USB 3.0 and SSDs, they were just made for each other, don’t you think? Kingston certainly seems to agree, as it’s now rolled out its first SuperSpeed portable solid state drive, giving it the catchy title of HyperX Max 3.0. It fits within the dimensions of a conventional 2.5-inch hard drive, but differs in being able to pump 195MB of data per second when reading or 160MBps when writing. Although pricing and availability details aren’t yet available, we can expect 64GB, 128GB and 256GB varieties to crop up some time soonish. Best Buy’s been a naughty retailer again by letting some people purchase Nikon’s D7000 a few days ahead of its proper retail launch. Of those lucky buyers, a couple inevitably chose to document the unboxing experience and consequently we now have two videos awaiting you after the break, detailing just how neatly that black and gold box is arranged. The actual contents will hardly surprise you — a neck strap, LCD protector, all the usual cables, plus an 18-105mm kit lens with soft pouch and petal-shaped hood are all present and accounted for — but the thrill is in seeing the D7000 itself emerging from its plastic wrappings. Logitech’s been making quality peripherals for as long as many of us have been computing, introducing some of us to our first wheel, wireless and infrared mice in the process. But when it comes to the latest in gaming peripherals, the company’s not always ahead of the curve. Razer and Microsoft have had high-end hybrid wireless mice for over a year now, and the 2.4GHz wireless headset isn’t exactly a new concept. That said, the company’s reputation is strong for a reason, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that Logitech’s created a mouse and headset that leapfrog — rather than just catch up to — what competitors have offered.
