MSI’s longevous Wind U110 ECO available now for $400

We’ll be frank — discovering that MSI’s Wind U110 ECO didn’t boast an ATI GPU as we’d originally heard really put a damper on things, but still, a 9-cell battery that promises up to 15 hours of life on a single charge is hard to ignore. Granted, we have all ideas that real-world figures will pull up well short of that, but it should still outlast the vast majority of rivals currently on the market. If you’ve forgotten the specs, here’s a rundown: 1.6GHz Atom Z530 CPU, Windows XP Home, GMA500 graphics, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi, a 1.3 megapixel camera, gigabit Ethernet, a trio of USB 2.0 ports and a 4-in-1 card reader. If you’ve no interest in waiting ’til October 22nd, this one’s readily available at NewEgg for $399.99.

MSI ships 12.1-inch, Athlon Neo-equipped Wind U210

MSI’s Wind U210 has certainly been making the rounds, but it has yet to plant its feet firmly on US soil. Until today, obviously. Checking in at 3.2 pounds, this 12.1-inch netbook is equipped with a larger-than-usual 1,366 x 768 display, AMD’s 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive and a 6-cell battery that’s reportedly good for four hours of usage. The rig’s also packing an ATI Radeon X1250 in the graphics department, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, HDMI output, three USB 2.0 sockets, a VGA port and a 4-in-1 multicard reader. For those interested in buying a Vista-equipped machine just a month before Windows 7 swoops in to save the day, both Amazon and NewEgg would be more than happy to make your wallet $430 lighter.

Sony PS3 Slim turns up at Florida Best Buy

What do we have here, you ask? Why, it’s the Sony PS3 Slim, and it’s available for purchase at this here Best Buy in Brandon, Florida — a full day before Amazon ships ours. And you said you’d never go back to Brandon! A reader picked one up along with Arkham Asylum, and was good enough to share his haul with us (and with the world) via the Twitter. If you’re in the area, you might want to make a quick trip out to the box store before the global PS3 Slim shortage hits. More photographic evidence after the break.

Ion-equipped Samsung N510 netbook shipping stateside next month

Momma always said you had to pay to play, and it looks like those Europeans won’t be the only ones coughing up dearly for the pleasure of having NVIDIA’s Ion platform shoved within Samsung’s forthcoming N510 netbook. According to the fine folks over at Liliputing, a Samsung rep has confirmed to them that said machine will begin shipping to US soil starting in September (far later than the “July” date we heard earlier in the year), bringing with it a sizable 11.6-inch display, HDMI output, GeForce 9400M GPU, Atom processor and the ability to handle high-def and Blu-ray content. Trouble is, all that multimedia prowess will demand a stiff premium, and by “stiff,” we mean “$599.” So, is anyone actually planning on laying down six bills for a netbook, or did you just convince yourself that a thin-and-light is the way to go?

Palm Pre sales go live at Amazon

If you love the Pre, but hate Best Buy or Sprint, now you’ve got the option of nabbing one through an online reseller you can live with: Amazon. The device has just popped up on the super-retailer’s site, and like the aforementioned blue and yellow reseller, you don’t have to worry about any pesky mail-in rebates — the phone is $199.99 out the virtual door. Also of note, you can nab the non-contract version for $499.99, which is a $50 savings over the Sprint pricing, and certainly a value compared to Best Buy’s $749.99 price tag. Only bummer note? Amazon says these babies won’t ship for 4 to 6 weeks… which basically sucks.

HTC Hero on sale tomorrow at Orange UK

We may have scored HTC’s latest Android-infused device for a brief window of time, but if you’re hoping to snag one for keeps, you’ll need to jet over to the UK and sign away your cellular soul to Orange. Based on a brief but pointed tweet from a carrier representative, the HTC Hero will be “available from Orange UK retail stores [starting] tomorrow.” The phone is already up on the operator’s website in a delightful graphite hue, and the price of £0.00 on a pay monthly contract sure is luscious. So much for T-Mobile Germany getting a jump on everyone, huh?

ViewSonic’s VPC100 all-in-one PC now available for $600

ViewSonic‘s probably best known for its LCD monitors and not its all-in-one PCs, but those not turned on by MSI’s AE1900 (for whatever reason) can surely give the VPC100 a look. First announced at CES, this 1.6GHz Atom-powered all-in-one packs an all black, glossy enclosure, a 19-inch panel, Windows XP Home and a lifetime supply of Fruit Loops. Wait, that can’t be right. Anywho, it’s all yours from a number of respected e-tailers for $599.

MSI’s X-Slim X340 now shipping in US for $899.99

It’s hard to say if our harmless threats influenced the MSRP here, but either way, we’ll take it. MSI has finally (finally!) come clean with a set price on its succulent X-Slim X340, and while we heard through the grapevine awhile back that it would ship here for under a grand, we definitely had our doubts. Starting today, eager consumers can order one for the low, low price of $899.99, which buys you an Intel ULV SU3500 processor, Vista Home Premium, a 13.4-inch 1,366 x 768 resolution display, GMA 4500MHD graphics and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. There’s also a 320GB hard drive, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, 4-cell battery (an 8-cell is optional), 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, twin USB 2.0 sockets, VGA / HDMI outputs and an SD / MMC card reader. The 0.78-inches thick machine is shipping today in the US of A from a bevy of e-tailers, and you can peek the full release just after the break.

Update: Looks like some e-tailers even have it at $799. Nice!

Samsung ships $129 SPF-87H 8-inch digiframe / secondary monitor

Samsung’s been dousing just about anything it can get its paws on with that ‘Touch of Color‘ design scheme, and even the outfit’s latest digiframe wasn’t able to dodge the madness. The 8-inch SPF-87H, which was originally introduced to the world back in April, is now shipping to those scouting a multifaceted digital photo frame. Unlike traditional alternatives, this 0.91-inch thick frame can double as a secondary display (via USB), and the respectable 800 x 480 resolution panel ensures that you can fit more than just a weather widget on there. Other specs include 1GB of built-in storage, an SD expansion slot, 500:1 contrast ratio and a $129 price tag.
