Merely hours after the first Verizon iPhone 4 units began to land in the hands of mere mortals, out pops two download links that you’ll most certainly want to give a little consideration to. Chronic Dev Team has just pushed out greenpois0n RC5.4 for Mac and Windows machines, enabling those with iOS 4.2.6 devices to uncage their phone and mate it with Cydia. Hit the links below to get started (including a tutorial over at Quickpwn), but make sure you consider all possible outcomes before doing the deed. Will you life be forever altered for the worse? This shelf tag was apparently spotted this weekend at a Best Buy in Houston, and it speaks for itself: white iPhone 4, AT&T, $599.99 off contract (the same price as the black). Of course, we all know this thing is coming within the next few weeks at this point — there’s just too much evidence pointing in that direction — but the fact that we’ve got big box retailers printing and placing tags for it now suggests that it’s coming sooner rather than later. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, that QR code link is dead at the moment — we’ve linked it below in case you want to give it a shot.

While pre-orders have been halted for the interim, several readers that got their credit card information in on time have been sent an email from Verizon alerting to an CDMA iPhone shipment en route to their residence of choice. FedEx doesn’t seem to be tracking any of the orders just yet, but we’ll check back tomorrow to be sure.

So you might have noticed a few reviews of Verizon’s iPhone 4 crop up last night, nothing unusual about that, but a couple of its reviewers have had something to say about AT&T’s version of the phone as well. Walt Mossberg and David Pogue (who has since stricken the date from his review) both pinpoint February 13th as the date when they expect AT&T to turn on the Personal Hotspot capability that Verizon’s iPhone will have from launch. That’s expected to happen with an update to iOS 4.3, which recently went out to developers in its third beta iteration, suggesting the software’s nearly mature enough for public consumption and seemingly fitting right into this timeline. Mind you, this is still not concrete information, as Mossberg could conceivably have been talking of AT&T’s Mobile Hotspot app which is launching on the same day on devices like the Inspire 4G, and Pogue could have deleted the date for similar reasons, but we’re somehow disinclined to believe that two gentlemen in a position to have insider(ish) intel would both make such a mistake at the same time.
