Samsung Omnia 2 pre-order page now live, tempting you with debt

Here’s the good news: the unlocked version of Samsung’s I8000 Omnia 2 is now available for pre-order on Amazon, sporting quad-band GSM and HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100. Soaked that in? Great, let’s move on to the bad news: it’s currently listed for $999.99. Ouch. At least it’ll be subsidized when bought through a carrier (hear us, Verizon?). If this is on your must-have list regardless of costs, go ahead and reserve your copy — no release date listed, so be prepared to endure.

Nokia N900 now giving Germany and Italy a way to pre-order

Now that Nokia’s Maemo-powered N900 is looking mighty nice and official, the company’s Germany and Italian arms have no problem going ahead and taking your hard-earned Euros in exchange for a pre-order. Both sites are actually listing it for €599 (US $860), or €99 more than what we heard yesterday. A pretty huge discrepancy, to be sure, but it’s not unlike Nokia to have a flagship phone fluctuate in price. That October release date is a ways off, but if you’re absolutely convinced this must be in your pocket by Halloween, you know where to go.

As you may have noticed, the new Popcorn Hour C-200 media box didn’t quite make its anticipated July launch, but the company now says that as of 12 a.m. PST August 27, pre-orders will open allowing the willing faithful to put in a request for the first batch, anticipated to ship September 3 or thereabouts. Don’t remember the June announcement? The $299 Sigma powered box takes HDD, Blu-ray discs, USB or network inputs of nearly any video or audio codec available and brings them to your living room. Since then, pics and video of the units guts and interface have leaked out on the forums, check after the break or beyond the read link for a better look.

PS3 Slim shipping on August 26th, says Amazon

It looks like there might be a trend brewing among products with nondescript September release windows coming out in August instead — first with Apple, and now with Sony. Supply shortages or no, Amazon’s telling those who pre-ordered the PlayStation 3 Slim the first day it was announced should expect to have their consoles in-hand on Wednesday, August 26th, almost a whole week before the new month begins. Delivery estimates are subject to change, of course, but Amazon’s not one to typically screw around with shipping confirmations. Any other early adopters received confirmations lately?

[Thanks, Devin!]

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic up for $290 preorder on US site

We’d figured the 5530 was destined for markets around the globe where 2G still dominates, so imagine our pleasant surprise to see that good ol’ Nokia USA is as amped as anyone to start selling the company’s new low-cost S60 5th Edition device. This leaves potential buyers in a doozy of a dilemma, though: most retailers are now selling the 5530’s big brother, the 5800, for under $300, which makes the $290 sticker for a 3G-less version pretty hard to swallow. On the flipside, the 5530’s unquestionably the more attractive phone and the updated home screen is going to leave 5800 owners insanely envious. It’s a tough call, and it’s not a call we’d want to have to make — one of each, perhaps? There’s no shipping date listed on the preorder, but for your patience Nokia’s awarding you with an MD-8 stereo Bluetooth speaker if you order online — just pony up your $289.99, pick the white or black version of the phone, twiddle your thumbs, and don’t be shocked when the New York and Chicago flagships get stock before you do.

[Thanks, Oscar M.]

DJ Hero Renegade Edition now accepting callers, lists for $199.99

So how badly do you want that metallic DJ Hero turntable? The game’s official website is now directing your attention to GameStop and Amazon, both of which are now accepting pre-orders for the Renegade Edition (due to launch October 27th alongside the standard bundle) for just one copper Lincoln under $200. That’s a $80 premium over the regular bundle but does also include a stand / carrying case hybrid and a two-CD collection. Then again, it’s also well over the cost of the entire instrument bundle for Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour. Anyone gonna bite?

[Thanks, HArry]

T-Mobile myTouch 3G preorders now shipping, arriving, being touched

If you’ve preordered one o’ them fancy new myTouch 3Gs, check your mailbox, front porch, back door, administrative assistant, or dirty, thieving neighbor — because it might be there. T-Mobile said that preorders would be shipping at the tail end of July, and sure enough, some folks are starting to get lucky; plebes without preorders will still need to wait until August 5, though, so, you know, either sit there and drool or shout nasty remarks about how you’d rather have a Hero in the meanwhile.

[Thanks, sun]

Acer’s Aspire Timeline 1810T gets a price, release window

If you’re in Europe and you love Acer laptops, today is your lucky day. The company has gotten totally official with its Aspire Timeline 1810T notebook, at least according to ComputerBase in Germany. If you’ll recall, the laptop boasts an 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768 display, a 1.4GHz ULV CPU, can support up to 4GB of RAM, and sports a GMA 4500MHD graphics chipset. The base model includes a 250GB hard drive, and all the systems come with an HDMI out, Bluetooth 2.1, a 3G option, and are preloaded with Vista — just in case you were worried. For the low-ish starting price of €499 (or about $708) you can take one of these puppies back to your flat soon (they’re on preorder now and should be available in two or three weeks). Hit the read link for all the nasty details… if you dare.

Windows 7 pre-orders begin in UK, selling out fast

If you’re hoping to get in on discounted pre-order pricing for Windows 7 in the UK then you’d best get to clicking, son. We’re hearing that copies of the £50 Windows 7 Home Premium E are already sold-out on Amazon but still available at Play.com, for example. Stocks of Windows 7 Professional E look plentiful at £100, for the time being anyway. While the offer is scheduled to go until August 9th, it’s limited to some magical quantity known only to Microsoft and its retailers. If you’re still on the fence remember, Japan completely sold-out in just a few days.

Update: Whoa, and now Windows 7 Home Premium E is back on Amazon.

Windows 7 pre-orders sell-out in Japan

Often companies will claim a “sellout” in order to hype incredible demand for its product. However, these claims are pointless without any firm numbers — after all, there’s a big difference between moving 100 and 100,000 units. Now we’re getting word from Japan that the heavily discounted Windows 7 upgrades that went up for pre-order on Friday are sold-out. While no numbers are given, the 17 retailers involved in the pre-order sales, who presumably have no vested interest in trying to inflate perceptions on behalf of Microsoft, report sales as “considerable” and taking only 1.5 days (of the 10 days planned) to burn though the alloted inventory. A quick check on Amazon US and Canada shows the same pre-order prices we saw Friday. Still, it might be wise to take notice of the “while supplies last” disclaimer if you haven’t already.

Update: Engadget Japanese tells us that the 30,000 copies were sold according to Microsoft.
