Hasta La Gadget!

It may be a Vibrant with Froyo, a front-facing camera and a thing for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but it’s still downright enviable when you consider the Galaxy S 4G‘s innate support for 21Mbps downloads. As of today, neither Samsung nor T-Mobile USA have been perfectly clear about how much they’d be demanding for this guy, but thanks to a leaked pricing sheet from Walmart, it looks as if it’ll be a solid $50 less than most new smartphones. Those who waltz into Wally World later this month will be able to take one home for $148.88 with a two-year service agreement, or if you’re the No Strings Attached kind of individual, $650. Ah, the choices we’re saddled with.

With the next big thing out of Sunnyvale just weeks away, it’s hard to believe anyone much cares about about the Pre 2 at this point — but for what it’s worth, Walmart’s now pimping the Verizon-flavored version of the phone on its LetsTalk-powered website for a release at some indeterminate point in the future. Interestingly, the news of a February webOS event hosted by HP ties in nicely with a recent rumor on PhoneArena that suggests Big Red’s Pre 2 will live a very short retail life starting later this month as HP transitions into “its own line of webOS handsets,” which could very well be what these guys want to show off next month. Might we have a Kin-style collectors’ item in the making?

The Paper Jamz, they have jamz-ed their last — at least for now. Gibson’s won that injunction against WowWee for modeling its 2D toy guitars on famous axes like the Flying V and Les Paul without permission, and since retailers like Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy and Target were all named in the lawsuit, they’ll have to pull PaperJamz from their shelves. Or maybe not — the injunction was granted and immediately appealed on the 21st, and we’ve definitely seen PaperJamz for sale in Best Buy stores here and there since then, so it seems like there’s still a chance to grab the super-thin guitars while the lawyers sort it all out. We’d guess WowWee might simply re-think some of the designs to be little less “inspired” by Gibson guitars in the meantime — could the Flying V PaperJamz one day command the same collector attention as a 1970s lawsuit Ibanez, Tokai, or Greco? For humanity’s sake, let’s hope not.

If you took a gander at Virgin Mobile USA’s latest Broadband2Go plans you might have noticed a bit of a hole between $10 a month for 100MB and $40 a month for unlimited data. Consider it plugged, with a new $20 monthly 1GB plan that starts today. That’s quite a bit nicer than the previous $20 for 300MB plan, but of course there’s a catch: it’s available only at Walmart, and only to owners of a Novatel MiFi 2200 or Ovation MC720. We hate to say it, but this might just be worth putting aside your hate of all things Walton and making a run over to your local big box — though a trip to Walmart.com would certainly be easier.

Sick of waiting outside in the cold on the wee hours of Black Friday, only to get trampled on the way in to the store when the doors open? Walmart has a better solution: they’ll open the doors at midnight. Yes, the sales start at the first minute of Black Friday, and the full list is after the break, but to get the really good stuff you’ll have to hang around until 5:00am. That’s when a Magnavox Blu-ray player (presumably the oft-discounted NB500) will go for $69, with $10 in VUDU credits thrown in for good measure. Or, you can get yourself a Nintendo DS Lite for $89, which is a very solid deal. Sure, it doesn’t do 3D, but who says games need depth?
