ThinkGeek Joystick-It brings arcade-style fun to your otherwise mundane tablet gaming experience

We’ve seen many arcade-style joysticks for video game consoles over the years, and the trend is making its way to the tablet market. The ThinkGeek Joystick-It attaches to your tablet’s screen in a position of your choosing so that you can game on your shiny new slate in a decidedly retro way. The joystick is all-aluminum, works with any game that has an on-screen control pad, and does its thing without the use of batteries. We don’t know how the device actually attaches to the display, but we do know that it is more aesthetically pleasing than other tactile control solutions we’ve seen at CES this year. The Joystick-It will cost $24.95 and be available by the end of January, so if old-school gaming is your thing, check out the demo video after the break.

[Thanks, Jessica]

Flickr headed to Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7

It’s official: Flickr has announced that it’s launching an officially official Flickr app for Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7. Though we don’t know exactly when the photo sharing apps will launch, you can sign up at the source link on Flickr so they can let you know when it actually launches. In the meantime, there’s a video demo of the apps in action, and we have to say, we like what we’re seeing.

Dell Streak 7 first hands-on! (update: more video)

We just touched the Streak 7 for the first time, and if we had to sum it up, we’d say this thing is a giant Streak (the 5-inch version, that is) without an earpiece. That’s not necessarily a bad thing considering that the Streak was a little too big to be a great phone and a little too small to be a great tablet; the glossy, curved design elements have never been the problem, and they look just as good here. The screen seems a bit washed-out — it might not be the highest-quality thing in the world — nor did it seem unusually speedy, though we’re hoping Tegra 2 ends up kicking butt once the software’s optimized.

Update: Check out two hands-on videos. After the break, of course.

Razer Switchblade preview: 3G, Intel Oak Trail, almost definitely going on sale

Whoa, Nelly! We just made a beeline to Razer’s booth here on the CES show floor, and were presented with a fairly technical talk surrounding the newly launched Switchblade. While officially deemed a concept, we came away with a serious impression that Razer’s not investing loads of time and money on this just for kicks. In other words, we’d cautiously expect to see this thing on sale at some point next year — but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. We spent a good half-hour toying with this Windows 7-based mini netbook, and we came away seriously impressed by what’s happening here. Head on past the break for more of our impressions.

Writely Switches To Google Authentication…And Nothing More

This article was written on September 21, 2006 by CyberNet.

Writely Google Authentication Writely sent out emails to all registered users the other day which said that they were switching over to Google Authentication. I figured that meant that they were going to make a complete switch over to Google including changing the logo, branding and layout. However, the login box is the only thing that has changed.

I was a little disappointed that they didn’t make a complete switch over to Google but I guess they are probably doing it little by little to make sure that something doesn’t go wrong. They did do a nice job of making the switch to Google Authentication because I still have all of my files available that I had available on Writely. That would really suck if someone lost all of their files. ;)
