Brought that shiny new unlocked iPhone 4 home to Tanzania, only have your first App Store experience end in tears? We certainly sympathize, and apparently Apple’s heard your plea. Interested developers can now head on over to the iTunes Connect portal, where they’ll tick some new checkboxes and soon be on their way, peddling their wares to an additional 33 locales — but not the home of .tv, unfortunately. Libratone’s AirPlay-enabled soundbars want to cozy up with your iOS wares

Been on the prowl for an audio solution with AirPlay to compliment your iDevice or Apple TV? Bid hello to Libratone’s ultra-chic Lounge and Live soundbars. Last year, the company introduced its eye-catching Beat wireless speaker system back at IFA; we were intrigued by its active drivers and carry handle, but mildly disappointed that cord-cutting required pesky proprietary adapters. Apple users will be happy to know AirPlay’s been fully embraced this time, along with the signature adornment of cashmere wool. First up, the Live appears to be an Airplay-enabled Beat with 50 extra watts of RMS power (150 total), and an updated — mini TOSlink accepting — 3.5mm input for hooking up non AirPlay-enabled gear. Next up, the sleek Lounge unit above sports a similar external design and digital 3.5mm jack, but it’s svelte in comparison for wall-mounting under a TV. Under its sheep fuzz, you’ll find two 1-inch ribbon tweeters, two 4-inch ceramic drivers, and one 8-inch inverted woofer, all of which are independently amplified for a combined output of 150 RMS watts.

Poised to please audio enthusiasts, both employ DSP and Libratone’s FullRoom for a “360 degree soundscape” controllable via an iOS app, while the Lounge’s volume can also be handled by a TV remote. The Lounge will be available through Apple’s online store this September priced at £1,099 to €,1199 (about $1,791 to $1,954), and the Live for £599 to £6,99 ($699) at Apple retail locations in the EU and US — both in various colorways. The new billboards feature a bottle of the vitamin / caffeine-packing drink, sporting a triple-USB port, which you can plug your devices into for some extra juice. Apparently, you’ll be seeing these if your daily public-transit hustle takes you through the fine cities of Boston, New York, Chicago or Los Angeles — we’d imagine owners of HTC’s Thunderbolt will find them very useful.

Apple has just pushed a new version of iOS, 4.3.4 (4.2.9 for the Verizon iPhone), and it looks to have “fixed” the PDF exploit that has been so notoriously exploited of late. In a summary of what’s changed, Apple indicates that a fix has been applied that will prevent “arbitrary code execution” when viewing a “maliciously crafted PDF” — business speak for “we broke your jailbreak, son.” And, sure enough, you can see what happens after the break when trying to apply the latest. At this point we’re not seeing any other updates or improvements but, really, now that you can view those malicious PDFs without fear on your iPhone or iPad 2, what more do you need?

Got iOS devices deployed across your enterprise? Listen up. Apple’s just announced the Volume Purchase Program, enabling businesses to procure applications from the US App Store en-masse. Upon registering with Cupertino, corporate overlords can then access a web-form to acquire and sling apps to their plebeian employees at will. And for those needing custom corporate-only software? It looks like bespoke B2B applications — even ones built by third parties — will soon be distributed via the same mechanism. We’re not orchard owners, but them Apples are looking mighty tasty, and it’s past BlackBerry season, right?

Griffin’s AppPowered Helo TC is a $50 iOS helicopter for your home’s air zone

Get to the chopper! Er, micro-copter. Say hello to Griffin’s latest AppPowered gadget, the Helo TC. This indoor-heli lets users play pilot via an iOS app offering onscreen “Touch-to-Fly” or accelerometer based “Tilt-to-Fly” controls. After a half-hour’s charge over USB, you’ll be airborne for about eight minutes and can initiate one of three programmable flight paths if you want to go hands-off. Bummer though, you’ll need to hook up a four-AAA packing IR sled to your iDevice for signal. Thankfully, this little guy’s equipped for night flights with five LEDs, and you’ll find extra rotors if you ever need to ditch into the linoleum. Expect to see these popping up during the holiday season for about $50 (£34.99), but for now you’ll find details by flying past the break.

Improved gaming controls or a full-screen view? That’s the conundrum you’ll soon be able to face if you pre-ordered Ten One Design’s Fling mini, which is now shipping. To refresh your memory, the $25 pair of springy capacitive joysticks for mobile devices — specifically iPhone and iPod Touch — cling onto your device’s touchscreen, and aim to add tactile feel and added precision. We’ve used the larger iPad variant in the past and found it worked pretty well, but we’re certainly wary about how much space the mini looks to hog up in comparison. Video Time Machine for iOS (hands-on)

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when the subject of time travel comes up? If you’re like us, you probably think of flying DeLoreans or malfunctioning hot tubs; maybe even the HG Wells chair with a brobdingnagian spinning wheel on the back. Since these types of time machines (you know, the ones that actually go back in time) don’t exist — that we know of, anyway — we need to find other methods of transporting ourselves to another time. That’s where Video Time Machine comes in handy: it chronicles over a century of compiled movies, commercials, TV broadcasts, and other forms of moving pictures into one clever iOS app. We had an opportunity to get some hands-on time with both the iPhone and iPad apps and did some time travelling of our own. TiVo app jumps from iPad to iPhone, adds support for Series3 and HD DVRs

A magazine ad revealed it was on the way, and today TiVo came through by releasing a version of its remote app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. v1.5 does more than just get the existing iPad interface ready for smaller screens, it also increases compatibility by adding “limited compatibility” (search, browse and schedule recordings, plus the virtual remote) with older TiVo Series3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL DVRs, as well as TiVo Premieres supplied by cable providers RCN and Suddenlink. Still waiting in the wings is the promised Android version — unless you’re in the UK. Check out the press release after the break or just click the iTunes link below and give it a download yourself, especially since even the TiVo-less can browse its wares thanks to a new guest mode.
