Looking to take 802.11n to places you never thought possible? You know — like your studio apartment on the Upper East Side? TRENDnet’s Wireless N Travel Router (which was announced way back at CES) is tailor made for cramped spaces, fitting within the palm of your hand and offering up a single WAN port, a carrying case and a USB socket. Unfortunately there’s no internal battery to keep this puppy alive in the wild, but for $79.99 we can’t kvetch too much.

MSI retools Wind Box DE200 and DC200, puts ’em up for pre-order

Well, what do you know? Last we saw MSI’s Wind Box DE200, it was sittin’ pretty at a booth at CeBIT. Evidently it has seen quite the makeover since that debut, with the latest imagery showing it (alongside the DC200) with far edgier enclosures. We have to say we dig the new digs, but we’re most excited about the US pricing and pre-order pages. Both units are still (under)powered by a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, and predictably, both feature 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP Home running the show. No firm release date has been nailed down for the US market, but Amazon has ’em both up for pre-order right now at $249.99 (DC200) / $299.99 (DE200).

Dell’s Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition oozing out now for $329

If you’ve ever had a yearning for a slime covered netbook, today’s your lucky day. Dell’s Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition — which is absolutely SpongeBob-approved — is now up for order starting at $329. As for specs, it’s pretty much a standard Mini 10v underneath, with a 10.1-inch (1,024 x 600 resolution) display, Windows XP Home, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a GMA950 graphics set, WiFi, 3-cell battery, 1.3 megapixel webcam and a totally played 1.6GHz Atom processor. Oh, and a slimed lid and palm rest, which are likely the one two aspects that truly matter here.

WiFi-enabled bathroom scale slides into USA, overweight Yanks sluggishly back away

Oh sure, we Americans love our fast food. And we love our technology. But do we really love the latter? Withings has just announced that the world’s first WiFi-enabled bathroom scale has made its way into the States after a few months abroad, and we have to say, this could change everything. When pouncing upon it, the scale automatically records the user’s body weight, lean / fat mass and calculated body mass index (BMI) to his or her secure webpage, and if you’re more the iPhone type, it can beam data to a Withings iPhone app as well. It’s available now for $159, but you can certainly wait ’til your latest diet has had some sort of effect before bringing one home. MSI’s longevous Wind U110 ECO available now for $400

We’ll be frank — discovering that MSI’s Wind U110 ECO didn’t boast an ATI GPU as we’d originally heard really put a damper on things, but still, a 9-cell battery that promises up to 15 hours of life on a single charge is hard to ignore. Granted, we have all ideas that real-world figures will pull up well short of that, but it should still outlast the vast majority of rivals currently on the market. If you’ve forgotten the specs, here’s a rundown: 1.6GHz Atom Z530 CPU, Windows XP Home, GMA500 graphics, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi, a 1.3 megapixel camera, gigabit Ethernet, a trio of USB 2.0 ports and a 4-in-1 card reader. If you’ve no interest in waiting ’til October 22nd, this one’s readily available at NewEgg for $399.99.

Mintpass Mintpad now on sale, as cute as ever

Ah, finally. Mintpass has been teasing us with its delightfully adorable Mintpad for nearly a year now, and after sending a few out to a smattering of media outlets, it fell into a holding pattern for the rest of the summer. Now, at long last, the touchscreen-based PMP is on sale over in the UK, paving the way for consumers ’round the globe to call themselves an owner. Final specifications include a 2.9-inch LCD, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot, WiFi, 1.3 megapixel camera, support for a gaggle of file formats and a battery good for 30 hours of audio or 5 hours of video. Too bad that £139 asking price becomes $229 here in the US.

Samsung’s YP-R1 now really official, ships next month

It ain’t the first time we’ve seen a gizmo take a backwards approach to launch, and we get the feeling it won’t be the last. After leaking out, getting reviewed and hitting the all-revealing FCC, Samsung’s mildly exciting YP-R1 portable media player is finally an official product in the megacorp’s product line. Expected to debut at IFA here in just a few days, the 8.9 millimeter-thin player will boast DivX compatibility, a 2.6-inch touchscreen, TouchWiz interface and a Beat DJ feature that enables owners to add in their own crackly voice and space-themed sound effects to songs. We don’t expect the $180 starting price to budge much, though exact pricing details should be uncovered in Berlin within the next few days. As for shipping dates? It’ll march out next month in Europe, with “other markets including Russia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan to follow.”
