A slew of leaked video tutorials for upcoming BlackBerry devices is finally giving us a glimpse into what RIM has in store to keep its diehard fans from ditching the platform. Among some more video of the all-touchscreen BlackBerry Monaco / Touch, we’re finally seeing how the popular Bold form factor will benefit from some touchscreen magic in the aptly named Bold Touch. We’re longtime fans of the traditional form factor, but if anything, the addition looks to be more trouble than it’s worth. Like its sliding cousin, the Torch, touch input seems even more gimmicky given that all the same functions can be performed using the familiar (and beloved) optical trackpad — which doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Sure, touchscreens are all the rage these days and pinch-to-zoom is nice, but we can’t help but wonder if RIM is simply killing time until its dual-core QNX-equipped phones hit unsuspecting BBM’ers. Of course, the company has been impressing us with its use of touch on the Playbook, so there’s no telling what it might have in store come BlackBerry World. Looking for your fibrous dose of gadget leak? Look no further than China which has, again and again, outed several spy shots of what appears to be the Xperia X10 Mini Pro’s successor. Dubbed the SK17i and codenamed “Mango,” this time we’re looking at some proof of Android 2.3 on this little Sony Ericsson slider, along with a homescreen UI not dissimilar to that of the X10 Mini and X8 series. Other than that, we’re not seeing anything new here, though we can’t help but wonder if the unused Xperia Duo trademark has finally found its rightful owner — you know, maybe Duo as in a two-part slider phone? As always, only time will tell.

Let’s get the hard facts out of the way first: HP has a pair of as-yet-unannounced laptops in the pipeline, to be dubbed the EliteBook 2560p and 2760p. That info comes straight from a PDF document hosted on HP’s servers, and barring a spectacular change in the company’s model numbering scheme, the new machines will be replacing the 12.1-inch 2540p and 2740p introduced around this time last year. In less concrete but still likely accurate news, the specs for these machines are expected to include low- and standard-voltage Intel Core i7 processors (of the 2011 variety), USB 3.0 and DisplayPort connectivity, and options for 1440 x 900 resolution on matte displays. The difference between the two EliteBooks is that the 27xx series has typically been a convertible tablet PC while its lesser-numbered sibling is usually a straight ultraportable. Can’t be long to go until these ThinkPad X220 competitors get official.

The OnBeat is JBL’s first iPad speaker dock, and it will be available in April for $150. Touted as a loudspeaker docking station, you can stream Netflix, chat on Skype, or watch YouTube using the dock, or just blast some music. A universal connector supports iDevice docking in landscape or portrait orientation, and an IR remote lets you control it from the comfort of the couch.

iPod Batteries In Short Supply After Factory Closure
The factory supplying a particular polymer used to make the iPod’s lithium-ion batteries was closed after Japan’s March 11 earthquake, now leading to tight supplies of the eponymous MP3 player. The company in charge of the factory, Kureha Corp., plans to move more of its factories overseas. Although the factory itself wasn’t overly damaged, the port nearby has sustained sever damage, inhibiting the delivery of necessary chemicals.

Cosmonaut Stylus Feels Like You’re Using a Dry Erase Marker
From the makers of the Glif comes the Cosmonaut, a stylus designed to make writing on a tablet less awkward. The makers felt that using a pen on a tablet felt unnatural; it was like writing on a dry erase board, not writing in a paper notebook. So, they developed a tablet that grips like a dry erase marker. You can donate to their Kickstarter campaign now. The Cosmonaut is expected to retail at $25.

Nokia E6-00 Pics and Specs Leaked: Yep, It’s a Nokia Phone
A prototype Nokia E6-00 was found and has bared all on some Nokia forums. It’s got a VGA resolution capacitive touchscreen (small – under 3-inches) with a D-pad and a physical QWERTY keyboard situated underneath. An 8-megapixel rear camera supports 720p HD video recording. There’s no HDMI port, but it does include a microUSB port and 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as a 2mm charging socket. It runs a new version of Symbian^3 that’s compatible with the 4:3 aspect ratio display.

Those quadrotor drones never cease to amaze. In the latest video from the Flying Machine Arena, a Swiss Federal Institute of Technology research facility, a pair of quadrocopters (and sometimes a human) plays catch with one another. The video title says they are juggling, but they’re not really juggling.

Remember Tamagotchis? They’re Back (in Japan) With Color Displays
Maybe you missed this trend, but back when I was in 5th or 6th grade, everyone had a Tamagotchi. It was a little palm sized, black and white screened gadget that you let you raise and take care of a virtual pet. Bandai has now released the Tamagotchi iD L, which is available in 6 colors, with 32 virtual characters. I’m not quite sure if today’s smartphone toting, Internet-savvy pre-teens and tweens will dig this little electronic toy of yesteryear… Perhaps that’s why they’re releasing it exclusively in Japan first.

Sprint may not be the only US carrier spreading its wings with an HTC tablet this summer, oh no — promotional materials obtained by PocketNow point to the HTC Flyer launching with T-Mobile as well. Though the marketing mockups don’t prove that Madam Magenta will actually be offering the 7-inch Gingerbread tablet with Scribe stylus (or distinguish between T-Mobile USA and its European counterparts, for that matter), the carrier’s clearly given it a lot of thought, and HTC’s spec sheet for the Flyer has indeed listed the AWS bands necessary to carry T-Mobile USA’s 3G data since day one.
