Dell’s Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition oozing out now for $329

If you’ve ever had a yearning for a slime covered netbook, today’s your lucky day. Dell’s Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition — which is absolutely SpongeBob-approved — is now up for order starting at $329. As for specs, it’s pretty much a standard Mini 10v underneath, with a 10.1-inch (1,024 x 600 resolution) display, Windows XP Home, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a GMA950 graphics set, WiFi, 3-cell battery, 1.3 megapixel webcam and a totally played 1.6GHz Atom processor. Oh, and a slimed lid and palm rest, which are likely the one two aspects that truly matter here.

WiFi-enabled bathroom scale slides into USA, overweight Yanks sluggishly back away

Oh sure, we Americans love our fast food. And we love our technology. But do we really love the latter? Withings has just announced that the world’s first WiFi-enabled bathroom scale has made its way into the States after a few months abroad, and we have to say, this could change everything. When pouncing upon it, the scale automatically records the user’s body weight, lean / fat mass and calculated body mass index (BMI) to his or her secure webpage, and if you’re more the iPhone type, it can beam data to a Withings iPhone app as well. It’s available now for $159, but you can certainly wait ’til your latest diet has had some sort of effect before bringing one home. QNAP ships NMP-1000 Network Multimedia Player

It sure took ’em long enough, but QNAP has finally come around and delivered its NMP-1000 Network Multimedia Player here in the States. If you’ll recall, we actually toyed around with one way back at CeBIT, and while those camped out in Osaka have been enjoying the spoils for months now, the Yanks in attendance have been forced to wait. According to QNAP, the DLNA-compliant media streamer is now shipping in America, though a quick look around our favorite web stores has turned up nothing. We’re sure that’ll be remedied in short order, though.

iLuv’s $270 i1166 portable multimedia player finally shipping next month

Set in stone for March, eh? Looks like that ship date slipped just a wee bit. iLuv‘s curious i1166 — which plays back an array of multimedia from an array of sources on its 9-inch LCD — is now slated to ship to the US next month. Originally introduced at CES, the $269.99 device can play back content stored on an iPod, DVD, SD / MMC card or USB drive, though the omission of a screen resolution gives us serious pause. Other specs include twin 3.5 millimeter headphone jacks, an “iPod-friendly” user interface and a bundled remote, none of which justify the lofty asking price in our humble eyes. You and your wallet can feel free to disagree in around a fortnight, though.

Viliv’s WinXP-powered X70EX MID now on sale in America

We’re still not exactly sure who among us is buying MIDs, but as with those mysterious video glasses, it’s abundantly clear that someone, somewhere definitely is. Take Viliv’s X70, for instance. This thing’s been around the world a time or two in more than one iteration, but at long last, the E70EX has departed Hong Kong and landed on US soil. Over at NewEgg, the X70EX Express P, X70EX Premium P and X70EX Premium 3GP are available for immediate shipment, though you’ll still have to justify the $599.99, $729.99 and $879.99 (respectively) price tags. Super Talent’s 2TB RAIDDrive shipping next month to the rich and silly

Remember that 2TB PCIe RAIDDrive we peeked earlier this year? Yeah, that was no April Fool’s joke. Super Talent’s answer to OCZ Technology’s Z-Drive is on track to ship next month, shortly after it makes a quick stop by IDF next week. The device slots into one’s PCIe bus and utilizes a RAID architecture specifically tailored to work with NAND flash memory. In fact, the outfit has actually boosted the transfer speeds from the 1.3GBps estimate to a 1.4GBps promise. The aluminum enclosure houses four discrete SATA SSDs, with the RAIDDrive GS being the model that tops out at 2TB. For those able to deal with “just” 1TB, there’s the RAIDDrive ES and RAIDDrive WS, both of which are detailed further in the read link. No exact pricing has been nailed down yet for the flagship unit, but considering that the 1TB RAIDDrive GS is pegged at $4,999 for OEMs, we’ll let your imagination do the rest.

JVC brings $1,000 HD Everio GZ-HM400 camcorder to America

JVC introduced its HD Everio GZ-HM400 in Japan way back in late July, but at long last, the time has come for the Yanks in attendance to grab one as their own. Shipping now (as in, right now) here on US soil, the Full HD camcorder packs a 10.3 megapixel sensor, 32GB of internal storage, an SD / SDHC expansion slot and the ability to capture stills at 9 megapixels. Over on the video side, users will have access to a trio of slow-motion recording modes (600fps, 300fps and 120fps), though we can’t express in mere words how disheartened we are to hear that this thing utilizes the thoroughly worthless AVCHD format. If you aren’t bothered in the least by that, you can pick yours up now for a nickel shy of a grand.

Samsung’s YP-R1 now really official, ships next month

It ain’t the first time we’ve seen a gizmo take a backwards approach to launch, and we get the feeling it won’t be the last. After leaking out, getting reviewed and hitting the all-revealing FCC, Samsung’s mildly exciting YP-R1 portable media player is finally an official product in the megacorp’s product line. Expected to debut at IFA here in just a few days, the 8.9 millimeter-thin player will boast DivX compatibility, a 2.6-inch touchscreen, TouchWiz interface and a Beat DJ feature that enables owners to add in their own crackly voice and space-themed sound effects to songs. We don’t expect the $180 starting price to budge much, though exact pricing details should be uncovered in Berlin within the next few days. As for shipping dates? It’ll march out next month in Europe, with “other markets including Russia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan to follow.”

Creative Zii EGG orders shipped, hands-on videos posted

It looks like somebody’s Zii EGG orders have shipped, and we got the video to prove it. A staff member named DaHarder over at the DAP Review forums has just received one of the lusted-after devices, and luckily for us he’s given it the ol’ hands-on treatment and posted the evidence for our perusal. “The screen,” he says, compares “very favorably” with the S Series Walkman, with colors described as bright and vibrant, even if the blacks leave something to be desired. And how about sound? He rates it as being “the best sounding Creative player” he’s heard yet, “and that’s without any EQ/Z-Fi etc.” Not too shabby for a development model, eh?
