Before we proceed any further, you owe it to yourself to check out our 3DS review or the video after the break in order to fully comprehend what Nintendo’s augmented reality cards mean for 3DS gaming. We’ll wait right here, take your time. Now that everyone’s fully up to speed, an enterprising dev has put together an app that includes all of Ninty’s add-in cards for its soon-to-be-launched handheld, allowing you to stash them on your Android smartphone and freeing up more pocket space for game cartridges and bubble gum. The descriptively titled 3DS AR Cards app costs nothing to own, though we’re sure its maker will appreciate a note of thanks should you end up using it.

Mozilla Firefox 4 RC for Android and Maemo now up for grabs

If you’re liking what Firefox 4 for mobile already offers in its previous beta builds, then you’ll certainly want to check out its release candidate that went live on Monday — just less than six months after the browser when beta. According to Mozilla, this new build provides a better overall user experience with faster scrolling and improved Firefox Sync, along with other goodies like Awesome Screen smart shortcuts, tabbed browsing, Firefox Add-ons, and Persona themes. Sounds a lot like its desktop sibling (which has a healthy 4.9 million downloads already), doesn’t it? Google brings check-ins to Google Latitude on iPhone, 30 languages to Places

Unsurprisingly, El Goog gifted the Android versions of Latitude and Places with these updates a few weeks back, but now the iOS loyalists are being brought into a similar circle. The search giant has just added check-ins to the iOS version of Google Latitude, with any iDevice using iOS 4 or higher being deemed compatible. In related news, the Applefied build of Google Places is now available in 30 languages, and there’s an added ‘Saved Places’ feature for keeping tabs on your favorite spots. You can check your phone for updates, or if you haven’t dug in yet, have a poke around in the App Store.

Contour launches Viewfinder App, lets your iPhone talk to your ContourGPS

Helmet cam aficionado? Contour’s ContourGPS currently has the greatest range of connectivity options, and one of those options, Bluetooth, is finally good for something. The company has just flipped the switch and deployed its Viewfinder app that we last saw at CES, which allows iOS devices to pull live video from the camera, even if it’s still stuck to the side of your head and covered in mud. Users can also tweak camera settings in real-time, which is a huge step forward over the previous process that required tethering the cam and booting up some software. However, there is a catch: to use the device you have to install a little card, called a ConnectView, into your camera. This sucker will set you back $29.99, though we’re told the upcoming Android release of the app will be able to do without. Unfortunately, that version won’t be along until an unfortunately vague “Spring,” but the iOS flavor is a free download right now in the App Store.

Logitech launches Squeezebox Controller app for Android phones and tablets

We’re not certain this is the “ground-breaking new product” Logitech was hiring Android engineers for, but Squeezebox fans packing an Android tablet or phone have something new to download now that an official remote app is available. It gives full control over WiFi to all the Squeezeboxes you can fit in your home and brings the usual controls, metadata and album artwork from player to your mobile’s screen. While we’re still keeping our fingers crossed for a Vizio-style Android music box in the future if you have a 2.1 or later device in hand and a Squeezebox Touch, Boom, Duet or similar on the end table, you’ll want to head directly to that Market link below or check out the full description on Logitech’s site.

Windows Phone 7 hack brings instant app resumption, mobile multitasking to the masses

Looking for a little snappier response when jumping to and fro between apps on your WP7 device? Well, do we have just the hack for you — a dev from Windows Phone Hacker, Jaxbot, did some poking around in the Window’s Phone registry and found a way to instantly resume apps, no muss, no fuss. By setting the “DehydrateOnPause” registry key value to zero, he got rid of that pesky app dehydration / rehydration process altogether. Keep in mind there may be some “undesirable” side effects from force-feeding your device multitasking (ADD?) ahead of schedule and you’ll need a developer-unlocked device to access the registry, so only advanced users need apply — you taking notes, Mr. Ballmer? Cobra Tag Bluetooth key tagging system to ship in July, iRadar and PhoneLynx coming to Android

Cobra’s taking a step back from its usual array of radar detectors to make a showing down in Orlando, and as such, today’s announcements are all about mobile. The company’s Cobra Tag system — which popped up initially back at CES — has just been given a price and release date. The Bluetooth tagging system will be keeping track of your car keys (and other miscellaneous items) starting in July, with a Bluetooth key fob linking up with a smartphone app in order to constantly monitor the position of anything it’s connected to. All’s that required from you is a BlackBerry or Android smartphone, $59.99 and a mindful personality. In related news, the outfit’s also making available the previously announced iRadar application for Android, which is used to link your smartphone and radar detector, as well as the PhoneLynx for Android, which enables users to use a landline handset while tapping into Android voice minutes. Boxee 1.05 bringing ‘huge browser update’ by end of March

There’s still not a ton of specifics on this one just yet, but Boxee’s VP of Marketing, Andrew Kippen, has confirmed on the TechWebcast podcast that the Boxee 1.05 update will be rolling out by the end of March — which, last we checked, wasn’t that far away. The big news there is that it will boast a “huge browser update” that will not only speed up the browser considerably, but add compatibly with far more video-minded websites. Kippen also mentioned the iPad app we first saw back at CES, which will let you stream content from your iPad to your Boxee Box, and adds some social features like the ability to see what your friends are watching. Still no word on an exact release date for it, but it will apparently only be compatible with the iPad 2 for reasons unknown.

Update: Fear not original iPad owners, Boxee just informed us that the iPad app will in fact work on all iPads. It’s also let us know that the Boxee Box update will actually be version 1.05, not 1.5, but it will still include everything described.
