ASUS shows off Congo-based Eee PC 1201T netbook

ASUS’ Eee PC 1201HA just went on sale here in the States earlier today, but already it seems that the debatable father of netbooks is looking to one-up its own with the 1201T. Shown off recently at an event overseas, this 12.1-inch netbook gets powered by AMD’s Congo platform. The 1.6GHz MV40 CPU was at the helm, followed along by 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 6-cell battery and an enclosure that looks pretty much like every other Eee PC announced within the past six months. Mum’s the word on price and availability, but we’re guessing both of those will clear themselves up in short order.

Update: The Eee PC 1201T doesn’t have the ION chipset. Those responsible have been responsibly sacked.

MSI Wind U230 gets handled on video, SIM slot found hiding underneath

MSI’s latest (and arguably greatest) 12.1-inch netbook just popped official earlier this month, and already it’s making the rounds at various shows. The crew over at NetbookNews managed to get their hands around one for just under three minutes, and during that brief window of time they were able to confirm that an AMD Athlon Neo X2 chip was within. Also on tap was a 500GB hard drive and a previously unannounced SIM card slot, though the €440 ($661) price tag seems a bit steep for “a netbook.” Check the walk-around just after the break.

LG’s Monaco (IQ) spotted in Telus garb, rocking WinMo 6.5 and Snapdragon

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve heard anything about LG’s Monaco, but now it seems as if the wait for this to transition from presentation slide to reality is almost over. Unfortunately, Windows Mobile 7 won’t be onboard as previously rumored, but prospective Telus customers can look forward to LG’s S-Class interface sprucing things up somewhat. Other specs purportedly include a Snapdragon processor, WVGA display, 5 megapixel camera and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, though nitty-gritty details beyond that are nil. Peep that read link if you’re lusting for a few more angles, and don’t kid yourself — you are.

Pegatron’s Ubuntu-equipped netbook spotted in the wild

It’s been a hot, hot minute since we’ve seen anything noteworthy from the lads and ladies over at Pegatron, so it’s not shocking that we’re super tantalized by the prospect of yet another netbook flooding the oversaturated market in the near term. All unnecessary snideness aside, the sub-$200 price point that’s being floated about definitely has us interested, though the Ubuntu operating system is likely to fend off any non-adventurous would-be buyers. The machine was spotted at ARM’s Connected Community Technical Symposium 2009 over in Taiwan, and while the actual internals remain a mystery, snoopers were told that it’ll boast instant-on capabilities and a low power draw. Huzzah?

Palm Pixi arrives early for the people of Walmart

Brush back that mullet and adjust your ill-fitting halter tops folks ’cause Palm’s newest webOS device has been spotted at Walmart. This pair of Pixi lovelies was ogled overnight inside one of Sam Walton’s finest Tennessee locations reportedly sporting a $400 price tag and little else — it wasn’t in Walmart’s system so it wasn’t yet available for purchase. Something that should be rectified in time for Sunday’s official launch with Sprint ($100 on contract) if not sooner.

Is this a next generation ThinkPad, or the cruelest Photoshop ThinkPad fans have ever witnessed?

So, before we get ourselves in a tizzy, we’ll caveat that there are some seeming signs of Photoshoppery here, namely the edge around the keyboard and of course the pure insanity of putting chiclet keys and a white skin on a ThinkPad (Cloned In China thinks it might be an outright KIRF). That said, there’s something about the laptop that smacks of ultraportability and simplicity which we’re not entirely averse to. And for the purists there’s still that nipple and the third mouse button to be smug about, which is something for them to think about while the burn down the Engadget HQ in a rage for us even suggesting this could be a good direction. Check out another shot after the break, and shots of another even odder design at the read link.

250GB PS3 spotted in Best Buy backroom, making trouble

It’s not quite as delicious when Sony (in a rare move) has actually confirmed its console for a release to market, but just because we know the 250GB PS3 is landing in the US on November 3rd doesn’t mean we can’t derive any enjoyment at all by the fact that it’s been spotted at a Best Buy in Houston, all primed for the shelves. Since the shipment’s obviously already been made, we suppose we’ll be seeing a few instances of early stocking of the console over the next couple of days, unless Best Buy has considerably cleaned up its act when it comes to launch dates — doubtful!

[Thanks, anonymous ]

Toshiba’s BDX2000 Blu-ray deck hits Best Buy for $199, sour grapes also on sale

Man, poor Toshiba. The company’s already sucked up its pride and started putting Blu-ray drives in its laptops, but here’s its first stab at a proper standalone player, the BDX2000, on Best Buy shelves a bit early for $199 — or $50 less than its announced price. Sure, that makes sense given the falling prices of Blu-ray decks as the holidays approach, but even at that price it’s not super competitive with the slew of other decks out there that can do Netflix streaming. We’ll see if Tosh’s next efforts are a little more interesting than this, or if this is just more heartbreak than its worth.

[Thanks, Alex]

Dell’s Adamo ‘crazyhinge’ XPS demonstrated on video

So, Dell finally revealed just exactly what was going on with its ultrathin Adamo XPS — to an extent, anyway — but there’s always room for a little more detail, and that’s where the folks at Zive Computer come in. This lovingly filmed video of theirs shows off all the physical intricacies of the XPS, the hinge in action from multiple angles, and even a bit of pretend typing on that odd-looking keyboard. Sure, we’re still in the dark on plenty of specs, but we’ve already gathered enough on this thing to make it clear it’s unlike anything else on the market. Hit up the read link for the video.

Nokia’s 5230 inches closer to release, gets spied along the way

Nokia’s 5230 isn’t apt to blow any minds with the likes of the HD2, Droid and XPERIA X3 on the horizon, but for those perfectly content with a touchscreen-based Symbian S60 5th Edition handset, this one sure looks purty. After dipping its toes in the FCC’s expansive database just last month, a crop of new in the wild shots have surfaced to show off its 3.2-inch display (640 x 360), 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR module and variety of colorful backs. Hit the read link for more pixels if you’re so inclined, and feel free to take the “January 2010” release date in with a dose of NaCl.

[Thanks, Daniel]
