Hasta La Gadget!

Turns out all our snooping was spot on with this one. We first spotted a simpler, cheaper Nook making its way through the FCC late last month, and then only last night we got tipped off to a $150 price point for the e-reader sans cellular connection. Now Best Buy has confirmed the whole thing with its listing of the BNRV100 model, which comes in over $100 cheaper than Barnes and Noble’s original ($259), although Best Buy has seen fit to give that a price trim as well. We like where this is going, especially if it triggers B&N’s competitors to lower their own fees.

Update: Barnes and Noble has now gone fully official with its new $149 Nook. The 3G version has taken a price drop to $199 as well, matching the pricing indicated by Best Buy. B&N is today also outing its firmware version 1.4, which allows the free use of AT&T wireless hotspots everywhere.

So much for the “AT&T refuses to release high-end Android devices” conspiracy theory, eh? T-Mobile had been widely pegged as Samsung’s launch partner for the Galaxy S in the States, but AT&T stole its thunder this morning by announcing the Captivate featuring a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, Android 2.1, 7.2Mbps HSPA, and a 1GHz Hummingbird processor. If it sounds more or less like the European Galaxy S, well, your intuitions are spot-on — AT&T actually describes the Captivate as “a Galaxy S smartphone.” As for media, you can expect a 5 megapixel camera with 720p recording, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and 16GB of onboard storage combined with support for external storage for a total of up to 32GB; you also have 802.11n WiFi and a variety of built-in apps (some of which you’ll want, others you won’t) like Swype and AT&T Navigator. Unfortunately, this is a little while out yet — AT&T is only saying that it’ll launch “in the coming months” for an undisclosed price — but we’re at least stoked that AT&T’s finally fully entrenched in the Android superphone game. BGR’s reporting that AT&T’s launch day allocation of iPhone 4s is now sold out, and anyone who got in the door after 1:30PM Pacific Time will get their unit some time between June 25 and July 5. Frankly, we have no idea how anyone managed to get a pre-order in, let alone enough to sell out — but everyone who did deserves a pat on the back and a high-five.

Update: We’ve gotten the official statement from AT&T, and it’s true, though you still might be able to waltz in on launch day without a pre-order and pick up one of the unallocated units:

“Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We’ll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24.”

We don’t know whether this is going to be the Droid 2, the Droid X, or both, but Motorola, Google, Verizon, and Adobe — yes, Adobe — are all getting on stage out in New York on the 23rd of the month to announce some new Android gear. Should be exciting, so keep it locked — because naturally, we’ll be on-hand for all the festivities.

Well, Sony didn’t waste too much time in announcing the Move details you’ve been waiting for — the complete PlayStation Move Sports Champions bundle with the PlayStation Eye, Move and the game will run $99.99, while the Move controller itself will set you back $49.99, and the optional navigation controller is $29.99. Anyone that doesn’t already have a PS3 will also be able to pick up a new console bundle containing everything for $399.99. As for a release date, folks in Europe will be able to get their hands on the Move before anyone else on September 15th, but North American gamers won’t have to wait too much longer to get theirs — it’ll be available over here on September 19th.

Update: We’ve added the full press release after the break, which also includes details on the Move charging station and shooting attachment — look for them to run $30 and $20, respectively.
