Lenovo’s 7-inch IdeaPad caught by Mr. Blurrycam?

We spied a mystery FCC listing just the other day, filed under a no-name company but bearing some unmistakable Lenovo markings. Now we have another unidentified device bearing the same branding and, according to our friendly neighborhood tipster, this is the company’s 7-inch IdeaPad, which might be (internally) dubbed the A1-07. It’s said to be powered by a TI OMAP3621 processor (which also drives the Nook Color), features a 7-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen, a Broadcom GPS unit, 3G wireless with a SIM slot, and room for a microSD card as well. A 3,700mAh battery supposedly keeps things juiced, both front- and rear-facing cameras are on offer, and it’s all wrapped in a glossy plastic styling that makes it look a little like a TouchPad with some bare metal highlights. It also features three buttons up front that we’re hoping don’t mean it’s been relegated to Android 2.x. Now, the image above (and the second one, below) have obviously been crudely modified to hide something, and we can’t be sure of what we’re looking at here, but it’s interesting enough for us to pass these along. Back in April, when we put the PlayBook through its paces, we were disappointed to find it lacked the previously promised, and eventually teased, Android Player. Well, the time has finally come — at least for those of you, who don’t mind getting your hands, and tablet, dirty with leaked software. The folks over at n4bb snatched up a beta version of the program, which brings nearly 250,000 little-green-monster apps to the BB slab, but point out that it’s got its drawbacks. Aside from altogether lacking a back button, this build apparently has some lagging issues. If you’re the adventurous type, however, you can download and sideload the appropriate file by clicking on the source link below. But if your PlayBook gets covered in all sorts of leaky beta goo, don’t come running to us — it is unofficial after all.

Nokia’s N5 makes Symbian-powered procession through the FCC

There’s something bittersweet about watching a Symbian phone march through the FCC knowing that Nokia is slowly thinning the herd. This particular model, the N5, made its requisite Mr. Blurrycam debut last month and now we’ve got some details about what the glossy white exterior is hiding. You’ll find Bluetooth and WiFi radios inside, which isn’t surprising, as well as NFC for all the contactless purchasing your Finland-loving heart can handle. On the mobile broadband side of things, there’s support for the 850MHz, 1700MHz, and 1900MHz bands, which means it’ll work with either T-Mobile or AT&T. Besides price and release date, the big question on our minds is whether or not anyone will buy a Symbian phone knowing the platform is destined for extinction?

Mystery Lenovo Tablet tries to sneak through the FCC, 7-inch IdeaPad on the way?

Tell Sally Kimball to grab her bike, looks like we’re gonna have to leave Idaville to solve this mystery. What appears to be a brand new tablet from the fine folks at Lenovo just tried to sneak its way through the FCC, bearing the model numbers IdeaPad A1-07 and LePad A1-07. There is a chance, however remote, this could be LePad successor CEO Yang Yuanqing said would be coming in September or October. But, with the K1 and P1 having only recently emerged from the shadowy back alleys of Leaktown, it’s hard to imagine the Chinese manufacturer is already prepping a follow up. The “07” implies this could be a 7-inch sibling of those 10-inch slates, but we’re just taking shots in the dark. The only thing we know for certain is the A1-07 sports Bluetooth — not terribly surprising. If you’re the type who likes line graphs and regulatory labels make sure to hit up the source link.

Sony’s A77 continues to tease, brings A65 and NEX-7 along for the ride

Still waiting for August? Don’t fret, the Sony rumor mills are still a churnin’. We begin with another official-looking leak of the oft-teased A77 — this time accompanied by its bodacious portrait-assisting hand-grip. Joining the fray is a plethora of leaked pricing: 1,050€ (or about $1,500) for the body of the aforementioned shooter and 900€ (around $1,300) for its little brother the A65. Fancy something smaller? Nokia ‘Sea Ray’ WP7 handset revealed on a factory floor? (Video)

Stephen Elop himself spilled the beans about Nokia’s first WP7 handset, codenamed Sea Ray, when he told a large live audience and some whirring video cameras that he wanted the phone to be kept “super confidential.” Now we have a whole new puddle of legumes lying on what sounds like a Chinese factory floor, courtesy of the authentic-looking video above. The clip reveals the N9-like device removed from what appears to be a stealth case, followed by a speedy boot-up into the Windows Phone OS. We’re also treated to a quick look at the camera in action — triggered by a dedicated shutter button that’s missing on the N9 — before a hurried “goodbye.” There’s not much else to see here, but could that reddish theme be a hint that this particular example is destined for Vodafone? Only time will tell.

Apple leaks Cinema Display refresh, teases dual-monitor Thunderbolt setup?

The cat Apple is out of the bag, apparently. Thanks to a leak on its website, there’s evidence that Cupertino’s readying a formal introduction of Thunderbolt to more devices. Keen eyes from MacRumors have spotted products on the site now sporting OS X Lion backgrounds, notably, what appears to be T-bolt connected Cinema Displays. The images showing the hook-up no longer appear to be listed, but the dual-setup above sure looks nifty. Considering Lion’s got about two weeks left to rear its head and meet that July release, we’d surmise it won’t be long until you’ll be able to opt for a similar rig. Now can we please just get an anti-glare option?

Microsoft leaks Tulalip internal project, planning to launch social search… thing?

Google’s Social Search may have to make room for an extra guest at the table, now that Microsoft has leaked the homepage for what looks like a new social service — of some sort. Fusible first discovered the page sitting at socl.com, a domain that MS recently purchased. Known as Tulalip (also the name of a group of Native American tribes near Redmond), the project promises to help users “find what you need and share what you know easier than ever” — which, at this early stage, is pretty difficult to do, considering that the page’s search field is non-functioning. The platform also features sign-in buttons for Facebook and Twitter, the latter of which leads to an authorization page explaining that Tulalip is an “experimental app,” and that it will be able to “update your profile” and “post tweets for you” (see the screenshot, after the break). It’s too early, of course, to say whether or not the service will launch as a direct competitor to Social Search, or if it’ll even get off the ground, though Microsoft insists that it didn’t mean to tip its hand so early. The Socl.com welcome page now reads: “Socl.com is an internal design project from one of Microsoft’s research teams which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn’t mean to, honest.”

International Atrix unlocked bootloader uncovered, hackers around the globe rejoice

That Atrix unlocked bootloader that leaked last month had one nagging limitation — it was only for the AT&T version of Motorola’s dual-core device. Now, thanks to the tireless folks who haunt the XDA forums, all of our international friends rockin’ the laptop-dockable handset will soon be free of Moto’s chains. Project Cheesecake, as the quest was known, has dug up files from a forthcoming Orange UK firmware upgrade that can be applied to any Atrix across the globe. That means even our impatient neighbors to the north on Bell will be able to get in on the unlocking action early. If you can’t wait for Motorola to officially get the update out the door, just keep an eye out at the source and more coverage links. The devs are doing some final testing to ensure it doesn’t brick phones and creating localized builds, so you’re just gonna have to wait a tiny bit longer.

LG Optimus Pro surfaces, dressed for your next business meeting (video)

Poor RIM — everybody wants a piece of the BlackBerry pie, as the company attempts to maintain its position as the face of business-minded smartphones in an era ruled by iPhones and Android devices. It’s tough to avoid mentioning the company when looking at these shots unearthed by Italy’s Android World blog of the forthcoming LG Optimus Pro, whose form factor ought to prove comfortably familiar to BlackBerry devotees. According to the site, the Gingerbread device has a 2.8 inch screen, a three megapixel camera, an 800MHz processor, and will run €179 ($249) in that country. Not much more info is available at present, but there’s a video after the break, and the source link has a few more shots, if you need help imagining it in your hand at your next board meeting.
