So, here’s a thought. Why, if you were a dutiful Adobe employee, would you waste countless days and weeks creating what could very well be the next big iPad app, only to deem it a concept and never actually promise a real release? Exactly. During the 2011 edition of Photoshop World, a bigwig from the company took the stage in order to showcase what could soon be possible with Photoshop on-the-go, and if you’ve been wowed by the powers of Photoshop Express, you’ll be utterly floored by what Adobe has been able to do here. The wildest part, in our estimation, is the absence of stuttering when manipulating multiple images and applying filters, but then again, they may be working with a pixel-optimized set of shots (versus a full-size RAW, for example) in this particular demo. As we said, no one’s even confirming that this has any hope of breaching reality, but we’re going ahead and making the outlandish assumption that Adobe’s not just wasting our (and its own) time by showcasing this in public. You’d think that after all the bickering between Apple and Adobe about banning Flash from iOS, Adobe would never want to be seen touching an iPad in public. But alas, in the video above, Adobe demonstrates its flagship product, Photoshop, working on an iPad.
The Photoshop app is just a concept, so it’s unclear whether it will become a real product. But it’s refreshing to see how Photoshop might work on a tablet. The image takes over the screen, your fingers replace the mouse pointer, and all those ugly, squint-inducing tool boxes in the desktop version of Photoshop have been replaced with nice bubbly menu icons.
Let’s hope Photoshop eventually does land on tablets, including Android and the iPad. It would be a long-overdue makeover. Talk to any designer and they’ll agree that Photoshop is an atrociously unfriendly interface that has remained fundamentally unchanged for years. Designers and creative types would love Photoshop remade for tablets.

Opera Mini for iPhone Tops App Store Charts
Once Apple gave Opera Mini the stamp of approval it didn’t take long for the free mobile browser to top the App Store in all 22 worldwide locations. I was one of those people who jumped on the chance to download the browser, but didn’t find much that was better than the built-in Safari browser. The loading times of sites were on par with Safari despite all traffic being passed through and optimized by Opera. Still, it hit over 1 million downloads in its first day of availability, which is pretty impressive.

Time Saving Tuesday
One of the reasons Adobe Photoshop has become so popular is because of all the advanced photo affects that can be applied to images. Over the last few years I’ve seen a lot of free alternatives emerge onto the scene saving users hundreds of dollars, but many of them don’t have the effects and control that I’m looking for.
The tool that we found for you today is called PhotoFiltre, and it is completely free just like most of the software we write about. It’s far from becoming a Photoshop replacement, but I’ve found that it is extremely handy at applying effects and touching up the digital photos that you have lying around. Lets look at some of the things that it can do…

One of my favorite things with the PhotoFiltre application is the wide array of special filters that’s available. I wanted demonstrate what some of the filters can do, so here are some examples using the image pictured in the screenshot above as the starting ground:
Those are just a handful of the filters available. Here’s a quick list of some of my other favorites that you might find useful:
PhotoFiltre has become a beloved application of mine over the last month simply because I do a lot of photo corrections and enhancements on a regular basis. If you want to edit your images this is a great solution, and once you throw a couple of the plug-ins into the app it will become a really powerful photo editor.

Update: To be clear, we don’t know which of the two ‘shops is the real deal — technically, neither is, they’re both renders — but earlier prototypes have shown some pretty slinky bezels. It’ll be on Notion Ink to demonstrate just how slim the Adam’s screen surround is when it finally unveils the real deal.

Notice something missing from that Continuum there on Big Red’s home page? That’s right: if this were a real phone, there’d be an arbitrary black bar across the screen somewhere around the young lady’s midsection, followed by a “ticker” at the bottom… but instead, just as with the iOS-powered Droid X, they’ve once again exceeded the bounds of reality with a little help from Adobe products. Don’t get us wrong, the phone Verizon’s got up on its home page is the Continuum Verizon probably should’ve launched… but then they would’ve had to answer the burning question of why they released a slightly sexier, slimmer version of the Fascinate. It’s alright, though, guys — we’ve got your back — just follow the break for the corrected version. You’re welcome to use it!
