Sure, you probably waited longer than you should have to get the elusive white iPhone 4. But, you know what’s better than a boring regular model? One with diamonds, crystals and pearls… of course! Known for its ridiculous custom mobile devices, Gresso may force you to refinance your house and hock a kidney to afford its latest creation, the Lady Blanche. A solid diamond-coated mineral glass backing, three independent Swiss clocks and pearl dials replace the usual body on this iced-out iPhone. If the $30k diamond model is a bit out of your price range, the much more affordable Swarovski crystal version will only set you back 7,000 bones. Release details are unclear at this point, but when they drop you better act fast — only 150 of these gems will be available. Heck, if you have that kind of cash lying around, just get the salesman to throw in one of these for your iPad, too.

Apple intros App Store volume purchasing, businesses enthused

Got iOS devices deployed across your enterprise? Listen up. Apple’s just announced the Volume Purchase Program, enabling businesses to procure applications from the US App Store en-masse. Upon registering with Cupertino, corporate overlords can then access a web-form to acquire and sling apps to their plebeian employees at will. And for those needing custom corporate-only software? It looks like bespoke B2B applications — even ones built by third parties — will soon be distributed via the same mechanism. We’re not orchard owners, but them Apples are looking mighty tasty, and it’s past BlackBerry season, right?

Surc combination iPhone 4 case and IR remote now shipping for $75

Mashed Pixel’s Surc iPhone 4 case is finally ready take on the challenge of making Apple’s slab a universal remote now that it’s on sale for a mere $74.95. That’s pricier than the RedEye Mini Dongle but cheaper than the Peel receiver, and it does pull double duty as a protector. The built in MicroUSB hookup and included cable means it can stay on even while charging before jumping into action when the companion app is opened on the phone. It can be controlled via buttons, gestures or motion control, with plenty of programmability built in. The only downside we can find is that this is definitely a goner whenever you upgrade to Steve’s next iThing, and it means leaving the sweet, potentially reception-improving case you already picked out behind.

Spotify US premium service hands-on

Like The Beach Boys’ Smile and Duke Nukem Forever before it, the US version of Spotify has been elevated to a sort of mythological status by collective anticipation. Music nerds and tech geeks all over this fine nation of ours have waited with bated breath for the service to work out all of its licensing kinks and finally make its way to our shores. In an interview earlier this week, a Spotify higher-up promised us that the service will be pretty much the same as the one that Europe has already come to love — the question, then, is whether or not disappointment is inevitable after so much waiting. Spotify gave us the opportunity to take the premium desktop and mobile versions of the service for a spin. Check out the result below.

Griffin’s AppPowered Helo TC is a $50 iOS helicopter for your home’s air zone

Get to the chopper! Er, micro-copter. Say hello to Griffin’s latest AppPowered gadget, the Helo TC. This indoor-heli lets users play pilot via an iOS app offering onscreen “Touch-to-Fly” or accelerometer based “Tilt-to-Fly” controls. After a half-hour’s charge over USB, you’ll be airborne for about eight minutes and can initiate one of three programmable flight paths if you want to go hands-off. Bummer though, you’ll need to hook up a four-AAA packing IR sled to your iDevice for signal. Thankfully, this little guy’s equipped for night flights with five LEDs, and you’ll find extra rotors if you ever need to ditch into the linoleum. Expect to see these popping up during the holiday season for about $50 (£34.99), but for now you’ll find details by flying past the break.

Apple forced to cough up cash over iPhone location tracking in South Korea

You probably thought all the drama surrounding the iPhone location tracking fiasco was over. Oh, how wrong you were. In fact, the controversy seems ripe for a resurgence after a Korean court ordered that country’s Apple arm to pay 1 million won (about $946) to Kim Hyung-suk. The payment was awarded last month, but now Kim’s law firm is prepping a class action suit that could put further pressure on the Cupertino crew — especially in the home of Samsung. This could just be the first in a series of pay outs, as even American courts may look to the decision when considering the fate of other plaintiffs looking to ring a few bucks out of iDevice purveyors. Improved gaming controls or a full-screen view? That’s the conundrum you’ll soon be able to face if you pre-ordered Ten One Design’s Fling mini, which is now shipping. To refresh your memory, the $25 pair of springy capacitive joysticks for mobile devices — specifically iPhone and iPod Touch — cling onto your device’s touchscreen, and aim to add tactile feel and added precision. We’ve used the larger iPad variant in the past and found it worked pretty well, but we’re certainly wary about how much space the mini looks to hog up in comparison. Keepin’ it real fake: Xiaomi M1 melds iPhone and Galaxy S II with custom MIUI ROM (update: no, not really)

Granted, what you’re looking at is nothing more than a skillful render, but if Apple and Samsung ever made beautiful babies, this is what would be bestowed upon the world — pesky lawsuits notwithstanding, that is. The KIRF in question is the Xiaomi M1, a smartphone designed specifically for the MIUI custom Gingerbread ROM. It’s sporting a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm CPU, along with a four-inch, 854 x 480 Super LCD capacitive touchscreen display, and the usual assortment of Bluetooth, GPS, and WiFi. Users will find quadband GSM among the mix, but 3G support remains a mystery — likewise for the RAM, internal storage, and battery capacity. Pricing is an unknown quantity too, although earlier reports suggest we’ll see something in the range of RMB 1,600 (approximately $250). This potential KIRF’ers paradise is expected to ship between mid-August and early September in a variety of colors, which will be eclipsed only by the sweet smell of its unboxing.

Update: As it turns out, the M1 looks nothing like the render we’d seen. Hence, our dreams of this epic KIRF have been dashed, and the purported “real” image of this curious project is now ‘splayed for all to see. Didn’t get a chance to see the original render? Apple actually not looking for additional iPad manufacturers, still BFFs with Foxconn?

Earlier this week, DigiTimes alleged that Apple was considering an additional manufacturer to produce the supposedly looming — but really more mythical — next generation iPad. Fast forward to now, and the Taiwanese publication reports that Cupertino has had a sudden change of heart. Foxconn — who is currently the sole producer of the slate — has reportedly convinced Apple to keep its manufacturing exclusive until the end of this calendar year. All isn’t lost for Foxconn’s competition though: the rumormonger suggests Pegatron still has a shot at a ten million production run for the next iPhone, and whatever iPad’s 2012 will bring. Unmentioned in the report, however, is whether enough salt exists in the world to cover the next round of claims, later this week.
