If you have been wondering how fast your Internet is then this speed test is what you need. The results above were not very accurate for me (I typically get 4000kbps for my download) but it displays a nice graphical speedometer for a little eye candy.

This is a pretty nice test but I am still a big fan of TestMy.net. It may not be as graphically pleasing as the one above but you get a lot more information (and more accurate). They also have a ton of people who do speed tests on their site so they are able to compare your Internet speed with the average speed for your ISP.

We thought Mango’s nectar was already pretty damn sweet, but a group of young developers recently took up the challenge to make the next generation Windows Phone 7 experience even more delicious. Following up on last year’s ‘Rockstar’ competition, Microsoft asked students to submit Mango app prototypes via Twitter, with the promise of developers phones for the top entries. Among the top 20 #WPAppItUp submissions are a program that helps the colorblind figure out what shade of puce they’re peeping, and a sadistic alarm clock that requires users to solve puzzles before hitting the snooze button. Apparently, Microsoft still has 30 Windows Phones to give away, and is looking for young devs to offer up America’s next top Mango app. Submission guidelines can be found at the source link below.

Google TV not worth 300 bones to ya? How’s about a cool Benjamin? As promised, Logitech has slashed the price of its Revue set-top box from $299 to $99 on its own site and at retailers like Best Buy, giving prospective customers something awfully tempting to consider alongside the prospect of running Honeycomb on their TV right away. Oh, and the much-reported nugget from its earnings about “returns exceeding sales”? It should probably be noted that wasn’t about returns from end users, which the company claims “have averaged at levels comparable to other Logitech products”, but from the distributors and retailers it sells most of its hardware to. So, you in, or are you still holding out for the 90 percent off sale that may or may not ever materialize?

I have come to rely on my RSS subscriptions more than I would like to admit. In fact, the very first thing that I do in the morning when I turn on my computer is open up my Feed Reader to go through all of my subscriptions. It’s become a way of life.  Because of that, there’s nothing more frustrating than coming across a site that I’d like to keep tabs on, that doesn’t have any syndication like RSS available.

Searching for a solution to this problem never really occurred to me until recently when I stumbled upon Feedity. It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.

Feedity is a web feed generator for sites that don’t have syndication available.  Thousands of sites use a feed to get their content to readers, and despite this, some sites still don’t offer it.

It’s very simple, yet powerful and useful.  All you have to do is go to Feedity.com with the URL of the site without the syndication, enter in the URL, and Feedity creates an RSS feed that you can subscribe to. And to boot, no registration is required which means this is definitely a no hassle solution.

Feedity works by using content analysis to pick up on hyperlinks, and then generates a feed based upon that. Sometimes, what it generates may not be exactly what you’re wanting. If you’re not satisfied with the results, they offer option to refine them.

The first time I used Feedity was to create an RSS feed for YouTube’s “Most viewed videos for the day.”  I entered in the URL, and right off the bat it worked without a glitch, and I was able to subscribe to the feed. I tried several different sites, and with each one, there was no need to refine the results because it worked exactly how I wanted it to the first time.

Another thing that I like is that they give you examples of how you could use Feedity, like for IMDB Movie Recommendations, TiVo shows search, or even an eBay search.

Feedity is one of those things that you’ll want to stash away in your bookmarks, because eventually you’ll probably come across a site that doesn’t offer syndication. They consider this “experimental” and in Beta, so you may come across a problem here or there. Luckily, I didn’t have any problems, so no complaints here.

Good old Radio Shack just can’t seem to keep its hands on internal memos. A little over a week ago, we were treated to a pair of leaked documents, slating an August 7th rollout for the LG Thrill 4G, and now another official looking missive has surfaced, pushing the release date back to August 21st. As per the document, customers will still be able to reserve their own 3D-enabled handset with the purchase of a $50 gift certificate before August 15th. Of course, we could still see this thrilling 4G phone pop up ahead of that date, perhaps from AT&T, but if you’ve already got a $50 gift certificate in hand, it looks like it’s time for another round of the waiting game.
