We knew the Dell Venue was coming stateside, but now we know it. Dell has announced the phone for our fine country at its CES 2011 press conference, although it failed to mention a price, a release date, or anything else very helpful. Right now Dell doesn’t have a carrier partner, so they’re planning on selling the handset unlocked from Dell.com. Apparently they’re flirting with the idea of a T-Mobile version, but the unlocked model won’t have the T-Mobile 3G bands — basically, it’s an unlocked AT&T phone that AT&T hasn’t blessed. Oh, and just in case you forgot the specs: WVGA 4.1-inch AMOLED screen, 8 megapixel camera, Android 2.2, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8250 processor. Got it? Good, now we wait.

It’s true, Dell unleashed two new Alienware systems this morning, and naturally we just had to check out the two epically powerful rigs in person. We spent the most time with the new 17-inch M17x, and while the chassis has been updated, it’s still loaded with lots of LEDs, a trippy color-changing backlit keyboard, and chrome accents. The lid and edges have been given a more chiseled aesthetic, so we’d say it looks more muscular than ever. Obviously, the big story with the M17x is that it is now 3D capable. The full HD display is seriously beautiful, and while we didn’t get to check out a Blu-ray 3D movie on the rig, we can only imagine how breathtaking the experience is going to be. We did, however, get to check out its new integrated 1080p streaming capability, which actually is based on an integrated WHDI solution. You’ll need to pick up an extra box and hook it up to your TV, but in the demo we saw there was absolutely no lag between the clip of Final Fantasy on the laptop and on the TV. The unit we saw hanging around was packing a new Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA graphics, but it will apparently be available with AMD’s latest graphics as well.
We also caught sometime with the new Aurora desktop, but like we said it wasn’t much. The tower is still crazily-lit, but has been updated with the most powerful overclockable Intel Core i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge processors as well as new NVIDIA graphics that support 3D Vision. The Aurora should be available this month for a starting price of $1,799 and the M17x for $1,499 on January 10th. Got a hankering for some NVIDIA 3D Vision in a new laptop PC? Dell’s making it happen with some component upgrades on its high-end Alienware M17x and XPS 17 laptops. It seems Round Rock came across a few shipments of a 17-inch, 1080p panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, perfect for interfacing with NVIDIA’s shutter glasses, and is including it (along with a new NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M for the XPS 17) as premium options. They’ll also both sport Intel’s new Sandy Bridge processors. Dell’s press release doesn’t specify if a set of 3D glasses will come with the new laptops, nor how much the upgrade will cost, but a 3D-capable M17x will start at $1,499 starting January 10th, and a stereoscopic XPS 17 will run $1,449 on February 1st. You do the math.
Updated: We got to check out the XPS 17 3D after the presser. Those looking for 3D in the XPS chassis won’t be dissapointed — Alice in Wonderland looked pretty great in three dee. We also got to check out the M17x — hands-on with that one here.

We just touched the Streak 7 for the first time, and if we had to sum it up, we’d say this thing is a giant Streak (the 5-inch version, that is) without an earpiece. That’s not necessarily a bad thing considering that the Streak was a little too big to be a great phone and a little too small to be a great tablet; the glossy, curved design elements have never been the problem, and they look just as good here. The screen seems a bit washed-out — it might not be the highest-quality thing in the world — nor did it seem unusually speedy, though we’re hoping Tegra 2 ends up kicking butt once the software’s optimized.

Dell just pulled out a 10-inch Android tablet on the CES 2011 stage. It looks like it’s running Stage UI, and that tiny silver dot up top might be a front-facing camera. There’s a docking port on the bottom and a headphone jack (and what looks like a volume rocker) on the left side. That’s literally all we know for now. You’re such a tease, Dell.
Update: Dell says it’s called the Streak 10. Makes sense, no? By the way, that’s a non-functional unit that Dell’s held up on stage — just a backlit, static image on a device that’s not yet ready for primetime.

Dell’s Looking Glass tablet has just received its official papers, being dubbed the Streak 7 and packed off to T-Mobile HSPA+ network. Alas, unlike its fellow CES debutants from the likes of Motorola and LG, this slate only has Android 2.2 on board, no Honeycomb, but you do get a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, a Gorilla Glass-protected screen, 16GB of internal memory, and of course the greatness and glory of that 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor. T-Mobile retail stores and Dell’s direct online outlet should have the Streak 7 “in the coming weeks.” Full PR and an introductory video follow after the break.

Dell hasn’t had a regular booth or presser at CES in a few years now — the company chooses to bunker down in a suite at the Palms instead. That’s where we’re currently hangin’, waiting to see what Round Rock has in store for us this year — and there’s a huge Alienware Hummer parked outside, so we’re definitely expecting some gaming news. But what else will Dell do? Another Adamo-bearing model? Another super-hasty Streak hands-on in a back alley? We’ll find out soon enough.
