Hasta La Gadget!

We’ve already seen Samsung’s borderline netbook unboxed and on sale across the pond, but up until now, us Yanks have had to sit and ponder whether waiting for this to come Stateside was a worthwhile use of time. For those that held off, kudos. Laptop has received word from Sammy itself that an Americanized version of the 12.1-inch, VIA-powered NC20 will ship here in the United States starting on March 6th. At least initially, the computer will be offered up exclusively through NewEgg.com, and we’re told that the US version will be black in color and equipped with a 5900mAh battery. The only detail that wasn’t disclosed was the price, so it seems we’ve a few hours yet to wait before that becomes clear. Check the read link for an unboxing of the white Korean model should you so desire.

Dell’s new 24-inch G Series LCD, which was previewed during CES this year, has finally gone on sale at the outfit’s website. The G2410 flat-panel is said to be one of the firm’s greenest LCDs, as it proudly sports an EPEAT Gold rating and utilizes halogen-free laminates in circuit boards along with chassis plastics that contains 25 percent post-consumers recycled plastics. Other specs include a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution panel, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits of brightness, VGA / DVI connectors and a 5 millisecond response time. It’s all yours for $349, though there’s no apparent discount for hugging a tree prior to pulling the trigger.

We heard that Amazon was already prepping the earliest Kindle 2 orders for shipment, but now we’re seeing a flood of shipment notifications head our way. So far as we can tell, the second iteration of the Kindle e-reader is shipping en masse, and Amazon even lists the thing as “In Stock” on its website. Of course, the original Kindle had that status for about 3.87 (okay, 5.5) hours before slipping into backorder land for far too long, but we’re hoping the supply chain’s a bit more ready for the rush this go ’round.

It’s taken awhile for Vuzix’s iWear AV310 Widescreen to escape the show floor and begin shipping en masse, but those looking for a little on-the-go video can finally strap a set on after handing over $249.95. Reportedly, these things throw up a virtual 52-foot screen viewed from 9-feet (we take it that means “big”), and there’s independent +2 to -5 diopter focus levels on each side in order to keep things from blurring out on you. You can also expect upwards of five hours from a single AA battery, and given the adjustable, hypoallergenic nose piece and the “comfort fit” earbuds, we’d say you just might be able to survive 5.5 (give or take) straight episodes of 24. We’re still no closer to understanding if iriver’s P20 is destined for a US release, but at least the thing’s about to ship in one corner of the globe. The company has decided on a February 27th release date in the wonderfully brilliant nation of Japan, where eager PMP shoppers will be able to exchange ¥39,800 ($436) for an 80GB model. For those who’ve forgotten the details, it sports a 4.1-inch OLED touchscreen (480 x 272), a built-in FM tuner, USB 2.0 connectivity, support for a litany of file formats, an optional card reader for extra expansion and a rechargeable battery good for at least nine hours of playback. Look on the bright side — you’ve been itching for an excuse to visit Osaka, right?
