Surely it’ll come elsewhere eventually, but for now an electric version of BMW‘s generously proportioned 5-series sedan looks destined exclusively for China. As part of the company’s partnership with Brilliance China Automotive, BMW Brilliance Automotive is planning to create a pure EV 5-series and to show it off this year — at some point. No further details are known about the car, though we’re quite sure why this is happening. EVs are becoming more and more popular there as China struggles to shrug off a massive foreign oil dependency and BMW saw a similarly massive 87 percent jump in growth of its sales in China in 2010. So, there’s your motive, but we’ll still have to wait a bit for the rest of the details.

3. RIP Justin Bieber
Everyone calm down. Justin Bieber is not dead. People on Twitter are just, as the English put it “taking the piss” out of the ol’ Biebs, or more, his cult fan following known as Beliebers. Other trending topics are #JBisJonasBrothers, #JustinaBieber, and #DamnBeliebers. #RIPJustinBieber

Have you always wanted to add more to your Google Personalized Home Page, like a better bookmark system? Well, now you can thanks to a site to centralize all the modules that people make for the Google Home Page. If you have made your own module that you can submit it here so that other people can also benefit from it. This is a great idea but is not officially run by Google. This means that Google does not host any of the content that is displayed, so for a bookmark module it will be a third party site that will save and maintain the different sites you bookmark. For security reasons, you may want to check who the publisher of each module is to see if they are a reliable source. At least this way you can display your bookmarks for your del.icio.us account!

Of course, if you want to stick with Official Google Modules, then you can visit the forever-growing site where Google accepts module submissions and may eventually add them for you to add to your Google Home Page.

It looks like one lucky user “accidentally” got the Zune 2 software update a little early thanks to a supposed mishap in Windows Update. JJRules, a member of the Zunerama forum, posted some screenshots late last week of the Zune 2 interface (version 2.1.0522.00) that is scheduled to be released in November.

The first question that popped into everyone’s mind was “are the screenshots real?” JJRules did everything he could to assure us that they were indeed real, and he even went as far as to take a screenshot of his entire desktop with the Zune 2 software running. One of the things that really clinched it for me was the comparison of his screenshots (which are below) and the screenshot above which Microsoft provided in one of their own documents. There are a lot of similarities between the two.

So how did he download the Zune 2 software? It was delivered to him via Windows Update on Vista, and one reason he could have been “chosen” was because he is also testing Vista SP1 Beta. In the end, however, JJRules ditched the Zune 2 software because he couldn’t get the Zune MarketPlace to work. As it stands right now he is running Zune 1.3 just like the rest of us, and he says that he hasn’t been prompted to download the software since.

I’m sure all of the Zune users are getting excited about the big update particularly because the 30GB Zune owners will also get a piece of the action. If you happened to hop on board during the Woot $100 Zune blowout sale then you got one heck of a deal, and there is a nice update coming your way!

This one’s about as unofficial as it gets, but Linux users do now have a relatively easy way to receive and play video streamed to their PC via Apple’s AirPlay.
