HTC HD7 is hitting T-Mobile November 8th for $200… but it’s hitting Amazon for $30 less

Yes, true: T-Mobile announced last week by way of Twitter that it would be retailing the HD7 on November 8th — the same day as AT&T’s Samsung Focus and HTC Surround — for $199.99 on contract. Thing is, it turns out that AmazonWireless is going to be selling it for $169.99 on contract… which, by our calculations, is $30 less for the same product! Obviously, it’s the norm for retailers like Amazon and Wirefly to charge less for phones on new two-year deals than their first-party counterparts — but what’s notable here is that Amazon will be undercutting T-Mobile by a nice little margin on day one. Well, at least we think it’ll be day one; the site quotes “usually 1 to 3 weeks” for shipping, which should match up with the drop date, give or take.

[Thanks, Collin W.]

Update: Newegg (via seller Simplexity) has ’em for $150… so yeah, needless to say, looks like there’ll be no shortage of ways to get this thing for less than the $200 T-Mobile wants. Thanks, Matt!

Phone-toting time traveler in Chaplin movie?

The appearance of an old woman (or a man in drag) who might just be holding a cell phone in the Charlie Chaplin movie “The Circus” moves some to theorize that it has been infiltrated by a time traveler.

iPad Porn Made Easy With FleshDrive

stevejobsplush.jpg

If there’s one thing that Steve Jobs hates more than Adobe’s Flash, it’s naked people on his beautiful devices. The executive has infamously cracked down on the presence of adult material in the iPhone’s App Store, even going so far as to censor the worlds “boobs” and “booty.”

Of course there are workarounds. For starters, there’s the fact that any device that can freely access the Internet freely can freely access porn. A number of sites have even gone so far as to optimize adult content for the device.

And then there’s the FleshDrive, creators of the adult-oriented flash drive of the same name.

Says the company’s VP, Michael Gruosso, “In a world where a certain company President has looked down upon the adult industry, it is the consumer who decides if they want to watch porn on their iPads. It was important to our company that we developed a creative way to make this happen.”

The device works with the iPad Camera Connection Kit (“also a great item for your digital cameras,” says FleshDrive, enthusiastically), letting users transfer smut directly to the tablet.

The content works without an Internet connection, obviously, which should make it great for watching hardcore pornography on the bus or a plane. “Take the convenience of the iPad with The FleshDrive and you have a porn match made in heaven,” says Gruosso.

I must have missed that part during Sunday school.

Aperion’s Zona wireless bookshelf surround system frees up your sound studio

Aperion Audio’s Home Audio Link is already enabling content speaker owners to enjoy the spoils of wireless, but if you’re in the market for a set of bookshelf speakers, the outfit’s Zona system might just fit the bill. Essentially, these monitors combine high-end audio fidelity with the aforementioned 2.4GHz wireless technology, allowing owners to plug a transceiver into a USB source up to 150 feet away and shoot all sorts of sine waves over to their two speakers. Of course, we wouldn’t recommend these to casual listeners given the $499 asking price, but at least that gets you a pair of 20-watt Class D amplifiers, 4.5-inch woven fiberglass woofers, 1-inch soft dome silk tweeters and a feeling of pride that simply cannot be described in mere words. Or so we’re told.

Notre Dame Student Declan Sullivan’s Twitter Feed “Prophetic”

declan_sullivan.jpg

A Notre Dame junior died yesterday afternoon, while filming a practice for the school’s football team. Twenty-year-old Declan Sullivan was standing atop a portable lift, 50 feet above the field.

Sullivan was clearly concerned by the precariousness of the situation–something he expressed on his Twitter account. The lift collapsed, due to strong gusts. Experts don’t recommend using the device with winds higher than 25 mph–the wind that day was 60 mph. CBS affiliate WSBT called Sullivan’s final tweets “prophetic.”

At 3:22 PM, he tweeted, “”Gusts of wind up to 60 mph. Well today will be fun at work. I guess I’ve lived long enough.”

At 4:06 PM, “”Holy s***. Holy s***. This is terrifying.”

Forty-five minutes later, the lift came crashing to the ground. Sullivan was rushed to the hospital , where he later died. Sullivan’s Twitter account is now locked down.
