Ready for the latest scoop of Android Ice Cream Sandwich future? A report over on BGR details specs for the next pure Google phone we’ve come to know and love as the Nexus Prime. Quoting a “trusted source,” the insider dish paints a familiar contoured picture of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy family member. The screen has been purportedly bumped to a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display, and lurking just beneath its chassis should be a dual-core 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor. As for the rest, the supposed Verizon exclusive packs 1GB RAM, 32GB of storage, a 1,750mAh battery, 1.3 megapixel front-facing / 5 megapixel rear shooter capable of 1080p HD video, WiFi a/b/g/n, NFC and possible LTE / HSPA bands. So does this handset measure up to your (by now) impossibly high standards? We’ll soon find out if any of this pre-release gossip holds its water when we’re live at Unpacked next week.

Update: A new batch of rumored specs have surfaced over on GSM Arena, and these seem to be more in line with what we’d expect of a new Nexus. According to an anonymous Google employee, that 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display mentioned above is just about the only spec to make the final cut. The processor, however, is more likely to be a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos (that’s right) with an accompanying dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics chip. That rear facing camera? Try 8 megapixels with a newly beefed up sensor. The handset should also ship with a girthy 2,050mAh battery fully capable of juicing this apparent LTE / CDMA / GSM Android monster.

It’s no back to school roadmap because, hey, you’re already there. Still, this leaked sales sheet from TmoNews shows Magenta stacking its shelves for an abundant fall mobile harvest. So, let’s dive right in as there’s a lot of two-year contracted bounty to cover. Starting things off on October 19th are a trio of high-end, 42Mbps-capable 4G handsets: the HTC “Ruby” or Amaze 4G at $259, Samsung Hercules (that would be this) at $229 and the Huawei Wayne at $99 (which comes pre-loaded with Spaghetti Westerns, we presume). Following just a week later, is Samsung’s Arnold tablet — a.k.a the Galaxy Tab 10.1 — which’ll run along the carrier’s faux-G and retail for $399. But the real wireless bonanza takes place on the 2nd of November, when six new phones will bow. LG’s Maxx QWERTY and Maxx Touch at $129 apiece are the sole 3G-only units in the bunch, leaving the HTC Omega (better known as the Radar) at $199, LG Flip II at $149, Huawei Tallsome slate at $199 and the low-end Samsung “Ancora” to surf along at 4G speeds. Making a late appearance to this Autumn party are the last two of the bunch: Samsung’s Robin (which looks to be the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus) at $299 and RIM’s Dumoine QWERTY slider. That enough options for you? We thought so.

“Thanks, but no thanks.” That’s essentially what Apple told Samsung today, in rejecting an offer to end their ongoing patent dispute in Australia. Samsung’s proposed settlement, presented on Friday, would’ve allowed the manufacturer to sell its Galaxy Tab 10.1 within Australia as early as this week, despite Apple’s contention that the tablet infringes upon a handful of its patents. The agreement would’ve also resulted in a speedy court decision, but today, Cupertino told an Australian court that the proposal was simply unacceptable. “It is one we don’t accept and there is no surprise,” Apple attorney Steven Burley told reporters. “The main reason we are here is to prevent the launch and maintain the status quo.” Samsung’s lawyers, meanwhile, acknowledged that the rejection now lessens the chances for any settlement at all, arguing that a truce “is not going to be achievable… given the positions advanced by each party,” and that the litigation may extend well into 2012. One of the Samsung’s attorneys, Neil Young, added that his client isn’t in a rush to conclude the dispute, speculating that it may take until March to prepare its defense. “If we can’t get a decision out by mid-October, there is no urgency,” Young explained. Neither Samsung nor Apple have offered official comment on today’s developments, but we’ll keep you abreast of the latest.
