OCZ’s Z-Drive priced at Amazon: $1,561 and way up

The kind folks at OCZ Technology’s CeBIT booth told us that they expected the forthcoming Z-Drive to be priced between $1,500 and $2,000, and unfortunately for consumers, they were obviously just talking about the starting tag. Today, the much-hyped PCI-Express SSD card — which strings a few blocks of flash memory together on a wicked fast PCI-E pipeline — has been listed at Amazon, and the asking prices are downright eye-popping. The drive is slated to ship in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB flavors, with Amazon demanding $1,561.30, $2,450.50 and $3,368.99 for each in order of mention. We know read rates up to 500MB/sec and write rates of up to 470MB/sec are appealing and all, but damn.

[Thanks, Gary]

iriver P7 ships in South Korea, Americans look longingly across the sea

Sadly, we’re still no closer to understanding when iriver will allow its striking P7 to escape the chains of “pre-order status” here in North America, but geeks in South Korea can now feel free to indulge. 4.3-inches of luscious screen real estate slapped onto an 8GB PMP will set you back just under ₩200,000 ($160), and we’re guessing the more capacious 16GB variant will cost just a wee bit more. So yeah, we’re going out on a limb here and assuming that a homeland launch foreshadows a splashdown on US soil — don’t let us down, iriver.

BeBook mini and BeBook 2 priced, 3G added to the latter

Slowly but surely, those oh-so-juicy details are leaking out about Endless Ideas’ upcoming duo of e-readers. We’ve now learned that the BeBook mini will boast the same specifications as the original BeBook, save for the much more compact 5-inch display; if all goes well, it should be available for purchase this summer for €199 ($270). Moving on to the BeBook 2, we’ve learned that it will include both WiFi and 3G access right out of the box, and the company is currently working with mobile operators in Germany and France in hopes of providing Kindle-like data access for on-the-go book downloads. Unfortunately, it looks like the asking price of that one will hover in the €350 ($476) to €400 ($544) range, but you can check out a Dutch interview with the new announcements just past the break.

Sony’s OLED Walkman priced in the US… sort of

We wouldn’t carve this in stone quite yet, but we’d say that points-to-dollars conversion from Sony’s official ‘Rewards’ site is pretty legitimate. The outfit’s highly anticipated OLED Walkman, which we had the pleasure of toying with earlier this week, is now listed in 16GB and 32GB forms at SonyRewards. While no ship date is given, we are told that the smaller of the two will run members 29,995 points, while the larger one demands an extra 10,000. For those who only speak real currency (you know, like Schrute Bucks), that translates to $299.95 and $399.95, respectively. Furthermore, the first official OLED Walkman accessories have popped up, proving that a leather case / kickstand, clear screen protector and a hard plastic shell will be made available. Oh, and Sony — any moment now would be great for a confirmation.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 gets officially detailed, priced for US market

It’s been a long, winding road to get to this point, but we’ve finally got Panasonic coming clean and telling us a little of what we already knew and lots of stuff we didn’t regarding its Lumix DMC-GH1. The hotly anticipated Micro Four Thirds shooter is indeed getting priced at $1,499.95 when it lands in the US in “early June,” and that MSRP will include the LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens. Speaking of the lens, it’ll boast a silent motor and continuous auto focusing (AF) capability for HD video, a feature that’s sorely (sorely!) lacking from video-capable DSLRs. The cam will ship only in black and will capture video in AVCHD 1080p/24p (or 720p/60p) form, and Panny also tells us that users can adjust shutter speed and control aperture during motion recording. Can you say: “want?”

Bang & Olufsen’s BeoVision 4 103-inch plasma on sale in USA: $93,050

So, there are two ways to look at this: the first is that this television set costs almost as much as many homes, while the second is that it’s around $40,000 cheaper than the Euro-conversion price. Specially designed for plutocrats who need to brag that Mark Cuban has the bargain version of their HDTV, Bang & Olufsen’s 103-inch BeoVision 4-103 plasma brings along a 1080p panel and plenty of wow. The unit has just been let loose here in America, going on a US press tour and becoming available for special order for those with loads of disposable income. It can be purchased in an array of color options including black, silver, red, blue, and dark grey, though there is a three to four month lead time for each set. The pain? $93,050 on wall mount, $111,805 on motorized floor stand — though we hear that it’s hand delivered by Dos Equis himself.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X301 now with $9,969 multi-touch trackpad option

About a year ago Lenovo’s ThinkPad X300 launched as a direct competitor to Apple’s slinky MacBook Air. Over that time, the ultra-slim Thinkpad with a face for business has come to either match or dominate the MBA in nearly every category except the sexy. Now you can tick off one more as the X301 brings a new multi-touch trackpad option with fingerprint reader. In the typical befuddlement that seems to greet every new on-line spec on the Lenovo store, the new TouchPad is listed as a $9,969 option. Too rich? They maybe the $8,402 bump from a 1.4GHz to new 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo SU9600 processor will interest you?

[Thanks, James C.]

MSI’s Wind Top AE1900 all-in-one PC comes to US at $529

MSI’s eco-friendly Wind Top AE1900 has already been formally introduced and spotted over in Hanover earlier this year, but the outfit notorious for withholding price and availability information until the last possible moment has finally let loose those very details. Unlocked HTC Touch Pro2 to retail for $880, Touch Diamond2 for $725

HTC’s been pretty coy with pricing on the Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2, but now that units are starting to trickle out overseas, the numbers situation is getting slightly clearer. HTC’s just announced that an unlocked Pro2 will set Singaporeans back S$1,328 ($887), while a Diamond2 will hit ’em up for S$1,088 ($726) — a little more than in Taiwan, but probably close to what we’ll see off-contract in the States. A little rich for our blood, though — let’s hope T-Mobile cleans the goo off soon.

The Beatles: Rock Band limited edition bundle priced, detailed

Finally, a few whispers straight from the horse’s mouth. While we’ve heard rumor after rumor regarding the actual hardware to be bundled in with the sure-to-be-hot The Beatles: Rock Band, MTV Games, Harmonix and EA have come forward today with a few succulent tidbits to keep you interested until the 09.09.09 launch. We’re told that the Limited Edition Premium Bundle will include the game itself, a Höfner Bass (which will undoubtedly do Sir Paul McCartney and southpaws the world over no favors by being right handed), a microphone, a microphone stand, undisclosed “additional special content” and the real kicker — a Beatles-inspired and Ludwig-branded Rock Band 2 drums, complete with a classic pearl finish and vintage replica Beatles kick drum head.

The whole kit is slated to launch worldwide this September, with USers having to pay $249, Europeans paying €199 and Britons paying £179. Finally, we’re told that North American and European fans who pre-order any version of the game will be eligible to join the The Beatles: Rock Band Pre-Order Club and “receive breaking news and access to exclusive game elements including art and behind-the-scenes footage directly from MTV Games and Harmonix.” Oh, goody!
