Lenovo’s IdeaPad S10-2 now available to order

Without question, the hottest product in Lenovo’s lineup right now is the recently unveiled IdeaPad S12, but if you’re not up for waiting (or if you just prefer the 10-inch form factor), you can wiggle your cursor over to the outfit’s S10-2 portal. Starting today, the refreshed S10-2 is up for order, with current shipping estimates pegged at “within 16 business days.” The unit is available in black, grey, white and pink starting at $439, but as always, it’ll be tough to skip over all those customizations on the way to checkout.

Mattel’s Mindflex coming October 1st for $99.99

It’s not often that a Mattel toy targets the 18 – 128 demographic, but we’ll be frank — the Mindflex has us all sorts of intrigued. Originally introduced at this year’s CES, said game is a brain-powered fun-fest that relies on intense mental activity to control the height of a ball suspended in a column of air. Early on, we heard that it would land sometime during this year for $80, but it seems as if only one of those factoids will prove true. Indeed, Amazon has it listed to ship on October 1st, which gives proactive parents plenty of time to stock up for the holidays. Unfortunately, the price seems to have inched up by a Jackson, as it’s currently up for pre-order at $99.99. Rest assured, however, that said price is far less than what you’ll pay on eBay if you’re empty-handed come December 20th.

BenQ’s $499 Joybee GP1 pocket projector up for pre-order

We had the pleasure of checking out BenQ’s Joybee GP1 pocket projector back in March at CeBIT, and now the bantam beamer is just about ready to ship here in the States. Starting now (like, right now), interested consumers can plop down $499 in order to secure a place in line, ensuring that you’ll be one of the first on the block to take possession of the planet’s first LED-based PJ with a USB reader. Specs wise, you’ll find a DLP projection system kicking out an 858 x 600 resolution, 100 ANSI lumens, a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, a built-in 2-watt speaker and VGA / component / composite inputs. Five bills sounds a little steep for what it is, but hey, it’s a 1.4 pound projector — did you really expect it to be economical?

ASUS Eee PC 1000HV resurfaces with Atom N280, HD 3450

Another day, another entrant in the mile-long list of Eee PC netbooks. This one, however, is a curious add. You see, the Eee PC 1000HV originally came to light way back in July of 2008, when no fewer than 23 Eee model names were casually leaked out. Since that day, we’ve heard not a peep from the machine… until now, obviously. In a few locations overseas, the 1000HV has emerged for order, packing a 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 display, a 1.66GHz Atom N280 CPU, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, VGA output, the standard assortment of ports and a mildly attractive AMD HD 3450 graphics set — the same one that ASUS recently shoved in its HD-minded Eee Box 206. We can’t help but applaud the choice to slip in a real (or quasi-real, anyway) GPU here, but until this pup heads stateside, we’re still figuring this is all just a figment of our imagination.

ASUS Eee PC 1008HA Seashell up for pre-order, early adopters score a $20 discount

ASUS is just about ready to push its new thin and light Eee PC 1008HA Seashell netbook into the delicate hands of consumers, and a nice stack of retailers just got the thing for pre-order. There’s currently a $20 drop in the (fairly steep) $430 pricetag for folks who brave the pre-order, and ASUS expects retailers to deliver the white version by around the 27th, with the black version following on the 28th of this month.

Nokia N97 pre-order falls to $524.25 in the US

Yes, technology tends to fall in price as it ages, but is the still-unreleased N97 prematurely getting on in the years or something? Did we miss that memo? Nokia USA is already blowing out N97 pre-orders for $174.75 off the $699 retail price after having originally gone up for sale just earlier this week — and you still get a free BH-703 headset thrown in for good measure. Considering that this means you’re getting the most full-featured device Nokia has ever made for the same price as a NAM E75, it seems like a no-brainer; hurry up, though, because we suspect this discount is a limited-time sort of deal.

[Thanks, Trudy]

Update: With code CARTP409N, the price falls to a ridiculously low $454. Seriously, what’s up with the fire sale? Thanks, Lee!

Update 2: Sadly, the code’s no longer working, but it seems like Nokia may honor pricing for those that ordered — here’s hoping. Thanks, everyone!

ASUS Eee PC 1008HA up for pre-order in the UK

It shouldn’t be long now, Yanks. With ASUS’ strikingly thin Eee PC 1008HA — which we toyed with for an unhealthy amount of time at CeBIT this year — up for pre-order in the UK, we’re just certain a US launch is imminent. As of now, Britons with £379.50 ($565) can get in line for the Midnight Blue edition, which should be dispatched in around a month or two according to Amazon UK. For those feeling something a bit less vivid, the all-white version can be ordered up at LaptopsDirect for £20 more. Too pricey for an Atom-powered netbook? Let your wallet be the judge.

Nokia throws up “pre-order soon” logo on US N97, drives the kids crazy

Thanks to the always revealing FCC, we knew good and well Nokia’s painfully expensive N97 had Carolina (and probably the other states, to be fair) on its mind, but now we know the moment of truth is drawing near. As of right now, Nokia’s US website has a teaser block informing us Yanks that we’ll be able to pre-order this here smartphone “soon.” Hitting the link only directs us the European legalese that we’ve digested before, but surely it’ll lead to something meaningful in due time. Patience… it’s a virtue.

Viliv S5 pre-order details firm up: $599 and it’s yours May 8th

It’s been a long and winding road filled with unboxings, impressions, and comparisons, but it looks like the last few details surrounding the U.S. release of Viliv’s Atom-powered S5 MID have now finally been firmed up. According to retailer Dynamism, the device will be available for pre-order on April 27th (at 1PM Eastern) for just $599, or $50 less than previously expected, with the first orders expected to ship on May 8th. Better still, those that pre-order the S5 will also get a free spare battery, a car kit, and a leather pouch, which Dynamism says is a $135 value. No word on the number of units available in that initial batch but, if the Hong Kong and Korean releases are any indication, they could sell out pretty quickly.
