SanDisk ships first ever multicard readers with style

Okay, so maybe you’ve seen a multicard reader or two in your day that wasn’t unsightly to the nth degree, but it’s a rarity, let us tell you. Furthermore, SanDisk‘s latest bunch are amongst the first we’ve seen that we’d actually feel somewhat proud to have sitting on our desks, and considering that there’s only so much added functionality you can give these things, aiming for high fashion was probably a good move. The new line of ImageMate readers are currently shipping out to retailers in North America, with the All-In-One reader listing at $29.99 and the Multi-Card reader selling for $10 less.

Amazon’s Kindle 2 listed as “in stock” — for now, anyway

We heard that Amazon was already prepping the earliest Kindle 2 orders for shipment, but now we’re seeing a flood of shipment notifications head our way. So far as we can tell, the second iteration of the Kindle e-reader is shipping en masse, and Amazon even lists the thing as “In Stock” on its website. Of course, the original Kindle had that status for about 3.87 (okay, 5.5) hours before slipping into backorder land for far too long, but we’re hoping the supply chain’s a bit more ready for the rush this go ’round.

ASUS begins shipping ultra-longevous Eee PC 1000HE

ASUS’ Eee PC 1000HE, which managed to garner some pretty high praise amongst reviewers, is now shipping out to eager buyers. For those that missed it, this here netbook sports a 1.66GHz Atom N280 and a high-capacity battery that could last up to 9.5 hours under perfectly ideal conditions. And for under $400, how in the world can you complain with that? If you too have received your tracking number, feel free to gloat about it in comments below. Might want to hold the actual digits close to your chest, though — we hear netbook interceptions are on the rise.

Vuzix’s $249.95 iWear AV310 Widescreen eyewear now shipping globally

It’s taken awhile for Vuzix’s iWear AV310 Widescreen to escape the show floor and begin shipping en masse, but those looking for a little on-the-go video can finally strap a set on after handing over $249.95. Reportedly, these things throw up a virtual 52-foot screen viewed from 9-feet (we take it that means “big”), and there’s independent +2 to -5 diopter focus levels on each side in order to keep things from blurring out on you. You can also expect upwards of five hours from a single AA battery, and given the adjustable, hypoallergenic nose piece and the “comfort fit” earbuds, we’d say you just might be able to survive 5.5 (give or take) straight episodes of 24. Remember that limited edition Super Famicom Classic Controller? You know, that one that was once available only to Club Nintendo members over in Japan? By some remarkable feat of magic, wit and unmatched skill, the crew over at Play-Asia has secured stock to sell to the public at large, and wouldn’t you know it, they have no issues shipping to the United States of America. Of course, you could also execute the X2Wii hack in order to make your existing SNES controller play nice with the Wii, but where’s the fun in that? The Wind U120 has been drifting around for months now in the minds of undersized laptop aficionados, and being that you’ve already heard it talked up, seen it ripped apart and perused a gallery full of hands-on images, all’s that left to do is break out the plastic. Yeah, we know — $469.99 is tough to hand over even for a rather respectable 10-inch netbook, but at least you get a six-cell battery, right?

Myka’s BitTorrent-friendly home media player now in production

It’s been just about ten full months since Myka’s BitTorrent box was formally introduced to Earthlings, but it seems like the wheels are finally turning on production way across the way in China. According to a promising update on Myka’s official website, “production is in full swing,” which means that boxes should start arriving to eager consumers in around four to six weeks. For those unaware, this here box pulls down torrents as you sleep and then plays ’em back nicely on your connected HDTV. Users can also load up additional media on the inbuilt 80GB, 160GB or 500GB hard drive, but first you’ll need to hand over $299, $349 or $459 depending on just how capacious you like your media servers.

Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X1a now available at SonyStyle

It’s been tough getting out of the starting gate for Sony Ericsson’s X1a (that’s the Americanized version of the X1), particularly when you realize that it was supposed to ship en masse way back on Black Friday of last year. Oh sure, a select few have managed to procure one of the QWERTY-packin’ WinMo powerhouses, but we’ve heard far more complaints about “no stock” than tips on excess inventory. Now, however, SonyStyle.com has the handset listed as in stock, with an estimated ship date of tomorrow. Furthermore, UnwiredView is reporteding that many of Sony’s retail locations are also well stocked with the unlocked smartphone. Of note, SonyStyle is offering up the X1a in silver, but there’s always spray paint if you’re lusting after a black model like the one we tried out.
