Another HTC HD7 leak: mid-October looks like a go, price is €559 without contract

We’re getting very used to spotting the as-yet-unannounced Windows Phone 7-powered HD7 embedded in tables of serial numbers and release dates, and while, you know, a picture would be nice, it’s good to see that it still exists in the world of carrier databases. WMPoweruser.com has a leaked O2 Germany lineup courtesy of a tipster, and that chart names an HTC HD7 for the 42nd week of the year, which lines up nicely with that original October 18 rumor we heard for O2 in the UK. What’s more, this chart names a price, with €79 on a two year €20 monthly contract, and a hefty €559 tag if you’d like to go contract free. We suppose that sort of decision making is best left for after we’ve seen the handset, but we won’t judge if you’d rather just rush in headlong — with the HD series pedigree, we doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Panasonic GH2 expected to have 16 megapixel sensor, maybe even 1080/60p video

It was almost exactly a year ago that we asked you how you’d change the Panasonic GH1, and the consensus response was that the camera’s biggest flaw was its stratospheric price. Well, Panasonic’s about to help you out there, as it seems a GH2 successor is all but assured to debut at this year’s Photokina exhibition, which is sure to put a little downward pressure on GH1 levies. The new shooter is rumored to be making mostly evolutionary upgrades, with 16 rather than 12 effective megapixels squeezed into its sensor, expanded ISO range up to 12,800, faster autofocus performance with the kit 14-140mm lens, 5fps burst shooting, and 1080/60i video recording at 24Mbps. Where things get interesting is the suggestion that the GH2 will be capable of 1080/60p, but that the AVCHD recording format — whose current spec doesn’t include 60 frames of 1080p goodness — is forcing it to store data in the 60i mode. That’d be a pretty sweet new addition if true and we’re inclined to believe it given the additional rumor of three processing cores inside the GH2. We’ll know how much of this is legit by the middle of next week, Photokina isn’t a place famed for keeping secrets — quite the opposite, actually.

Is this HTC Sense on Windows Phone 7? (update: and is this HTC’s Hub?)

Whoa, Nelly! Just 24 hours after we caught wind of a leaked webOS 2.0 video, in flies this. If the “Confidential use only” watermark is accurate, the video embedded after the break is HTC’s Sense overlay on Windows Phone 7. If you’ll recall, we finally heard that Sense would indeed be hitting Microsoft’s forthcoming mobile OS after all back in July, but we’ve yet to see any real indication of what the end product would look like. Until now, of course. With “the holidays” rapidly approaching and Redmond holding funerals for rival operating systems, there’s a better-than-average chance that this is legitimate. Frankly, we’re digging what we’re seeing thus far, but is it wrong to wish that even more panels were shown off?

Update: And what’s this? Yet another video has fallen into our laps, and it’s featuring an HTC handset we’ve never seen before. Pocket PT is calling it the Hub (while tipster Eric suggests it may be the Mozart), suggesting that it’s also running Sense atop Windows Phone 7 in the video after the break. When it rains, right?

[Thanks, Sid and Pedro]

HTC HD7 resurfaces on a T-Mobile accessories list, could be with us by November 1

Aha! The phone you heard about here first has made its second document-based appearance, this time crossing the Atlantic and showing up on a T-Mobile inventory sheet. We can apparently look forward to accessorizing our HD7s with a leather sleeve, a “charge shell,” a pair of different screen protectors, and two flexible protective covers made by Speck. Most of these parts are expected to arrive on November 1, and since accessories aren’t much good without something to put them on, we can probably expect that to mean the HD7 will be dropping some time before November. It’s expected on October 18 in the UK, which dovetails neatly with the idea of it being a headline Windows Phone 7 device from HTC — that’s about the time Microsoft promised WP7’s European launch.

As to that “Dell Claire” you see near the top, we’re hearing it’s the T-Mo version of the Dell Streak.

[Thanks, John and Jakub]

Amazon Kindle demo unit arrives in Best Buy, should populate shelves soon

Last week, Amazon decided to expand the B&M presence of its famed e-reader by throwing Best Buy the same bone already thrown to Staples and Target, and it looks as if “this fall” is about to get going. We’ve received word that demo units are already popping up in Best Buy locations (for running advertorial loops to entice you and yours, we’re surmising), and mere mortals should be able to procure them starting next week. We suspect the $139 Wi-Fi and $189 3G model will both be making their yellow-tag debut, and we fully expect this ad right here to be looped ad naseum in whatever aisle BB decides to slot these in.

Nikon D7000 pictured ahead of imminent release?

What, the D3100 and its fancy new autofocusing video mode not enough for ya? Ever since Nikon updated its entry level DSLR, rumors have been rife of a new teammate for it, namely a D7000, designed to replace the wildly popular D90 prosumer shooter. Today, those rumors get enriched with a supposedly legit image, showing a realignment of the buttons on the back, a bit more control with a dual jog dial on the left shoulder, and a new Live View-switching toggle as first seen on the D3100. Look for the D7000, along with a new Speedlight flash and a couple of juicy Nikkor prime lenses, to get officially announced early tomorrow morning. Or not, you never know with rumors.

Samsung’s i8700 Windows Phone 7 handset goes through the video leak ritual

It’s well known around these parts that if you aspire to be a highly desirable smartphone, you have to leak out in three clearly delineated stages: pictures, video, and specs. We’ve seen the i8700 a couple of times already now, and the specs can probably be extrapolated from Windows Phone 7’s stringent hardware profiles, but the video, that was the bit that was missing. Until now, of course. Slide past the break to see it smoothly sailing through the now familiar WP7 interface. The video’s focus is soft, but it won’t get in the way of seeing some truly buttery processing of touch input.

[Thanks, Eggo]

Exclusive: Galaxy Tab, red / white BlackBerry Torch and Samsung Focus hitting AT&T in Q4

Mmm, delicious. That’s the feeling we’re left with after being inundated with yet another round of AT&T leaks, this time giving us insight at a few flagship devices on tap for the carrier’s holiday push. First up is the Galaxy Tab — an Android 2.2-based tablet that we had previously heard rumored for AT&T’s airwaves. Thanks to a branded snapshot from the carrier’s internals, we can confirm that the Tab will indeed be sold on Ma Bell, and it (along with three other new Android devices) will ship “prior to December.” Moving on, we’ve got even more confirmation that the Samsung Cetus (i917) will be one of the operator’s first Windows Phone 7 devices, and it looks as if a heretofore unheard of Samsung Focus and HTC Surround will be joining it. Better still, we’ve got it on good authority that three other WP7 handsets will be splashing down alongside those others in time for the holidays. As for the remaining BlackBerry loyalists, AT&T will be tempting you with a trio of limited run Torch motifs coming in “mid to late November,” with an all-white version, red / black model and olive colored edition on tap. We’ll be keeping an ear to the ground for more, naturally.

Leaked Xbox 360 dashboard gets demonstrated on video

Digg

We’ve already gotten a brief look at the new Xbox 360 Dashboard that’s leaked out courtesy of the Kinect beta program, but now that it’s well and truly leaked across the internet, we’re getting a much better picture of what’s in store for the rest of us later this fall. As you can see above and in the pair of videos after the break, the new Dashboard is decidedly squarer than the current one, and contains few elements that haven’t gone untouched. You can also now even try out the new Dashboard yourself relatively easily, though you may run into a bit of trouble if you actually want to do thing like play games online.

Rumored T-Mobile doc pegs myTouch HD with front-facing camera, screen sharing, and ‘dual processor’

Now that T-Mobile’s got its G2 slider out in the open, the cosmic universe reckons it’s time to look towards the next HSPA+ device — and the next iteration of the Android-laden myTouch series. We’ve seen alleged pics of the myTouch HD before, and now TmoNews has what it claims is an internal document from the carrier boasting some of the key features of the device. Sure, it could be all for naught, but let’s hear this one out. According to the alleged paper, the myTouch HD runs on “America’s largest 4G network” (that’s gonna make some eyes roll) and has a 3.8-inch screen, Swype, 4GB internal space, a bundled 8GB SD card, a five megapixel rear camera, and a VGA camera on the front for video chat over Qik or Yahoo Messenger. There’s also talk of screen sharing for pictures and video onto a HDTV, but that could be something as simple as HDMI output. Something tells us the 1GHz “dual processor” is more than likely a typo that’s meant to say dual-core, à la the Snapdragon chips, but when you’re dealing in the world of the unconfirmed, we suppose anything’s possible.
