So yesterday we learned that Samsung’s planning to speed up the dual-core Exynos processor inside its Galaxy S II to 1.2GHz, but there was also word that the handset may suffer a setback in terms of release date. Today, the company has tweeted out a two-part notice assuring us that that will not be the case and things are proceeding “as planned.” April will see the first retail appearance of the 8.5mm-thick Android phone, though Samsung does advise that “it will be gradually rolled out in each market according to the local launch timetable.” That sounds to us like whatever April availability we get will be in the highest priority markets and / or limited in quantity, but we’ll take whatever we can get.

Dell’s Rosemount tablet is similar to the HP Slate in that it’s a 10-inch, business-centric Windows 7 tablet whose launch has been bumped back further than originally expected. To be clear, this isn’t an explicit delay, since Dell has never given official indication for when in 2011 it’ll launch the slate device, but a leaked tablet roadmap back in February suggested it would be with us in the warm and breezy days of June. Now, Forbes is reporting insider info that states the Rosemount won’t be hitting shops until fall, September at the earliest, meaning it’ll miss the back-to-school sales period but arrive with plenty of time for the holiday shopping rush. Let’s hope all this time taken leads to a finger-friendly software overlay for Windows 7 — we love the OS’ multivariate functionality but it was never designed for control with the imprecision of fleshy digits.

Is it really the end of March? That’s debatable, but if you’ve been wondering where Sonos’ Controller for Android app is, well… wonder no more. Rather than cutting it loose within the next week (as promised earlier in the year), the outfit’s vice president of quality has informed the world that it won’t be available until next month. The exact quote?

“We know you’re anxiously awaiting the Sonos Controller for Android. Unfortunately, testing the app is taking a bit longer than we anticipated. The latest addition to our free controller line-up won’t arrive until April, but when it does, it is going to rock.”

But will it rock as much as the image above? Time will tell, friends.

The iPad 2 is already delayed in Australia and New Zealand

If you want to get your hands on an iPad 2 on the international launch day, you’d better go sleep outside an Apple Store. Thanks to the wonders of time difference, it is already tomorrow, March 24th in Australia and New Zealand, and the online Apple Store is already experiencing delays.

All 12 models went on sale at 1AM this morning (or tomorrow morning — I’m a little confused) and all 12 will ship in two to three weeks. That’s pretty much the same amount of time as you’ll have to wait in the U.S.

It seems that Apple just can’t make enough of these things, and is selling as many as it can force manufacturer Foxconn to pump out of its Chinese factories. I’m pretty sure that its selling faster than the original iPad did last year, but I still doubt that it has shifted one million units in the first weekend as some sold “analysts” have guessed — if it had, wouldn’t Apple be bragging about it already? Still, at this rate, we should probably expect the iPad 2 to hit the million mark in less than the 28 days it took the first version.

I will likely be heading over to Barcelona’s new Apple Store tomorrow afternoon, but I’m really in no rush. After all, my existing iPad still works fine, even if it now looks as fat and ugly as Ben Grimm. If any of you are going to be at the Barcelona store, come and say hi. I’ll be the handsome one on crutches.

If you’ve been dying to get your hands on an iPad 2, but didn’t have the forethought or wherewithal to stand in line for one, then get ready to wait, because Apple’s online store is showing delays of up two to three weeks for the slate. You can go ahead and order one now, but there’s a chance you won’t get your hands on the slab until April — unless, of course, one of these guys is waiting in line to buy you a gift.
