick attachment
• 32GB flash storage
• Support for Bluetooth headphones
SIM Card tray (it’s a phone! Maybe!)
• Xbox Live Arcade Games
• ZuneX Originals
• OnLive Ready game streaming (now we’re just getting a little ridiculous)
• WMV, H.264, MPEG-4 and DivX support

It’s still solidly in rumor territory and will probably stay that way until at least E3. If we had to judge from the specs, it’s slightly too good to be true. As if someone NOT working at Microsoft wrote up their dream specs for a handheld. [Mimbee via Lusogamer via TeamXbox]

Update: BenM sends in this image that says it’s a fake.

Is this the Alienware ‘Allpowerful’ laptop?

Menacing huh? The slightly enhanced image above was uploaded to the NotebookReview forums by a jockey claiming to be from Alienware marketing in Costa Rica. The tease upon tease shows what could be the Allpowerful laptop already counting down for product launch in 15 days. Further image manipulation reveals the typical offset-left trackpad found in Alienware’s current gaming rig lineup. One thing’s for certain, with a name like “Allpowerful,” we’d better be looking at a 17-inch screen (minimum) and heavy-hitting Core i7 or we’re setting phasers to kill. Pew pew. Fully enhanced image with added fanart by forum member Quicklite after the break.

[Thanks, Sneaky]

CyberNotes: $125,000 Xbox 360 Chopper

This article was written on August 14, 2006 by CyberNet.

CyberNotes
Million Dollar Monday

If you’re an Xbox enthusiast and a chopper fan, you’d probably have a hard time keeping your hands off of a custom built Xbox 360 Chopper worth $125,000. Should I mention that you could have had a chance at winning the lime-green bike? Gamestop Corp. together with Game Informer, a monthly magazine actually had a ”Sign Up and Ride” sweepstakes, and this was the grand prize.Unfortunately the contest is over so there’s no chance of getting it for yourself now. The majority of us wouldn’t even think twice about spending that kind of money on a chopper–  a small one for that matter. Regardless, it’s still a pretty cool toy (which by the way now has a home with a proud owner in Illinois) worth mentioning.

Xbox Chopper

So, about the bike; it was built by Martin Bros Bikes who are known for their custom designs. As you can tell, the whole design of the bike was influenced by Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Some have joked wondering if the bike would overheat much like the actual 360 console. Apparently mistakes like that aren’t quickly forgotten. Microsoft is trying to be sure the Xbox 360 isn’t forgotten with the PlayStation 3 release not too far away.

If you’re bummed that you missed out on the chance to win the chopper, I scrounged up another contest for you. If you’ve got a Pappa John’ s Pizza close by, you can get a free Large original crust one-topping pizza with the purchase of an Extra-Large Specialty Pizza at the regular menu price . Okay, so it’s not as great as the $125,000 chopper but you get a free pizza :) If you’re interested in other promotions that Xbox has going on, they have a whole webpage dedicated specifically for that. And of course we have our own contest going on. Don’t forget to tell us about your craziest voicemail and you could win a 2GB iPod Nano! There’s only one week left to enter.

DIY semi-funtional keyboard pants destined for the geek catwalk

Did you ever spot a really boss concept and think, “Hey! I could totally cobble this into reality”? No? Well, Zach did. He saw a concept pair of pants with a functioning keyboard, and proceeded to make his very own. Essentially, he chopped a keyboard in half, then used a laser cutter and some good old fashioned sewing to get the keys into the trousers. Because the board had been cut in half, only the left side of it still functions, but, as you’ll see from the video after the break, that’s good enough for a game of Tetris. Hit the read link for more detailed instructions if you want to make your own.

Sony Ericsson president: PlayStation phone “could happen”

Well, this is certainly one rumor that just won’t die — nor is it likely to, not as long as the company has its hands in both manufacturing handsets and game consoles. According to an article in the Financial Times, Sony Ericsson president Hideki “Handsome Dick” Komiyama discusses his struggle to reposition the company as one the world’s top three phone makers. Among bright ideas and desperate measures mulled over, the man in charge lets slip that no plan is too crazy or far-fetched to consider. Even a PlayStation-branded phone? “Could happen,” he is quoted as saying. And there you have it! Begin warrantless speculation: now.
